- My Father Nelson purchased a 1962 White Freightliner.
It was his dream truck when he rode in one for the first time in 1968 when he was 15, now at the age of 69 (Nice) he finally has his own. He's got Freightliner Fever!

O man, gotta love that freightliner, I had a 71' twin screw, 250 Cummins, 10-spd, didn't have power steering but it drove like a caddy, wish I had it now,! Awsom video 🇺🇸😃

love the video, my dad bought two 1960 c/o white freightliners single axles then in 1965 bought two twin screws c/o's ,i was just a kid but it sure brought back a lot of memories! he had a contract hauling gas scrubber tanks from Niagara falls canada to detroit where they were rubber lined then haul them to mulberry florida . at the time it was a big deal it made the newspapers as being the largest loads hauled across the us /canadian border. they closed the ambassador bridge when he crossed, still have the newspaper articles packed away... back when truck drivers were truck drivers, we don't realize how plush trucks are today. i have a 1997 freightliner dump truck looking back that thing is like a cadillac compared to back then! thanks for the memories! brad from fla.

I like single axle cabovers & that’s usually my preference.🥰 Nice truck, nice drive & aerial view! Do you live near Peterbuilt Mike? Sweet ride you have! My oldest is a 1951 REO F22 RT wrecker. @@tybrandt 🇺🇸 Thanks for the updates. I thought it was an old Cummins! They sure had a unique sound.🧐 That’s one sweet truck! I’m glad it’s still around. I would see many old cabovers when I was a kid. You do see them today, but mostly at truck shows or just a few here in Ohio that are still working. We try to chase those down when we see them. Hope to see more on this rig! 🥰😎✌️

The first Freightshaker 2 axle I ever drove was a 1962 with a 220 Cummins back in 1971. We called them "Flat Dash Freightliners".

Hi. So, what is the engine in there ? Cummins 250 maybe ? used to have a '70 COE F'liner, with window in back center of bunk. Was 250 cummins; got shop to redo engine, with turbo. Then, it was a 270. good day, from Alberta.

Thanks for posting. Brings back memories of my 71 White Freightliner COE with a 335 Cummins 13 speed and 4.44 gears in the rears. 62mph was as fast as she'd go.
That 13 speed, musta only been a Direct Drive one. The trucks i owned, had similar specs, but with OVERDRIVE (RTO) 13 speeds. Passed a greyhound bus, once with cattleliner of steers, going to Regina from North Battleford. ( 74 COE kenworth-beautifull truck ! )

Bought it from a farmer, it originally was set up for hauling grain (heavy) with a Cummins 250. Truck got underwater in a flood, so he wanted the new335 so got that put in with the insurance money. But he had the pump turned back 40%. Surprisingly I had 300hp, and got 8 mpg loaded, 12 mpg empty. Half my miles were empty, so it worked out good.

Out of curiosity what does this get for mpg driving it without a trailer, it looks so cool that I'd want that as a daily driver lmao
He just drove it across country last month when I see him next I'll ask him about those kind of details seems lots of people are interested in this truck perhaps we should do some more videos on it

Nice truck. I used to drive them 48 years ago. These days I drive a Pete 379 with power steering and air ride on the drives. What luxury! By the way I notice you have a bit of trouble shifting that old girl. I'd be glad to give you free lessons so that you can shift it like butter. Drive safe!
