  • Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and soon, the Next Generation Car!
    More rains & strong storms came through last night, and some lingering clouds when I arrived, but visibility was pretty good! Lots of activity on the south end, and for the first time, we see Cybertrucks stored in the multi-level parking garage, mainly on the west and south sides and on several different floors. I'm not sure if this is a concerted change in process to clear out the old testing lot, or if this was related to weather last night, but this is a significant change!
    Timestamps:
    Drone flight overview with discussion & illustration: 0:06 to 3:50
    Drone flight footage & infographics: 4:07 to 32:45
    A few other highlights to call out in the images and video to look for include:
    The south end extension continues to make progress on multi-le fronts, including more concrete on the inside, additional pipes, bollards, electrical boxes on columns and more floor & roof decking being applied to the steel structure. The structure itself is nearly completed, with the sole crane at work on the small section of open space on the east side.
    Crews were also adding more glass panels on the southwest cornet, while other crews were busy installing more roof insulation panels and weatherproof membranes to help complete the roof and keep the rains out of the main structure.
    At the structural cooling platform, more of the Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) scaffolding was being installed on the roof, and I provide a informational discussion on what these are and how this may look once completed. This is from a company called EVAPTECH, which is a subsidiary of EVAPCO.
    As mentioned, the multi-level parking garage is rapidly being completed, with most of the lights installed on the roof, along with painted parking slots, while in other areas, crews were working on stairwells, elevator shafts and concrete prep for the ground slab on the far east side of the structure. Lane markings are also visible just inside the north end, and I would think we will see asphalt paving around the structure in the next few weeks to allow the entire structure to be used without having to drive through mud.
    On the east side of casting, the mud base on top of the screw-type piers is completed, as are most of the forms, and today, we see crews laying out rebar which will form the reinforced slab of the future bag House filtration system. Further to the north, another large section where concrete was removed shows some trenching and prep work to allow more screw-type pier installation as well as continued reconfiguring of the three loading docks. More of the collectors for the furnaces or the Bag House plant and related parts were stored outside this area today.
    Finally, conduit trenching, installation and concrete vault placement continued on the northeast corner of casting and at Tesla Road, where crews were preparing to extend the conduit south under Tesla Road to eventually connect to the northeast casting area.

      I'd say Tesla spends more resources fixing & patching over this "Sewer main lift station" than was potentially "saved" by being stingy with the original design. Considering the site is only expanding, a redesign is in order.

      Speaking of lift stations... We still don't know for sure where the high pressure output from the EOL lift station is going to go. We can only speculate that it might discharge into the local neighborhood sewer system on the westside. And then there's the output from the Cathode/DIE Shop lift station. I know they were trenching west on the northside of Tesla road. But then where does it end up?

      @@Nphen 12-18 months ago an additional vault was installed with various valves and pumps. Bottom of screen at 11:28.
      To left of that has been excavated and left open for many months as well.
      There's also been pump trucks at many of the satellite lift stations around the building on many occasions. A quick scan of my notes shows at least 25 mentions.
      Plus at many locations around the building, and occasionally visible inside GA are trailer porta-loos.
      Plumbing not my field, but given the issues from the day it was commissioned I'd say there's either a fundamental design fault, or some constant equipment failure.

    To me, it looks as if the pipe diameter coming out of the cooling units is the same as the pipes being installed on the second floor. Most folks don't understand the sheer amount of cooling that Dojo will need when fully operational. We're talking megawatts worth of waste heat, even with record efficiency per compute cycle. Hence the amount of cooling towers you would see at a 25 MW NatGas plant. My current hypothesis is that the glass windows are to showcase what will become the world's most powerful compute cluster.

    Boring tunnel seems to be stopped at the berm on the east side of the highway. A bit concerning that there is some clear ponding from the rain directly above where the TBM cutter head is assumed to be 12:54 . This may be related to the appearance of the grouting company at the entrance. It may equally be completely coincidental.

    • @DessieDoolan
      @DessieDoolan 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Am I imagining some grey coloured water at 12:56?

      I saw that water also.
      Looked a bit contaminated. Maybe from the foam agent squeezing up through the ground.
      Grout people may be there for the grout plant repairs, but it seems like a sub-contractor, rather than a supplier repair team.
      Definitely something not right as the progress has all but stopped.

      @@davidsalisbury50 I wouldn't have noticed the water had you not mentioned it. The different colour doesn't seem like it could be a reflection as the adjacent pooled water is showing earthy brown colour.
      @Gig0Surf commented that there is a drilling rig visible to the left at 9:33 in between the trailers.
      Possibly a soil test rig scoping out the next tunnel alignment. The grout company may have got the soil test job. Their trailer signage mentions drilling.

      Interesting catch. Random check ~ Apr 17 video at 23:30 and 28:53 at least some of that water might have been collecting there previously, there might be better videos or angles post rainy day from Joe or Brad [no time to look]. I'm not saying there isn't an issue, the drill grouting company implies that, just wondered if that wasn't already a problem spot.

