Thank you for explaining! Its so sad that our education system can't slow down to explain these concepts, rather it wants us to memorize everything.

I love the first half of your original video and how you use the human experience. I thought, about you doing a future video or podcast translating your knowledge as it relates to to all areas of the every experience of the human condition.Just throwing out an Idea.

I think it's the brain that determines the driving force based on a person's beliefs and only a change in beliefs can change it, either individually or collectively. I also believe that consciousness is demonstrated by it's ability to change the condition and position of any particle from its otherwise inevitable position and the inevitable position of any particle is also determined by conscious intention. There is no difference between the laws that govern the interactions of people, atoms, events, or anything, because everything is made of pure imagination. Ironically, that's why a good deed shines so in a weary world. Know what I mean?

Thank you so much for the lesson, but I have a question that you might have help me with finding an answer to.
What if we, humans, were wrong? with all the numbers and all the formulas. I know that might seem a little stupid, but i really have been thinking a lot about a lot of things that happen in our universe. What if we've found something much faster than light? that's one things I have been dreaming of. We have based our learning on numbers, constants and theories. I think we need to work harder. who knows, we might someday harness power from other stars, or apply the first Warp Drive. Thanks again, and by the way your teaching analogy is perfect. Keep up....

thank you, im a msc student doing neuroscience and biochemistry and have a question, no one ever really explains why we must use logarithmic form, im assuming this calculation is based onlogarithmic transformation, and have been told this info does not exist because in the olden days researchers never had calcultors, eg the work by kessel on the k+ of frog, leech so theefor it was compulsory to know logs and why we use them. My lecturer has said that we won tunderstand them because of calculatorsand lack of communication with high school. So why do we use logarithmic transformation with the nernst equation for membrane potentials, reversal potentials and how does it relate to why graphically in K+ decade change is -60mvs?

why does the Eion of Cl- have a negative value in the table (~9:30) but comes out as a positive value when you use the Nernst equation to calculate it?

    • @Penguinprof

This is impossible to answer in a text box - but check out Equation 11 here: www.physiologyweb.com/lecture_notes/resting_membrane_potential/resting_membrane_potential_nernst_equilibrium_potential.html
