- Debiganj is an upazila of Panchagarh district. The natural beauty of Debiganj is very pleasant. The heritage & historical background of Debiganj is very rich.
There are two different views on the naming of Debiganj. The first is that in ancient times, idols of many gods and goddesses could be found in this Hindu inhabited town. Many people think that the name of this area may be Debiganj due to the abundance of idols of gods and goddesses.
The second opinion is that the region was named Debiganj to immortalize the memory of Bengal's fiery goddess Devi Chowdhurani, one of the leaders of the peasant-monk-fakir revolt who took part in the anti-British movement.
Eye-shoothing natural beauty, historical installations and events of Debiganj are the main attraction to the Tourists.
The 4th China Friendship Bridge was built on Karatoa River at Debiganj. The bridge was inaugurated by Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 14 February 1996. Karatowa Bridge is located only a half kilometer west of Debiganj Upazila Sadar. The length of the bridge is 6.40 meters. As a result of the construction of the bridge, an alliance was formed between the two banks of the fast flowing Karatoya.
Jagbandhu Thakur Bari of Debiganj has been playing a leading role in organizing various festivals including Puja for hundreds of years. Every year Saraswati Puja, Lakshmi Puja, Kali Puja and Durga Puja are organized with the most pomp. During Durga Puja, a week-long fair is held in the temple premises. As far as is known, this Temple was established by Maharaja Nripendra Narayan Bhup Bahadur in 1914 during the rule of Cooch Behar.
Nripendra Narayan Government High School was established in 1906 by Maharaja Nripendra Narayan Bhup Bahadur, the father of modern Cooch Behar and a prominent scholar. At the time of its establishment, the name of the school was "Nripendra Narayan English School". In keeping with the evolution of time, the school is now being run as 'Nripendra Narayan Government High School' or 'NN Government High School'.
Debiganj Dak Banglow is an ancient architechture built by Maharaja Nripendra Narayan Bhup Bahadur. He stayed at this Dak Banglow when he comes to collect revenue at Debiganj Pargana.
The area of Mainamatir Chor is about 40 acres. It is basically a chor rising on the bank of the Karatoa River - from a distance which looks like a small island. The breathtaking natural beauty of this island will touch your mind. The cool breeze and secluded environment of Moynamotir chor has become one of the attraction for the tourists of Debiganj.
Bengal's fiery goddess Devi Chowdhurani, one of the epitomes and famous leader of the monastic revolt, roamed freely in this region. He won several battles with the British on the banks of the Kartoa, Teesta, Atrai and Kurum rivers flowing through the dense forests here. Devi Chowdhurani became a symbol of hope and bravery to the exploited & deprived people of this region. Devi Chowdhurani, the fiery daughter of the anti-British movement, used to roam freely on all these rivers from Rangpur to Baikunthnagar. To protect herself from the wrath of the British, she would occasionally come to all these areas with barges and hide herself. This region on the shores of Kartowa was then full of dense forests. At that time no one would come to these areas with fear.

@@Shahi-bangalah_1352 সময়ের সাথে সাথে সবকিছুই বদলে যায়। আপনি-আমিও এই সময়রে মধ্যে অনেক বদলে গেছি। নতুন দেবীগঞ্জকে তুলে ধরার জন্য খুব শীঘ্রই আবার আসবো। ভালো থাকেন, সুস্থ্য থাকেন। ধন্যবাদ ভাই।
