Had some serious issues, yet I am still so happy with this laser. So cool!
Glad to see you had a good experience with there customer service. Unfortunately it seems like you're the only one getting responses from them. This was a kickstarter and if you go over to that campaign you will see that they have gone weeks, and almost a month without responding to questions or even giving us updates. Currently we are all waiting for our K8s and they have been shipped out on October 30th, clearly dropped off on a cargo boat so no one has received there's yet. I get "reviewers" got em, but the backers that have actually given them $ have not. I'm still optimistic that we will get ours before Thanksgiving. BTW not sure if I missed it but what watt laser did they send you for the review?
@@Bearded_Blonde I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I am not sure if it is the same team working the kickstarter side or not. The support team I worked with were right on top of things. When I was working with them to resolve the problem, I informed them that I would not be able to provide a good review and they supported that. They stated, they also had noted feedback to be provided (I assume to their management). I reviewed the 10W machine.
@@Bearded_Blonde I saw another message with some questions about how I received my K8 but I cannot find it anywhere in the comments section anymore. The K8 is currently on sale. I was notified as soon as they were available for purchase and placed my order. I did not place an order through Kickstart.
Looks like a pretty neat machine for crafters. The customer service you described was, indeed, outstanding. I fortunately haven't had any problems with any goods supplier, with one exception. They were in nothing like the people you dealt with on this machine. Looking forward to any creations you make with it.
I could not be more pleased. It really has some great features that I look forward to using!
With the doors opening on the front and rear of the machine, is there any way to engrave longer pieces? Like bypassing the safety switch?
There is only customer firmware that would allow that. Wainlux probably won't give that out though due to safety issues
I imagine there might be a way to rig it to work but I dare not do so. Besides, it is sitting in a book shelf and there is not space to put in a long piece anyway. :-)
@Poor_Mans_DIY just saw they have an option to engrave/cut with the door open. They call it "pro mode" you hold down the repeat button on the machine for 10 seconds and you will be able to engrave/cut objects that are bigger than the build volume. Not the safest thing to do, but it's an option
Nice looking Laser both.
Things do go wrong and it how a company deals with the issue that is important.
Wainlux seem to have gone above and beyond on this occasion.
Putting my sinical head on, do you think they acted that way because you were doing a product review on YT?

I’m thinking of purchasing this .. I have a question though .. Does this connect to a IPhone or Computer only?
Ms Lisa, thank you for watching our video and for your question. I dont have an iPhone so i was unable to test that but, the K8 uses software called CutLabX and it is available at the Apple store for download. Sidenote, I reached out to Wainlux yesterday to ask for discount codes for viewers and they are giving $30 off for a limited time. Info is in the description. Please do not feel as I am pressuring you into this. Remember, I pointed out problems I had at first, so keep that in mind. I do stand by my recommendation and would buy this for myself. Do your research and choose what works for you. If you have further questions, do not hesitate to ask.

There is an app in the app store for cutlabx
I just received mine today. You made clear that there was some either bumping or buzzing sounds. Mine seems like there was no calibration done and the laser enclosure is hitting the larger enclosure. I think there will be more having that issue. If you haven't already, do you plan on posting those videos to help us folks that just got their devices?
I am so very sorry. I did not cross my mind to keep the videos at the time. They provided me with the machine to review and I was communicating with them to get it operational. I started to think I would not perform the review but they were so supportive and it impressed us. By then, I had already deleted the videos. So sorry. Please reach out to their customer service and hopefully they will provide you with great support as well. We would love to hear how things work out and to see the things you make.
If you are buying a Wainlux product, please beware that they are terrible at customer care. Most Kickstarter backers like myself regretted backing the product. My advice? Don’t buy this engraver. Lasers are failing after few engraves. Mine came making banging sound at any attempt to home it. Wainlux didn’t respond to any queries. Save yourself headaches; trust me I’m a backer.
Sorry to hear your experience was so different from mine. Hopefully, things work out for you and they help you get up and running.