    I counted the liners stacked outside the tunnel entrance. Assuming all they will need are sitting there, and using the dimensions from your Boring Company Tour videos (Part s1 & 2 - don’t miss them!), there are about 40 ring segments, or only 120 feet more to install.

    • @davidsalisbury50
      @davidsalisbury50 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Rings are 5 feet long. More stored up the side road.
      About 125m worth still on site, but, seems some are damaged (red paint). So maybe only 110-115m worth left on site.
      Should take the tunnel to the edge of the perimeter road.

You're not going to put a $500 million dollar to a few billion dollars' worth of Nvidia or Tesla AI chips next to vehicle production. I think there was recent news about Tesla's own humongous AI chip going into production @ TSMC and how big the power requirements are going to be. BTW, search for videos on the Aurora and Frontier supercomputers @ the two different National Labs. Also, I think there is a hiring freeze. Elon needs a Sandy Munro "Don't try to save me any money. I can't afford to save money" lecture on stuff like this. And how they didn't simply build a giant utility tunnel for *all* the conduit underneath the site before they started building is beyond me. Disney World has tunnels underneath for staff & supplies. No need for Boring Co tunnels; they infilled in the whole site. They could've a whole network of tunnels under the site for employee passenger shuttles, water lines, and electric conduit alike. Don't have an exact number but if you simply flipped Giga Texas vertical... It would be about 4,000 feet tall.
      In square footage comparison......
      Giga Texas has 10 million square feet. For comparison One World Trade Center has 3.1 million square feet. However, there are several other buildings in the World Trade Center complex. So it is probably about comparable to the World Trade Center in square feet.
      Note: Heights don't include spires, antennas, etc.
      One World Trade Center 104 floors, height 1,368 ft.
      More comparisons....
      * The twin towers of the original World Trade Center had 10 million square feet. With a total of 13.4 million square feet for the complex.
      The North Tower 110 floors, height was 1,368 feet
      South Tower 110 floors, height was1,362 feet
      * Burj Khalifa has 5.67 million square feet. 163 floors, 2,717 ft. tall.

    • @DavidJohnson-tv2nn
      @DavidJohnson-tv2nn 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      To look at it another way.... One World Trade Center has a footprint of 200 feet x 200 feet, or 40,000 square feet per floor.
      In order to have 10 million square feet, it would need 250 floors.

I researched a lot of YT video's on loading liquid N2 and a hose running out of a truck isn't particularly long, so a truck would have to back up pretty close. The concrete slab was being poured then, and it seemed logical to immediately bury the bollard points. But nothing of the kind. In the meantime LOX warning signs have been spotted on at least a couple of the vessels, increasing the Hazard level considerably. It really has me stumped, the cavalier attitude around these critical facilities for Cathode operations. A brand new factory where exacting and pioneering science is being translated into a first of a kind large scale process would benefit from a bit of operational control I would think. Contractors OUT, a fence or No Admittance signs IN, and any follow-up construction, plant change or maintenance to take place under strict supervision. In such a scenario the lack of bollards you rightfully mentioned would have been tackled eons ago. There is overwhelming industrial evidence and lots of case studies where loose attitudes have resulted in gradually most or all of the multiple safety barriers being eroded until finally a worst case scenario can happen and does happen.

    • @Cybertruck_69
      @Cybertruck_69 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Cooling towers are for heat rejection. They are basically a radiator coil that has a fan that can often vary the airflow over the radiator coil using a variable frequency drive. Fan has a motorized damper on intake. Then there is a water pan that has a pump to spray water for another way for cooling, often using variable speed drive. This pan should have a water inlet control valve and a drain valve. The water pan that catches the sprayed water should have a thermostatic immersion heater. When ambient air is near freezing, the pan heater prevents freeze ups. Then if the pan gets too cold (🥶 freak storm) the inlet valve closes, drain opens, spray pump stops, and electric heat tracing is energized. The overall cooling tower coil size should be sized to cool the primary process without water spraying with ambient at the freeze protection lockout.

    "Storing Cybertrucks"? With the "fully sold into the far future" demand, why would they store them? Because they aren't finished for one reason or other? Because there is some pending rework for a change or problem? Because the demand isn't what they hoped and have been touting? Reduced Model Y production because they laid off workers? Well, yeah. But why'd they lay off workers, resulting in production capacity cuts? The unsaid obvious is that demand is not currently supporting the production rate they were running at. This seems consistent with the pricing actions of late. (Not to mention scattered reports of Model Y's filling lots in various places around the country.) Finally, something I've been wondering for a number of recent videos, why scrap so many 4680 cans? They spent good money taking paid for materials and making the cans and will get pennies on the dollar recycling them. Production process not in control--not producing in-spec parts consistently? It seems odd…
