Honestly, if the combat played more like Skyward Sword, i would have enjoyed it a lot more because it would actually force you to think about how you're playing and react to enemies.
Frozen Cavern has never been touched by a blade! Frozen Cavern is never afraid! Ok but for real though, the fact that just flailing the stick wildly was enough to get you through the whole game without getting hit is pretty funny. I bet it would be exhausting to play this with the Kinect.
I'm glad someone got that reference. Anyways, from what I've seen, the controllers for the Kinect are actually pretty good, but swinging around like a madman being the best method for motion controls does not appeal to me for a variety of reasons.
It's super weird that this was the only mainline Shrek universe game to be a Kinect/PlayStation Move title Shrek 2 was this Ultimate Alliance/Diablo styled beat-em-up where various characters had their perks and switching between them to solve specific puzzles was a core mechanic Shrek the Third was a beat em up focused on combos and finishers with the occasional platforming Shrek Forever After tried to return to the Ultimate Alliance/Diabli inspired gameplay Shrek 2 did but didnt quite pull it off well So going off all these I would expect the Puss in Boots game to be probably a dumbed down hack-and-slash with platforming and puzzles thrown into it
This is definitely one of those games when i watch the gameplay of it and go "hmm I don't think he'll like it that much" It'll be a while before the next Shrek game review, so i'm curious to see what the next Shrek game is going to be 🤔
Unfortunately, I think the reason it's so motion control based is because the Kinect and the Move had just come out a year before the movie and game came out so there's many games and developers trying to cash in on the movement controls. I have a Kinect for my 360 and I think that some of the few good games for it are dance games like Just Dance and Dance Central, since it makes sense to have motion controls there and it works the well for the most part.
Honestly I HEAVILY agree with you on the traversing parts of the gameplay. I honestly find it just find... okay? But after seeing this review. now I am kinda changing my thoughts on it because I I wish it wasn't even automated. Also yeah I also wish that Humpty was written BETTER in this game like in the movie.
Death DEFINITELY swore in Spanish in that moment, friend 😂 I figured as much (I also looked up the translation, something about beating himself up about playing with his prey and swearing in frustration in Spanish). Yeah Puss in boot is my favourite sherk character 😂 30.5.23
It's a real shame the game fails to deliver on the...y'know, _gameplay_ front, because it's visually wonderful. The animated cutscenes are adorable, and the in-game look works really well for the PS3 era. I can definitely name some childhood licensed garbage I played as a kid (Ratatouille & Happy Feet DS, namely. Ratatouille PS2 was great though) that seems to pale in comparison to this, even if it wasn't all that stellar itself. If I were just a year or two younger I think this is a game that I could've very realistically have played as a kid. I remember enjoying the movie, at least. Still need to get around to watching Last Wish at some point.... ah well. One of these days. Congrats on the sponsorship, by the way!
I've heard good things about the PS2 version of Ratatouille. The PS3 version... Not so much. Regardless, go see The Last Wish! THE MOVIE IS AMAZING. Also, thanks for the congrats.
Not that i thought it would look bad, but im actually really surprised how good this game looks for a game 2 generations back! Also another fantastic review 👏 ❤
I honestly didn't even know this movie had a game and I was honestly expecting it to be a fairly standard hack-n-slash/beat-em-up like the previous Shrek games... but man the moment you said that it's 90% automated just left me baffled, how the hell do you mess that up with a character like Puss in Boots? Also, I'm guessing they changed stuff like the bull and Humpty's death to make it more "kid friendly"... even though it's based on a kids movie? Or maybe it was a leftover from some early version of the movie's script? That kind of thing does happen with licensed game, but still, it's really weird.
Yeah, that kind of thing does happen with the story of licensed based games. I know Madagascar 1 is a big example of that, but unfortunately, I just don't know what the reason was.
Now that I've actually watched the video here's an actual comment. This game definitely seems like it would be one of those games where you think it was some weird fever dream but then you see a video like this one and then you realize that it wasn't due to how little people talk about this, and it definitely looks like the whole "Motion controlled game" thing is a big reason this was so boring because they needed to make it with them in mind, basically if you want something to use your PlayStation move controller with, you get LittleBigPlanet 2 and it's move pack, don't have anything for the Xbox players though... Star Wars Kenect maybe?
There were a couple of Kinect games that came out, but their reputation wasn't the best since the ones people take about were usually bad. Ex: Sonic Free Riders, Dragon Ball Z: For Kinect
@@TheFrozenCavern it said to use headphones to properly enjoy this game. And my excitement died immediately. I bought this thinking it would be an action packed adventure and all I got was a terrible mediocre rhythm game with a couple micro games. It will barely last you a few hours.
@@TheFrozenCavern simple. They figured with such a hispanic movie they probably figured a rhythm game would be great. Too bad there's barely any songs, the rhythm game ends early if you are TOO GOOD, and is ultimately forgettable. Oh and the micro games sucked and this game was being sold for like $30 at release. They could have made a side scroller and it would have been much more entertaining then what I got. Also the stpry is basically Puss and Softpaws find out Humpty is alive as he is sending them messages from the castle, they fight Jack and Jill, get the gold eggs to repay his home, and there's no boss fight with the goose because screw you. It hurts so much. You should try it if you are curious
Hello Mr.Cavern my name is Isaiah. I am a fan of your channel, but I have not come to make a request. I have something important to say to you. You see one day the earth is gonna be taken over. Not by a person of flesh but by evil spirits. An there leader Satan will pretend to be God and will put a mark on people. If you and your loved ones take this mark. You will all be goners. But i have come to bring you hope. That hopes name is Jesus. He loves you Cavern and an like any father. Wants to help you be safe from wicked things. Especially Satan. But I can not force you to believe. The choice is ultimately yours. An i am not just talking to you i am talking to the people in the comments.Have a nice day. Shalom Shalom.
It’s kinda sad how bad the combat is, because it actually looks like a fun stylish combat engine
Honestly, if the combat played more like Skyward Sword, i would have enjoyed it a lot more because it would actually force you to think about how you're playing and react to enemies.
I was expecting it to be a platformer with a less in depth hack-and-slash combat system

Are you still there dude because it's been a while
At the good part, you should also mention that the beanstalk on-rails kinda reminds me of Tarzan for PS1 and Tarzan Untamed for PS2

Oh no, i remember this game. Even as a kid, i was bored to death by it
0:05 Oh right, I forgot to add, that he says is "Why the HELL am I gonna play with my food?!"
Yay you translated it 😂
Dude that's huge about your first sponsorship! Congrats man :)
And he never made another video. So sad 😢

The automation definitely is a main factor as to why I'm not too positive on the gameplay. It feels like you don't have as much control as you should.
Where are you :(
I bet his sponsor was supposed to be Duolingo, but I guess Duo was too busy commiting war crimes in Austria.

Yo Frozen I have the ds game of this. I was hyped to play it until I saw a special message at the start
That sounds very ominous. Lol.

@@TheFrozenCavern oh and with how cheap the game is Americano by Lady Gaga isn't featured in the game as that requires money
I had the DS version of this game. Honestly one of the worst games I’ve ever played.

Yeah someone is compensating
It’s a character from Danganrompa, it really isn’t that deep💀
Yo why are you attacking a man who likes a game franchise? And compensate what? What does using a sprite from a game have to do with anything?
Why is Nagito Komaeda game reviewing
