Juletta Thiessen yes!! I love the live streams. Totally feels your hanging out with them 😄 I’m in college and SO wish I went to Isaiahs school 🤣 not to be creepy lol..I just think being his friend would be full of fun !!!
Cilla saying “you scared them” reminds me of the vine where the guy sneezes and the lady yells at him for scaring the deer 😂 “RON” “what I’m not allowed to sneeze??”
In England most people move to different parts of the country to go to uni but you share like a flat/house so you have your own bedroom and bathroom but share kitchen and living room
So excited for Isaiah. I left my home to go to college in a different state. Didn’t know anyone. He will meet so many people so quickly, y’all have nothing to worry about. Enjoy every minute of it!!
This is how I felt when my friend and I were invited by the Maass family to have a cookout during vid con last year. So random. Such a nice experience. Such nice people! I am so happy for Isaiah!
Watching these videos in NC...brought all kind of feelings back to me when I was seeing my son off to college...tears...I feel for you all....its so bittersweet...I get it.
I met my best friend in college 9 years ago. I can’t imagine my life without her now. You never know this roommate could become your lifetime bestie. Have a great time at App State Isaiah and make lots of memories!
My parents live in the mountains of Northern Georgia, the bears roam free up and down the creek behind the house. Once you know the smell of bear you just go inside. They stink 1000% worse then a dead skunk lying in the sun. Us city folks get use to that real quick
In the Netherlands people move to different parts of the country to go to uni, but they share a house or flat with other young people. You have your own bedroom and share the rest of the house/flat
People in the UK travel to study. Granted the UK is a LOT smaller haha, but I traveled 4 hours north to study (and then to Europe for a year in between). College culture seems a lot different in the US I like learning about the different perspectives.
One of the greatest pieces of advice I got when I started college was the friends that you meet at freshman orientation may not be your friends all four years. The best advice I can give you is get involved in everything you possibly can your freshman year, and try different things. It wasn’t until my sophomore year of college that I found my true group of college friends. I’m so excited for you Isaiah, And wish you the best in your freshman year!
I graduated from App a couple years ago.. i loved seeing you go all through Boone. Made me miss it even more. 😭 Isaiah is gonna love it, so happy for him!!
yeah in the UK college = sixth form which is the last 2 years of american “high school” but u usually specialise in 3 subjects or get a qualification in something more vocational. but what american’s call “college” is the equivalent of UK university which we do travel and live in halls for. hope this made sense! i’m getting my results tomorrow to see whether i get into uni ://
As someone in PA, growing up and living at the end of the Appalachian mountains, the views NEVER get old and everyday I stop what I’m doing & gaze at the family of deer in my backyard when they gather just outside of the patio door. The deer here are endless. Though they’ll total a vehicle and lives, I still see them as beautiful, even after 29yrs, so don’t worry, not everyone takes it for granted up here (and I laughed at your mountain driving. That’s all it is here to get absolutely anywhere! Absolutely no road is flat. We even have the steepest street in the country!)
In Australia, it’s more people from the country that move to the city for uni. But it’s definitely a thing. However, parents might help them move into a college (colleges are what we call dorms), but more often than not the teen just arrives on their own, and is more likely to live in a share house than a college, as it’s much cheaper. We’re a lot more laid back about the whole going to uni/college thing.
As an Australian currently living in a sharehouse, I second this! There are definitely student accomodation (dorm) options, however most people tend to find their own accomodation. Also, our “dorm” equivalent is usually smaller private rooms rather than sharing with a stranger.
Not many family get to go up with there child and stay somewhere and check out the city campus and people! You guys are an incredible family!! I’m so proud of all of you !
I love that you all are making a big deal out of Isaiah leaving for college!! I live in Ohio and went 3 hours away for college but my parents didn't do much of anything to help me prepare. I pretty much planned everything and had to ask them to help me move my stuff in freshman year, but did it alone every time after. Never got a care package from home either. I don't know if it's because I was the first to go to college in my whole family, so they didn't know how to be supportive? But I definitely would have benefited from the kind of support your family is showing him. I'm excited for him, but will definitely miss his humor in the vlogs!
I stumbled across your channel a few weeks ago. I don’t have any children with autism, but there are a few in the community I live in, in New Hampshire. I cannot stop watching! You all are the most beautiful, loving, fun, down to earth people ever! You bring a smile to my face everyday! ❤️😊
I'm from England and tomorrow morning i find out whether or not i get into the uni of my choice so that is extremely nerve wracking. Most people move away to uni in England too i'm hopefully moving 1 and a half/ two hours away no where near 8 hours but it will be very strange going from a small town to a main city. We have a completely different experience to you guys in the U.S i don't share a room with someone i have my own room and en suite (not all accommodations do have en suites) i will be basically be staying in a block of flats which is classed as my accommodation and there are six rooms and one kitchen so i will have five flat mates and we will share a kitchen and living area i have been able to speak to four of these people for a couple of months and get to know them a little thanks to a Facebook group. I'm finding it extremely interesting watching Isaiah's journey to college and how our two experiences differ. :)
Isaiah please never let anyone change who you are at the core. You're a wonderful person. I'm very happy you have a roommate you can get along with. As for the bear. If you think its a bear, get out of there. Or if camping, wear a cow bell. It helps them know to stay away.
