Australia: Downpours for NSW, VIC & WA in particular

- Every state and territory gets showers this week but they will be heaviest and most widespread across NSW, VIC and southern coastal WA. For inland and outback parts of NSW this should mean good news for those who need rainfall.
Showers continue around Qld, NT, TAS and SA but not as widespread or heavy.
WA is the driest of all with not much weather action - but showers continue in the south to south-west of the state.
We bring you the Big Picture forecast through to Sunday + a special rainfall map to make sense of it all.
Thanks Phil. Have a great week mate.
Look forward to some rainwater collection. Retired gardener here.
Thank you for a great overview and love the extra, in depth insights about how the weather works😊
Thanks for the great weather forcast.
Thanks Philip and crew
Awesome, you are awesome. First watch, won't be my last. You are my weatherman from now on.....
Thank you Phillip. You are my go to long range weather man ❤️
Farmer in nth vic. Haven't had a decent rain this spring. Starting to cut hay now. So might as well sent a bit of rain now to mess up the hay making.
Agreed. We're gasping for rain, north east vic.!🥵🙏🇭🇲💖
I AM A GARDENER IN SYDNEY AND RAIN IS A FRIEND. THANKS FOR YOUR CLEAR PRESENTATION.
Thank you again😊
Thanks, Philip, for the update. Unfortunately, it has changed so much since Thursday. The rain forecast in SA was going to reach as far north as Port Pirie, but now it'll only be to the top of St Vincent Gulf if you're correct. For the past 3 months, there's always been a good rain coming a week or two away, but it still hasn't arrived. A healing rain still needed for the late crops and for pasture to get stock through a long summer. The paddocks are as bare now as they usually are in March/April. We're situated on the edge of Goyders Line in central east South Australia. Farming in Faith.
Still could do with 25mm here on kangaroo Island SA and thanks for the update Phil
Hey Phil thanks! Retired gardner as well, so need that rain in Northern NSW!
Hell no we’re sooked
Can you please show at the end the entire movements of the chart for the week instead of snap shots per day? The direction of the movement isn't always clear it would be a really helpful summary over that timeframe. Thanks
Thankyou. 8 ml overnight here in Deans Marsh…the lucky ones I guess.
Thanks for covering Lord Howe and Norfolk noone else does. Your forecasts are pretty spot on.
Thank you Phil, job well done Sir
Excellonay! Thanks WWteam best onthe tube.💚 Mallanganee nsw
Thanks again!
Thanks N.Z. That's interesting about the wind. Started getting windier this arvo.🙏🇭🇲💖
Thank you
It just tried to rain here in Adelaide this morning. Alas the clouds were just teasing us😫😣 looks like another very dry month ahead😓😓😞😩. Anyhoo I’m sure we will survive somehow. Thank you TeamPhil inwards and upwards🎉🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
Phil's the best in the business🥇
Love your show! Thrilled that someone can articulate meteorology for us. My question, why don't your maps show the warm, cold and occluded fronts? I am now an author but prior to that a teacher for four decades, including climatology and meteorology.
I'm a gardener, I always want the rain. 😃
Thankfully, we got our heavy drop of rain around 1 - 2 pm & for some reason I didn't even notice it but the rest of the family did. I was asked if I didn't hear the thunder & upon reflection it probably was thunder I heard above me but I thought it was my grandson moving things about. So I was able to attend my 4.50 pm appointment without getting wet. The skies were black to the east & black to the north once we got over the hilltop. So most of it going to the north of us. Still my pot plants looked wet & happy!!
hi. the ants in the lawns have been telling me that rain is coming as they build up their entrance holes for protection. Do they do that where you are? everything is so very dry and thirsty at Nowra and we are hoping for lovely, lovely rain. thanks for your forecasts and maps.
Truck driver here, living in soggy Latrobe Valley, South East Vic. Can't mow my bloody lawns! Too boggy.
