I don’t live close enough to shop there frequently. I did order 2nd day grocery delivery frequently, tho.
Over the last 6-12 months or so, they no longer ship some of my favorite items. Going to the store for maybe the last time today, to see what’s available.
Also just got a basic Sam’s club membership on sale yesterday for $14.

      1. Love that they brought back the soft serve chocolate ice cream at the Food Court. Next stop Combo Pizza please.
      2. Costco really needs to open a Business Center in the DC Metro area. Orlando & near NYC aren't very "convenient".

One constant is customer support. I bought expensive automatic expresso machine that started malfunctioning after 6 months. Not wanting to deal with shipping back to manufacturer for repair due to horror stories about manufacturer support I returned to Costco and they refunded the purchase price. I do not abuse the return policy but appreciated the support from Costco.

I like the membership, I don't mind having to show my card. It's a privilege you pay for. I do wish Costco and Sam's Club would quit buying food from China. I have to check everything I buy because I will not eat anything made in China. I have had many allergic reactions to the food from China, and I am not alone. I consider Costco to be a place that cares about people and their health. They carry a large variety of health foods. Food made in China is poison. Please research the food from China before putting it on your shelves 😊 I love Costco❤

Provide Handheld scanners for customers to use at self-checkout. It makes no sense to lift items out of a cart to scan then put them back in the cart. I like to load items with the bar code up and hand scan which is faster and easier as I do at Sams.

I’ve been a Costco member for more than 20 years. My local warehouse has been plagued with hoards of non-members who clog up the checkout lines for years. Members have ALWAYS been required to present their card to employees to enter the warehouse. They installed entry scanners six months ago. It takes two seconds to use the card scanners. (It does NOT take as long as a customs line at the airport.) The card scanning saves time versus being stuck in line behind non-members or card sharers who muck up checkout for every member waiting in line behind them. Don’t have a membership card of your own? Go shop at Walmart. The membership cards BELONG to Costco. Period. Read the membership agreement. It can be revoked at Costco’s discretion.

I don’t mind the extra scanning and/or looking/checking membership cards. We pay a fee to shop there and it’s not fair/okay for people who didn’t pay to come and get the discount we get. It’s like any other warehouse. It’s what makes Costco like any other warehouse different from other grocery stores. I don’t understand why people complain about paying a fee to shop there if they don’t like the fee. Then don’t pay and shop somewhere where there isn’t a fee. Also those are the rules we agreed too.
As far as prices, it does suck a little bit but it’s to be expected after so long. They can’t keep the prices down when it’s going up literally everywhere else, even with the manufacturers. They’d lose money and go out of business then we’d all be sad and upset and would have rather paid a bit more then never have a Costco. It’s just another thing we have to be aware of and watch prices and our budgets. I overall still enjoy shopping at Costco and will continue to pay for my membership.

Too much changes in a relatively short period of time seems like a recipe for disaster. Each with its own set of responsibilities and challenges. Communication is imperative for these changes between the parties involved.

The ONLY thing Costco gets wrong is their checkout process. The hardest thing to do in a Costco store is to GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY! From a company standpoint, the easiest thing to do in your stores should be to TAKE THE CUSTOMERS MONEY! Instead you have to stand in long lines to pay. I’ve literally walked out of stores after seeing the long lines.
The other thing that would improve customer flow is to open earlier. Opening at 10 AM is ridiculous. Most people like to run errands early and waiting until 10 AM is a complete inconvenience.
I have both a Sam’s Club and a Costco membership. Sam’s opens at 7 AM and you can use an APP to Scan-As-You-Shop. I only got the Sam’s Club membership for the times I just don’t feel like dealing with the frustrations that come with shopping at Costco!

They recently opened a Costco near us. I've been with Sam's forever since it was our only option. However for the price, the Sam's membership gives more benefits. I can't justify the expense of both and for the few items I can't get with my existing membership, it also does not justify the expense. I'm a disabled senior and curbside pickup is crucial for me. That is the one major thing Costco does not offer. The other is free shipping. I can get a lot of items delivered from the local store for free, and everything else comes via FedEx for free. Only fresh food has to be picked up (via curbside so I don't have to fumble through the store on my cane). Plus I can see local "in stock" status before I order. Also I get cash back annually without needing a store branded credit card. Costco is the opposite - you have to have their charge card and premium membership for the best cash back.

The first thing Costco did that I didn't like was discontinuing cash back. This has forced me to go to other stores when I'm going to be needing cash. If I'm on a trip, this can be very problematic.
Next, was the elimination of the deli mustard and the onions for my hot dogs. I understand that you can ask for onions at the counter and they'll give you a little cup. I'd probably need two.
My daughters dislike the discontinuing of the supreme pizza at the deli. We used to stop at the deli almost every time we shopped there. Now, it's maybe 1 out of 20. That's only for my daughters. They make do with what is there.
We are pretty big ice cream consumers. We really like the Nestle variety pack. It's amazing how seldom they get it in. Why would Costco's be preferred? The ice cream sandwiches, cones and bars are larger than you get in the supposedly same pack at any other store.
The self-check is our preferred way to check out. I don't know if Costco is getting value out of them. We have six scanners at the self-check. There is one employee at each pair and at least one other employee checking cards or pre-scanning items in the basket. That last is a big time saver and should be used much more.
