Saw these guys in person at 3 separate concerts, and each time they were great! Great singers, "intrumentalists", dancers, and comedians! Wonderful entertainers loaded with talent. A must see!
These guys are my favorite a-cap group of all time. They look like they're having so much fun and that joy for life is definitely contagious. I need more of this stuff...just hook it to my veins!
I've started calling this up every morning to start my day. It puts a smile on my face and reminds me that hard times can't destroy beauty or laughter.
It's been a long time since I got chills from listening to someone sing but when he started I got chills all over. They are crazy and having so much fun.
Yeah I know what you mean alright. I got chills with the Carlton dance at the end it was so right on. Lol! That song never gets old and with this twist it got a makeover too!
I agree with you so much, I'm a 63 yr old fat straight guy and these guys gave me goosebumps. It's inspirational and intergenerational and probably even international. It was amazing...
Excellent harmonies and comedy! Absolutely great A- cappella music ! I've never heard 'Straight No Chaser' but I'll look for them now. In Christ Jesus, Michael
Absolutely love this version. What better way to enjoy the old music then to find a way to do it to bring back memories while making your audience laugh. Watching in July 2020 during the Coronavirus pandemic. Just what I needed.
This is the first time I have seen this video. I have been finding lots of videos I never saw before and they are songs I have not seen them do in concert either. Thank God for You Tube!!!!
An all-time dynamic performance, brilliant choreography every instant, humour and singing and dance talent showcased forever - Increases optimism and energy levels.Therapeutic music beyond belief. This is thoroughly enjoyable incredible talent.
6:30 in the morning, having my 2nd cup of coffee, and I run across this video.....just AWESOME! One of my favorite songs and this brought on a mountain of smiles and laughs. Thank you for bringing such good vibes to me this morning!
One of the best stage performance i have ever seen in my life.! So relaxing. kind of a emotional roller-coaster! and the humor is outstanding! and yes I am listening it in 2017 !!! Love you guys.. :D
1960 Those were such good days, must be what we will experience in heaven, hearing all our fav groups anytime. 'Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end; we thought they'd last forever and a day.'
I'm not old enough to have grown and enjoyed the 50s and 60s. But I used to work with my dad and that's all he listened to. I come to enjoy that era of music. I caught that feeling that you are trying to express
I had such a bad day today. My neighbor passed away from a heart attack. Requiescat in pace (May he rest in peace.) My charge card was compromised and three heavy charges were fraudulently put on my credit card, which fortunately the credit was dropped. But it shocked me to see it at first. Then I listened to this group sing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and it just brightened my day. Bravissimo to Straight No Chaser. What a great job. And they seemed to be having such fun performing this song..
I attended an "Oldie but Goodie" concert in the early 90's and saw the Tokens perform The Lion Sleeps Tonight. I enjoyed it very much. They sounded just as good as I remembered when hearing it as a kid sometime during the 60's. But I enjoy this one even more! Great job guys! So glad I found this!
"The Lion Sleeps Tonight" was originally written and recorded by Solomon Linda in 1939. And the songs original title was "Mbube". Recorded under the South African, Gallo Record Company. Linda's original was written in Zulu, while the English version's lyrics were written by George David Weiss.
This is a beautiful song We seems like to forget but to listen again it bring those times back in our minds So nice memories good times then. No covid free times
Harmony at it's BEST!! Music got me through NAVY! Love and loss! There were not many TV's on a ship! Make the best of what you have! Appreciate! P.S. listen love your family and friends, people! One day you will see that! This is pure music!
This is my brother's favourite song. I haven't seen him nor spoke to him in over 20 years. Brett if you see this I love you and miss you very much. 🇨🇦🕊🌷🥀🌹🥀🥀
It is wonderful, hearing these men sing and bounce around, all in "k"! So fun and beautiful, continues to give me goosebumps. This is such fun to send to friends for a real treat!
Love it! The lead has a very nice and pure tenor and falsetto voice. Choreography was fun too!! Side note: This song has special meaning to me. My sister and I are both Leos. She loved this song. When the Lion King came out, it was a joy to learn this song was included in the sound track. After my sister passed away, whenever I would hear this song, it would bring tears to my eyes. It was fun to hear the song done with such fun and passion for acapella (another favorite of mine). Thank you gentlemen of No Chaser.
I gotta say that every year since I discovered their "12 days of Christmas" version, I listen to it like every day during Christmas season, and I keep looking for more videos. But mostly only around Christmas. So weird.
IT'S 1:00 am and i should be rounding up my maths studying but just thought to pass by an alltime favorite....had me wearing a goofy grin...thanks for making my morning, this song rocks!
It was recorded by the Tokens in 1961, but I won't do the math! It was popular (and continues to be to this day thanks to The Lion King) when I was in elementary school.
Love this. Beautiful voice! I never heard any performance by the tokens performed live. They appear live but they are always lip syncing. This was refreshing. And i know a lot of work was put into this performance.
it's a parody mix everybody! it's not supposed to be serious. I assure you they can and do awesomely perfect Acapella,. but so do a lot of other groups ( Pentatonix, Rockapella etc) but these are the only ones I've found that parody and mix songs. maybe you will enjoy it more if you relax and take it as it's intended.
I wd rather listen 2the original Azanian cultural version (without the un- necessary buffoonery), that was stolen by a caucasian group in the 1950's-60's? &4which the originators NEVER benefit- ted from the $$$ millions the white group reaped from the song. Thus they did what the caucasian is infamous 4, being the cleptomaniac his-[own]- story reveals him 2be: he ripped them off of their hard-earned &well de- served financial rewards. What a pitiful shame!!! Therefore, it's imperative that we: "Tell The Truth & Shame the [lying, fork-tong -ued serpent/d-v-l". 'Nuff sed!
Jay Segal and the Tokens are the best and it was their hit song way back. Mr,Segal's range is quite awesome. You might want to check it out on TH-cam. ❤️
A timeless classic loved by many but for people who have lived in Africa it can easily make one well up. Love you Africa, always will.
Always a favorite. I'm 71 and still love it.
You know, first time, fabulous
I love the way the Weavers sang this son back in the early '50's. Right up there with you. I'm 71 also.
This randomly popped up....no regrets to watching this. Loving it!