Need rain in Melbourne mate. Very dry with those winds we had consistently a couple of weeks ago. Gardener here
Thank you Phil still doing silage so Tuesday Wednesday coming through, might muck up us a bit. We are around Holbrook NSW. Check it out Oberon class Submarine in middle of town. But other farmers want the rain to keep the grass growing. Aussie Jeff Moore
cheers for a solid weather update . Retired postie
Great work yet again Phil and the team. Best weather forecast 👍👍👍 I'm heading to rhe motogp over the weekend, so if u could, please ease off on the rain. Btw Phil, Bathurst was a HOOT!!! 🍺🥃🍹🥳🥴
So the rain forecast for my neck of the woods for last friday and saturday, which as usual were less than useless drizzle, and then was coming Monday, Tuesday, looks like now out to Friday and then after that the 12th of never. Weather bureau definition of showers: as long as it rains somewhere we were right.
My daughter and husband moved to Hobart some years ago so I always kept an eye on what the weather there was like. BOM seemed to always say “showers for Hobart”. Hah! My daughter’s interpretation of those “showers” - enough to keep the laundry on the line from quite drying. Mostly now BOM just ignores Tasmania, sometimes they don’t even mention it.
As a keen astrophotographer I'm the opposite to everyone on this channel - we want clear skies! 2024 hasn't been a great year for anyone in SE Queensland :-( My best efforts this year was when we travelled out to Winton and western Qld - there are great skies out there...
Thanks phil
Good October rains set us up for a good hay season in Southwest Victoria, now the silage is pretty much over
Well, its 4.20pm Tuesday in Northern Vic, its humid, overcast but still dry but it shows some promise.
You’re the best Phil 👋
Yes Phil, Bathurst could have done with a downpour !!. What a boring procession it was. Same can be said of F1 just not what it was 😢
Hi Phillip, if you could arrange a bit more rain on the far south coast of NSW in Merimbula that would be great as we have been missing out lately. Thanks in advance.
It's Spring, the rain is more than welcome for the Tablelands of NSW.
Hi Phil!
Do you remember that October last year saw the premature evolution of two Coral Sea cyclones? I'm wondering if that system near Tonga could have reached TD status and if there are any indicators for a repeat of the uncommon 0023 pattern in 0024?
I'm now a builder. Prediction of weather is important for my business success. Climate change makes life more difficult and expensive
It's raining a bit in CQ today. I'm a semi-retired tradie, so outside work is limited in rain.
Cheers Phil :)
I'm in Melbourne and definitely don't want rain this Friday because I have to ride a mobility scooter to an appointment. Gaaah 😨😅
Top of Northern Territory is called "The Top END"
Wake up ppl! I’m not even going to say it
And i wonder, still I wonder.
Who will stop the rain.
As a surfer I always love to see the rain up on the Gold Coast turn into an ECL (East Coast Low) which drifts south east down to Sydney, giving us the goods and nothing for the northerners. Surfers imagine the weather gods dispensing unevenly. Sometimes in favour sometimes not. That's why sacrificial practices still exist in some backward surf communities ... like Cronulla in southern Sydney. ;)
Hello sir how much rain in Shepparton?
Pouring down here in Perth at 3.00
Will only say that when forecast is for 1 to 5 ml....the mls stand for drops of rain.....this year spiralling down the toilet at a great rate of "nots"
Storm coming for you 😅
Cool
Excellent please send rain to Eyre Peninsula
Yesterday rainfall 20mls
Watching this at 4:15 am Tuesday 15/10/24 in Adelaide South Australia and it's blowing it's tits off outside.
Next update 21/10/24
Where I'm Sitting rightNow 1700 hrs,
Something is Coming...
mmmm your comment on bathurst was ambiguous?????
I think Phil was hinting at what many of us were thinking. A bit of rain brings some action to the race
He either meant it was boring or he doesn't like car racing , but rain really makes for more fun and PRANGS!
Temora warbirds this weekend, under a cloud now thats for sure…bugger.
1 more week to go 😅
Im at Byron Bay … 😭😭😭🍷😭😭😭😭
Poor farmers right near harvest
Yes, it was a boring race.
Rip😅
Thanks mate, appreciated.
Thank you
