Thank you for showing me how much truck drivers and flight attendants have in common. Sometimes I feel like no one understands, but you just did. Thank you.
I’ve been married 14+ years. I have a 13 year old daughter and 12 year old daughter. I’m gone 40 weeks out of the year and have had a 2nd home in another state for 5 years. You guys can do it. You just have to take it one day at a time.
I needed to hear that last one! 👏👏 for the last 7 years I’ve gone above and beyond for people and put my life and needs on hold, I raised two of my siblings then helped with 3 of my nieces and nephews to babysit from 2 months old to 3years on top of my job. In the end I got no appreciation I feel so used and all I want now is to do this; I’ve wanted this for a very long time and I let it slip away but now is the time to do so. I want to leave and stay busy for me and to show people what they had but more importantly, I want to follow what I wanted to do since I was 11 years old; I flew a lone and I was scared and just feeling comfortable by the attendants made it so easy and smooth. I’ve been binge watching your videos. I’m nervous but I’m determined!

The reason you’re having some of these issues is because you don’t have seniority. Obviously you’re a very junior flight attendant with your airline. Well I flew after three years, and because I knew two other languages, my seniority shot straight up. My schedule was fantastic and I had a lot of time off. Not to mention I could bid the trips that I wanted. I was home more often than not and never had any of the issues you’re talking about. It’s all about seniority and I’m sure this plays out in any airline .
Yeah, but you still have to go through being a junior before you can gain seniority. Let's not discount that time spent. And the video was talking about what she wished she knew. Junior or Senior, it's still nice to know what you are getting into.
Patricia Gurwitz I was in the top 100 flight attendants at my company of thousands and I still felt the loneliness, exhaustion, craving for stability and difficulty in dating and having relationships. Moving my base to Boston was the best thing I ever did for myself. Found my husband and got stability. Grateful to know I’m not the only one who experienced this, even as senior as I was. I’m retired now. Good to be home.
I wish someone had told me not to wear 4” heels with a laptop tote bag as a traveling consultant and that day heels are inappropriate that high and a backpack & shock absorbing shoes will save your spine...

Mrs. Nesbitt! So glad you showed the Toy Story end screen! Binge watching in 2020. Not a FA but your advice helps retail managers, too! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Wow kat you made me cry...! Thank you for showing the reality that others try to keep hidden. I am still willing to become an FA even tho I know all this stuff now.
My favorite video of yours by far! I love your honesty. I’ve been binge watching all the vlogging FAs to get a good grasp and all seems to be fluffy and sweet. I think this is the realest truth. Something I wish someone had told me in life is to always be myself. I wish someone had given me permission to be fully expressed and real just the way I am. I am working in that now :)
I flew around the world for work for 12 years. I loved being on my own! Sure, I would make friends everywhere I went, but in all honesty, I loved being on my own. No restrictions! I had a long distance relationship, and also worked long hours. If you're in live you make it work. Lovely vlog btw

