A secret peace: In Egypt Buddhists pray (Available in HD)

  • Buddhism is not a common or widely accepted practice in Egypt. Those who seek to explore the religious, spiritual, meditative or other aspects of Buddhism struggle to find places for such practices, and in the case of some, may have to conceal their activities from their families and communities for fear of persecution or a lack of understanding. Mada Masr speaks to three people who have incorporated different aspects of this ancient religion into their lives in Cairo.

Imagine if Buddhism came to ancient Egypt long ago and were absorbed into her native culture and religion. There would be wall murals showing the Buddha next to Isis, Osiris, Ra and Horus, and we would find Buddhist suttas like the Dhammapada all translated into hieroglyphics. Hey, the lotus flower is regarded as sacred in both Buddhism and ancient Egypt! :)

I do not care here about Rohinga. I care: why it possible, in Buddhist countries could be cultivated and indoctrinated such slaughterers, who are ready decimate their own population? Who did kill in Pol Pot Campuchea millions of innocent people? You say Rohinga are unwelcome in your country. Ok, but will it authorize you to kill children? You are in reality not Buddhist, but barbarian and blind victim of propaganda. Great teachers have nothing to do with racism or killings!

Moon Like glwalcott I'm fr Myanmar, you all say like if we are Buddhist there should be no army? I never support killing people. But peace should be maintained. Bengali so called Rohingya attack civilians and police first! Then army don’t have right to maintain peace and defend civilians? We give them some stage of permanent resident but it can’t make them please. What they want is Islamic State. When they were few people they stay quiet with local Rakhine people. Do you think if they got the State the native Rakhine people can live peacefully like they live before when their population was a small figure? When their population become bigger, they start doing violence. Also they are totally different from Myanmar Muslim from central part. So called civilians Rohingya also support ARSA terrorist. We don’t hate them at all. We just afraid of them. Yes very much afraid of them. Also army didn’t kill people in the name of buddhism. Killing living is a sin regardless of any reason in Buddhism.

There are many subjects like the four noble truth, eightfold path, five aggricates, three poisons, depending origination, duality, karmic accumulation and many more. I am immensely pleased to see and hear this. Of course, a system of practice that promotes compassion, peace and inner knowledge may find great difficulty to take root in societies whose everyday lives are infected by hatred, selfishness and blind conviction. A lot of anti-Buddhists are spreading brazen lies as propaganda against Buddhist countries and Buddhist people. Terror and terrorism were the things that had never been associated with Buddhists, yet I see those who form part of a system of belief that is definitely the most frequently associated with those vile vices calling us aggressors without sound base, laughably presenting their own propaganda as proof. Never in the entire life span of the planet had history seen such a colossal example of injustice. Following Buddha's example, I shall not respond to hatred in kind. I simply wish for them to be able to see the light through the veil of darkness that holds them down in a tight grip. The light of Dharma calls all beings towards the supreme enlightenment and liberation from the vicious cycle of suffering, which definitely includes ingrained enmity towards others.

Buddhism was once very popular in Egypt, hence the name Egypt, or House of the spirit of Ptah, or Buddha. Flinder's Petrie found an Indian Buddha at the Memphis Ptah temple that was dated to the time of Cambyses. India and Egypt have always had a close relationship. Akhenaten was probably the Buddhist Okkaka (Grk. Ogyges, Og, Gyges & etc) and it is certain that the Egyptian Shisak is the Buddhist Shishinaga. (Sesostris)

Buddhism teaches about Self-Inquiry, controlling your Emotions, Islam teaches about Creation of the World, Worship of Allah.
Apples and Oranges, it's like saying you must learn Physics but mustn't learn Chemistry.
Unfortunately many People don't understand this and see it as a threat to "their" Belief System.

Buddhist don't live for religion. But Islam live only for religion (Allah and Muhammad) to surrender the entire life only for Allah include sacrifice your soul only for religion. The only way to reach jannah or heaven that Allah guarantee is to be jihadist (means sacrifice your soul to go war in the sake of Allah)

a Muslim man can marry any woman from Christian Bahai Buddhist Jew community or faith but a non Muslim is not allowed to marry Muslim women there.

To me Buddhism is the most peaceful religion ever. Bhuddism as a philosophy does not allow anyone to harm anyone. If does, it is a braking of Lord Buddha's teachings. Lord buddha spread peace to all the beings without considering whether they come to peace or to hate. That's why Buddhism has eradicated from there. There is enough evidences to prove Buddhism had well established in Afghanistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Pakistan, Persia, India . But today they all are gone due to fertility rate of a race that I don't like to talk about

but for enlightenment only one way .it's not available in most of the Buddhist counties .but our most enlighten ones do not preach in English .so can't spread buddhism by them .so try to follow theravada buddhism at least.it's available in countries like Thailand ,Myanmar and my country of course srilanka..it's not mind fullness it's the way to decomposition of the ingredients of mind (myself/soul) .that s not easy .lot of mind training needed .but some people can do it easily .that's basically know about the next thought , it's origination ,see it from outside and train your mind not to claim it .if you take it as yours that take you to a long process .that's storing in mind ,generations of uncountable number of feelings emotions ,path way to other thoughts that create illutions called past and future.
and that become yours .(myself).if you see this clearly it's called enlightenment.but see means you become in to it and never comeback .

Yoga is not a part of Buddha Dhamma's Meditation. BecauseYoga is brought by a Brahmin priest Patanjali his main aim was uprooted to Buddha Dhamma and his teachings, principles, Meditation (Vipassana) from ancient India, who was Master of Pushyamitra Shunga. Pushyamitra was murdered of ancient Buddhist king Brahdratha Maurya then after Pushyamitra had became king and established Shungha dynasty then started counter revolution against Buddhism and the huge mass killing of Buddhist Monks destroyed Buddha Viharas monestries, stupas, Temples , Brahdratha Maurya was a 10th and last king of Mauryan period.. So today yoga is deformed of Vipassana of Buddha.
