As an American married to a Persian woman, this is hilarious. The up and down look, the way the older Persian guy bails as soon as he see it's Persian Bachelorette. So very well done. The mom comes with her son. First time I ever went out with my wife for dinner, I expected it to be me and her. It was...me and her...and her two sisters, their boyfriends, and her two nieces. Nuru Lol first of all it’s a comedy skit. It’s to be taken lightly and is a fairly accurate (albeit exaggerated a bit here for comedic effect) portrayal of a typical Persian’s reaction to being called/mistaken for Arab. It’s not so much about as disliking them than it is the fact to be mistaken *as being* them. Identity is a point of pride in Iranian culture. Secondly, it’s not fair to say an Arab is a Persian or a Persian an Arab. Yes, they can be from the same geographic area, but the Middle East itself is arguably perhaps even more diverse than Europe in terms of ethnic makeup. Does racism exist in Persian communities? Certainly. Does it exist in Arab communities? Absolutely. That does not mean the majority hold feelings of ill will toward the other.