I flew with TWA before they merged with your airline and we had “open time” which meant you could arrange your schedule however you wanted for the most part. It was a game changing luxury. Too bad they lost that with the merge.
Yours were more relationship based. My numbers are these: #1 you will be broke. # unless you’re single and childless this job will suck, unless you don’t like being a mom. You will always be unavailable to your children while you’re on a trip. How mothers did this job is beyond, can’t relate. # you will work every holiday # will will have to move or commute for years. Having said that if you are single and childless this job is FUN AF. My friends and I would go on each other’s long layovers. We shared a commuter pad which was FUN. I loved it. But when my first baby was born, you couldn’t have torn me away from home with lasso.
I love to see you speaking seriously. I also enjoy your exuberance for the job where you brighten your whole plane, I would imagine. Is the Bento still your favourite personal item! .❤
Great video. I hope your video helps a lot of people because i believe a lot of people believe that being a FA is all good and fun, and they don't think about being alone most of the time, and things like that
*A very very long time ago:* _at the very beginning of my career, I was single which made it much easier to pick up and move to my first domicile. I still had my roots in Milwaukee, (which is where I met my partner), but being based out of Minneapolis-St.Paul made it tough on us. When my airline merged with a global airline, I had the chance to transfer to San Francisco(granted we still kept our place in Milwaukee), but my significant other(I know, 70s terminology) didn't want to leave his job. Long story short, with residing in the prettiest city on the West coast for work, yet keeping a place to go home to in the Midwest where my life and relationship felt centered, I had to make a choice between my career, or my partner. At the time I chose the former. (This is before deregulation, so F/As were paid well)._ *Fast forward:* _by the time the next relationship happened, I felt I was much smarter(and yes, this time chose love over a stellar career). What I wish someone would have told me was stay grounded, yet embrace your airline (especially their perks), and have a definitive career path. Given the current status of the travel industry today, and maybe a little into tomorrow, career flight attendants will have to take a step back, yet if they're cut out for the job, they'll be back to flying again real soon._ *Just so y'all know, this gal resonates some great content, great insight, and has a wicked good sense of humor. Oh and she's one of the brightest F/As in the sky.*
Very smart and humble, both my parents were airline employees, not pilot and strew(that long ago) but still a crazy life style. Kat knows the business is changing mounthky and may not be worth it in a years time.
I really needed to see this video. I have been craving stability for a while now due to wanting my own apartment, routine and a life. But I LOVE traveling and I LOVE being new places and I want to see the world.. so I was thinking of applying to flight attendant positions. but seeing this video has made it clear for me that I need to seek a stable life and just travel when I can. I love my family, I’m seeking hobbies and I’m seeking a life that can allow me to breathe. The flight attendant job seems similar to the restaurant industry - which just killed me.
Wondering if anyone tell you that the crew on the same flight especially when you’re new they can be very “catty” . When you asked a question, the answer is normally “what have you learned in training school you should know”. .My advice is, if you really like the job, bite your tongue and watch what the seniors do and normally it takes about four months to get used to the work and it should be alright.
You have made so many valid points about things you wish people had of told you! They are things that can apply to many jobs and something for us all to think about! Love watching your channel. Thanks so much, can not wait to see more!
Thank you Kat, for the other side of the lifestyle. This explains alot. I am close to DFW, and see the occasional flight attendant in my complex. Super friendly, but not interested in any kind of dating situation. Never looked at the side you spoke of. Thanks for the heads up.
Same for pilots, no stable schedule for the first few years, then you upgrade and start all over. Lots of overnights in places you don’t especially want to be, or short layovers with truly just time to eat, sleep and shower before going back at it. Flying is great fun, aviation careers, not so much.
New subscriber 😊 I just recieved my f2f interview and your videos are helping me a lot to make a decision Thank you for been so honest.. I love you channel
Love the video a lot. I can relate a lot to you. I work shift work and lot of time I don’t know my schedule anywhere from month- 2 months ahead and sometimes they change a few shifts or a whack load. Sometimes you don’t even know you next month schedule til a week before the next month starts. Videos like this should be watched before apply to jobs that are 24/7.

I mean not getting working hours until those doors close immediately told me Not for me. I'll respect you guys much more. Even though I never really ask for mch on planes anyway. 😆
I was a flight attendant when I was your age & I also was lonely, I just moved to a new city and had no family or friends so I get your feelings. You must learn to be happy with your own company, you’ve got to take yourself out to a restaurant with a book, take yourself to a movie or a play or a museum etc etc. After your second or third “alone date” you’ll start to get comfortable in your own skin. Good luck
Good info for those aspiring to enter this world, however the music was distracting. It was a little to loud. I kept trying to tune it out so I could hear you.
Hey Kat although this may apply for some people but from your facial expression I highly doubt this ever applied to you. 😎👍 This job is extremely particular and most people can’t do it ... but those who do know how to handle all that you mentioned. Your serious face was covering up a big smile behind the entire video. 👍
People just need to keep busy when in a relationship. It’s all really the same thing no matter what you do. If you’re working, you won’t be able to see anyone. Doesn’t matter if you’re 40,000 ft up in the air. Work is work, and some people in relationships have way too much time in their hands. Be thankful for your flight attendant partner. They are really hard workers.
So true! I've been working as a flight attendant for 12 years now. It's very difficult to balance flying, social life and a family, but not impossible :) in the other hand this is the best job ever. ❤✈
Great video, and some very real info and advice. thank you for sharing. Ive been applying and looking forward to a career change after working and raising my son for the last 20 yrs as a single mom. Although this can a lonely sounding job/career, there has to be the upside of meeting people from all over and see places you might never had a chance too.....??RIght? or am i just fishing for random possibilities ;-\ well either way, i am going to continue applying to various airlines, (*yours is my #1 choice, ive applied twice but just not a f2f yet) and still moving on and hoping to see a cjo somewhere to get that foot-in-the-door as they say.
It definitely has it's lonely moments but of course you will meet some AMAZING people along the way! The good by farrrrr out weighs the bad. I think this is the best job in the world but with every good thing there is always those few downsides. I highly recommend you keep applying!! And let me know if you have any questions along the way!!
Hey Kat. Thanks for this video. I am thinking of applying to be a FA but I’m still not sure. My husband is in the military and we already have a crazy relationship because he’s away a lot, I’m not sure if me being a FA will be good or it will just get things worse.
Mat let me tell you growing up I always found flight attendant life as glamorous. I don’t have the look for it and you perfect for it. I find you to be very professional and I see that you love what you do, and I so admire that. I am a teacher and I love what I do and you know they say the grass is always greener. I love to travel, so you have inspired me to appreciate the work of the flight attendant. I hope someday I have the pleasure of running into you on a plane where perhaps we could chat for a minute and just check in on you and see how you are doing. Your videos are wonderful and a very personal. Best wishes on all your future travels.
Wow thank you so much! One of my sisters is also a teacher and you guys have an amazing but tough job as well! Thank you for all that you do and I am so glad I can make content that you enjoy!!
I'm still in middle school and in a few months I'm going to 9th grade and for me I want to see the world you know see what's out there not be in a office, or anything that has to do in one place no offense but thank you really thank you I'll be looking forward ths
I’m confused, on one of your other videos you said that it’s flexible job and you know your schedule ahead of time so you can have a part time job but now you’re saying planning a head is impossible. Is that only when you start out?
TVision Sorry for the confusion, let me try and clarify what I meant. The job can be very flexible because you have the ability to move around work days, add flying, drop flying, etc especially with seniority because it’s much easier for a line holder to bid what they want or change their schedule. For a reserve flight attendant it is possible but can be tougher to do, but why I said you can’t plan ahead is because we don’t know our schedules until half way through the month prior at most airlines and it is not like a normal job where you can request vacation. We have to bid on our vacation towards the beginning of the year and what you get is based on seniority. Does that kind of help clarify? Sorry for the vagueness before.
Kat Nesbitt yes that helps so much! You’re fine, I’ve been binge watching your vids and I was a little confused. Thanks for clearing up and making these videos! :)
i get it completely my husband plays baseball hes gone a lot loneliness is real i cant tell you what next month entails or what its like if he will be traded rehomed or whatever is gonna happens