We go away to university here in the UK. I lived about 2 hours away from home & stayed in halls of residency (dorms) for all 3 years of my degree. We had single rooms in a flat of 6 with a shared kitchen and bathroom. A few halls and flats had shared double rooms but you didn’t meet your roommate until you moved in.
I think when he’s away at college he needs to do a day in the life of a college student n all that jazz and vlog every once in a while and he can send the videos to his dad and he can add them to the vlogs... who else agrees...???!!!
I was randomly assigned a roommate freshman year of college! We hit it off great I roomed with her older sister the next year and rented a house with her the final two years of college. We still keep in touch to this day. Didn’t think we had much in common to start with but it ended up being a great fit! You’ll do great Isaiah!
In sweden some go to uni near their homes others move away. But we do not do dorms like that we have either appartments or everyone has their own room but share a kitchen and common area. I went to a uni like an hour drive from home, but 3-4 hours by train and bus so I ended up moving there. If we were forced to live in dorms with strangers I would probably never have been able to stay, I need my safe zone home to handle my autism.
In Canada students go to College or University and they do often move away from home and live in residence but usually only for their first year. Then they meet their friends and often rent a house or apartment with them, because it is so much cheaper than residence. This year because of covid most of the Universities are doing online learning and students are not allowed in residence. I feel bad for all the first year students who won’t get to meet friends or be involved in all the social aspects of University.
It is so funny seeing Priscilla's reaction to the deer, because I live in Indiana and the deer are everywhere. We have to watch out for them, but it's awesome to hear Priscilla's reaction to them! I really love it!
Welcome to the wilderness, guys! Mountains, curvy hills, wildlife eating in the landscaping, BEARS! Oh, my! Seriously, I'll bet Isaiah's gonna love it! Just think how much fun you'll have when you come to visit. Looks like a great place for your next family adventure vacation.
"UNI" .... I remember my Son, going off to Uni, in 2015. Lots of Mummy Tears !! Student Village, at Waikato University in New Zealand. Woo-Woo !! Now, a Law Graduate. Passed 'The Bar'. Soon, to be Admitted. So Proud, of Connor Jonti Piers !! (My Isaiah.)
This is such a fun adventure for your whole family! I want to say thank you for showing your lives and Abbie’s various therapies. My sister and her husband are foster parents and both of their sons have various challenges. One has a chromosomal deletion with severe disabilities. I just got them the color matching cones and rings and the fine motor hedgehog! Because you share your lives we are able to help my nephews so much more easily! ❤️🖐🏻
You guys are too cute looking at the deer! Where I live there are so many deer they have literally learned to use the crosswalk near my house. There is a family of deer that regularly eat on our front lawn. The deer are everywhere
That mining activity was a real sensory winner, sand, water, stones and a bit of a jiggle thrown in. There were some nice gems in there, did you get to keep some? Abbie is doing so well with her mask, it’s almost like at times she forgets. My first college roommate was a complete opposite to me and at first it was awkward but after a few days we became great friends and were so sad when our time together ended. Glad your roommate was nice, I hope you will become great friends and have some adventures together. I’m so excited for you Isaiah.
I wonder how many people watch that don't have autisim in there family. My adult son is on the spectrum very high, a little ashbergers and some learning struggles. I also have a grandson who has dealings of autisim. I mainly watch cause I love you guys.
Talk about meeting someone who will be a great friend for life. My grandson just married his classmate at university. They are in second and third year in September. I wish them well. Isaiah and friend are so lucky to find each other so fast. PORT PERRY ONTARIO CANADA
Girl I live in America and as soon as I got to college my parents left and didn’t stay or visit once. Definitely not a foreign thing to be distant like that lol
I moved to Ireland from Germany for College - I'm home for Christmas and Summer but I'm not planning to move back home after I'm finished - it was though in the beginning but it's the best thing ever now :) Home is always there but I like my independence as well. Have fun at college Isaiah!
