    You also forgot about the traps. They make some good traps that let out a scent to attract the male. Mine have caught hundreds upon thousands when we had an unexpected infestations. I have about 10 of them around the house right now and a year later they probably have 2 which flew in from the door being opened. These things are hard to get rid of when you get them as they can have eggs anywhere in a crack.

    Gah dealing with this now!!! My pantry is completely empty, bombed by my pest control company (luckily it was free) and what I was able to save, is in a storage bin in my kitchen, sealed. I check the pantry everyday...not seeing any eggs or larva but I keep seeing 3-4 adult moths so I have a spray bottle of alcohol that I've been using to kill them. Before that EVERYTHING was infested. I had NO idea where the eggs were until I started looking hard. In the rim of all my spices, in my ziplock bag boxes, my aluminum foil boxes, the wrappers around my canned goods, under my spice rack. It was heartbreaking!! I THOUGHT I got all the eggs everywhere so for now I've got the spray bottle on hand at all times and I will not put anything back in my pantry until I don't see adults in there anymore :( this is so frustrating. I have never dealt with this before. Oh and we also have 4 traps in my pantry, I do see some dead moths in them.

      How do you properly use the spray bottle with alcohol to kill them?

    • @cewaffles
      @cewaffles 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. I ended up tossing a lot of bagged items and going through jars. I even had to toss new Ziplock bags :-(. Its tough. I had gotten rid of them, but they seem to have come back about 3 months later. So i am battleing it again. I got moth traps and such that work. I also picked up fly traps and added small cut off squares from the attractant, which seems to work. So wr only have a few flying around.

    They don't just hang out in your pantry though. They also hang out in your bathroom bedroom and any other place in your house. It doesn't matter if there is food there. I have an infestation of them in my back room and bathroom and they are also inside the cabinets. I live in California.

      Yeah dude it started in our pantry and I see ten or so moths just in a single room in our home. The kitchen is absolutely infested. Looking to try vinegar and moth traps tomorrow

      Right they fly everywhere especially at night. I could be watching the TV in the dark and one would fly right into my face!😤 Some like to hang out and sleep on the walls too at night, so check your walls. Those sticky traps work very well too but that gets very expensive because you need many of them in every room.

    We have been sucking them up and they are still popping up every freakin’ day!

    • @stoneschanify
      @stoneschanify 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      They have eggs somewhere else. Don’t just suck them up…. They mate and hatch in the hundreds . Find the source and throw away the food. Empty pantry’s and do a good SPRAY. Then buy the glue traps with the scent to catch any other dwellers. It took me about 3 weeks and now we are free of them but you must be on it.

    How do you get rid of the smell ?? That's the most annoying part! There's a bad moth smell lingering.
    I've thoroughly disinfected the cupboards twice with bleach and cleaner and deodorant. I also left them open for 2 days (but I was afraid it would be letting moths back into the cupboards). It's been like 2 months since I've managed to control the moth problem and yet the odor doesn't go away.

    I got an infestation of these moths in my outside patio area, not in my pantry. Would you share some insight on where they could be breeding from? I've had pest control spray & fog 5x's in the last month and they keep coming back. I'm in Arizona and they come in swarms after a monsoon.

    We found our cupboard surprise about a week or two ago and have done everything you said plus more. We still haven't put anything back in the pantry as we are still finding small baby moths and cocoons. Even after letting of an insecticide bomb. Do you have any other ideas on eradicating this problem? Please could you get in touch with me and let me know.

    I am fighting a small army of those things right now, I sprayed Bifenthrin on everything and the walls in my room with a sprayer.

      I've been using bifenthrin this spring to tackle mosquitoes in the yard as well as a bit of a wasp problem and so far it's working well. How did the bifenthrin work for your pantry moth problem?

    What product leaves a residual behind to kill remaining moths once they hatch? Will the CB-80 do that? Or is there something else you should use for that?

    I had those things this past Summer. At first I thought they were coming from outside, the ones who hang around the porch light. All I know is that they are a pain in the behind and hard to get rid of! I sprayed industrial strength bug spray several times, and they were gone for a minute and then back again! You will see 1 or 2 at night with the lights out flying towards your cell phone light or smack into your face UGH! 😤 They do love those sticky moth traps with the pheromones on it. I opened one up and they came out of nowhere straight towards me! A straight moth attack lol! 😅 But the traps paid karma to them lol.

    What essential oil mix could be made and used in leu of CB-80?

    • @kwp9270
      @kwp9270 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have a Raid brand spray that's supposedly safe for indoor use even if you have pets and children. It kills all insects on contact and the spray bottle says that two of the active ingredients are lemongrass oil and white mineral oil. The other active ingredients are geraniol, isopropyl myristate and ethyl lactate. Isopropyl and ethyl are two types of alcohol. I'm no expert but that would lead me to believe that alcohol and a mix of specific oils kill pests of all sorts. So far I've sprayed it on pantry moths, spiders, stink bugs and wasps and they don't live much longer than a minute or two after being sprayed. Hopefully this helps anyone who has the need.

    I’ve been having trouble with them and I’m so allergic to them. As soon as I go into the kitchen my eyes start watering.
    I thought they had gone with traps and sprays. I hadn’t seen any for 2 weeks and now they are back. I feel like moving out 😢

    So I found them in my spices. Got rid of them all, cleaned everything and put new spices in jars. We have the traps. Then I found them in my dried lavender and had to toss it all. Now we see one here and there and it has been a year. I am at my wits end. I have cats and rats as pets, so I can't use a bomb. PLus I am not sure those things are good to use at all.