Hey Kat although this may apply for some people but from your facial expression I highly doubt this ever applied to you. 😎👍 This job is extremely particular and most people can’t do it ... but those who do know how to handle all that you mentioned. Your serious face was covering up a big smile behind the entire video. 👍
Truly life lessons
Super fucking real. Thank you. 🤞🏻
Wise words
Thank you!!
How can you plan doctor’s appointments or hair cuts....?
Very informative, thank you very much
What makes the job worth it Besides traveling anywhere and paycheck?
So true! I've been working as a flight attendant for 12 years now. It's very difficult to balance flying, social life and a family, but not impossible :) in the other hand this is the best job ever. ❤✈
I couldn't agree more with everything you said!!
Kat just turned down training. I’m disappointed, but not just me?? And I figured if I put this much effort into ABR’s… hello? Then RE. I can do it.
I always wanted to date a flight attendant but I never thought about the challenges of that until now.
Secret Life of Stuffed Animals yes it’s pretty tough 😩 but I’ve made it work in my past relationships.
wheretocurlysue Well I’m not an adult yet so I have a lot of time to think about it but flight attendants are mad fine!
I keep trying to find things on OT options how much and is it available or do people just wait around on reserve
Great information, thx
I enjoyed this video immensely. All the things I go through specially the dating part. 35 and single in this job. Dare I hope?
Wow thanks for saying how it's in reality no job is perfect I couldn't do that job I prefer normal jobs
Kat Nesbitt sorry for calling you Mat is was a misspelling. Sending my love and keep up with the great videos!
So to have a long career as a flight attendant one must have the devotion of a nun to your airline company, putting it ahead of everything else.
Lol I definitely wouldn't go that far.
lol
What a hilarious choice for a comparison! 🤣
I'm still in middle school and in a few months I'm going to 9th grade and for me I want to see the world you know see what's out there not be in a office, or anything that has to do in one place no offense but thank you really thank you I'll be looking forward ths
Thank you!!
This hair was a choice
i get it completely my husband plays baseball hes gone a lot loneliness is real i cant tell you what next month entails or what its like if he will be traded rehomed or whatever is gonna happens
What thing(s) surprised you the most about being a flight attendant, and were you able to talk to anyone you knew who flew in order to get an idea?
And would it help to have friends outside of the airline industry?
OMG I can't stop laughing 😂!
We're going to talk about some real @#$!* .... LMFAO
Keeping it on the realz
Thank you for this video Kat
Does anyone know which airline kat is in?
I used to work as a CNA at night, I am ready to apply for this job, but I just have 1 question. Do you need a college degree to be an FA?
You are not required to have a college degree, but it does help!
@@KatNesbitt I failed college, so never mind, thanks though
@@elgrigorio1 If you have a lot of customer service experience I would still apply
@@KatNesbitt 15 years of it, I'm 27 y/o btw; receptionist, shampoo person, nurse assistant, housekeeper, waiter host bartender, trusted advisor, currently LMT and administrative asst.
I can marry you 😍 hahaha I'm kidding. Thanks for your vídeo. I'm Brazilian, and I'm intending to be a flight attendant, and I'm studying English the same time