Isaiah is the cutest and one of the funniest young men! He will go far on just his personality not too mentioned everything else he has going! ❤💛❤💛❤💛❤💛
I'm from South Africa and ended up going to uni 14 hrs away from home, and stayed in res (residence / a dorm). They didn't pre-assign roommates, we all just arrived, mingled for 10 min, and then had to sign up to a room. I signed up with the only person I was able to have a conversation with that lasted longer than 1 min - because we both liked Veronica Mars. Fortunately turned out great and we ended up being roommates / house mates for the next 5 years. The sucky part was that over the long holiday breaks, the res closed and you had to put all your stuff in storage. So most students end up going home over the holidays.
You guys should get Abby a sand table and bury gems in it. I think she would absolutely love it. My son has high functioning autism and it was his favorite thing for years. When he was stressed out, he would destress with it
I love how you can see the beauty in deer on the side of the road....I am born and raised in northern Illinois where we rush past them and hope and pray they don’t cross the road and hit you!
You guys are welcome here any time, we have deer every morning come to eat right outside the door, and all kinds of wild life in our front property, especially near the pond in the morning!!!
Oh my goodness I may meet Isaiah! I go to Boone atleast once a month and live in the next town over. It’s a great place many people don’t even lock their cars. This is an awesome place for him to grow and make connections.
My freshman year roommate and I were very different people, and she is still one of my best friends along with the rest of the 1st floor hallway from college more than 15 years later. Being thrown into a dorm with someone can actually teach you a lot about yourself and others!!! Enjoy the experience Isaiah!
Yep, so true, If someone here (in The Netherlands) choose a uni, I think you can stay at home. Most will live in "houses" with others, not dorms though. We don't have the that kind of dorms, but we have sort of. But most will choose a cheap place were you live with others and have to share everything exept your bedroom. And for those uni-people here, most will go back to their parents in the weekends. Different world.
I love the strum in the intro. Also I love the time you upload videos to this channel, it's right when I get home for the evening and want to wind down and experience some "family time" with your family
I love pricilla’s reaction to the deer. Where I live we have them everywhere. It’s not unusual to see them in our front yard. I don’t think a day goes by that I don’t have to stop or slow down when driving because they’re in the road or near the road, but I still have the same reaction that Cilla just had. They’re the best 💕
I've been watching you all for a bit but this vlog is the funniest! Loving the family chatter\banter in the car before and after the "blind date". I appreciate what you are going through as my oldest is off for her first year in college in a week.
I'm 23 and still in college and I still live at home and I'm honestly okay with that because theres no surviving on my own at the moment lol. Balancing school and work is crazy. And Isiah dont be to worried! College is a fun experience and it's only scary for a little while then it's just a new normal and you forget it was ever different than the way it is now.
I find it so funny that you guys are so enthralled with all the dear. 😂 Where I live I literally see deer multiple times a day, nothing new! Midwest life!
Idk what it is but Cilla talks to Abbie in a different ( sweeter) voice. It's consistant too. I know she loves her children but moms daughters are always a special place.
My kids are both 3 and 4 hrs away for uni / college, but 6 to 8 hours had also been on the plan (it's a bit different here in Germany...), and our youngest went to Canada for 3 months for work experience, and Italy for a semester. And now he's waiting (thanks, Corona) to be let into Canada again for his master's degree. I've always wanted the kids to feel free and follow their dreams, because I couldn't (surrogate parent for my mum and younger siblings issue)
I'm exactly where Isaiah is. A freshman moving into college in a few weeks and when you mentioned van life I got excited because my plan is to build out a van to live in and freelance for a few years. My ceramics teacher hear me talk about van life and that's all we talked about senior year. lol.
Priscilla discovering elk is the best!! I like in NC and was up in the mountains this past weekend and they were out all over!! We even saw a bear cub while driving!
I live in Virginia and when I was in 4th grade we moved from Richmond to the county. Every night for weeks I would wake up to someone clawing aggressively on the out side of our house... it was terrifying! Everyone in the house was convinced there was a ghost or someone trying to break in. I had to sleep in my parents room until they decided to get a deer cam and we learned what was actually going on... it was just the deer rubbing their antlers on the side of our house!
In the UK, you are in what is called halls for the 1st year but you have your own room, sometimes your own bathroom but you share a kitchen and living area. Then after that you have to get a shared house with a few friends you've made, you only live on campus for the first year. Also, you can go to whichever uni you choose as long as you get the grades so they let you in therefore it could be 8 hours away but it's generally 2 or 3 hours away from home. You do have the option of living at home if you get into a uni near by or you can do a degree with the Open university which is done online. Just a little background information for you, it is very different in different countries!
My college roommate and I didn't have much in common at first, but we've been best friends since we left school six years ago. She really wanted to be my friend even though I wasn't sure about her at first (I have a hard time with new people), and she eventually wormed her way into my heart.
I moved 6 hours away for Uni in Germany. I think one difference is that housing is not organized by the university itself alone. There are student options but most of the time you just rent a normal apartment with other students. And no shared dorms, a own room is minimum standard with shared common areas. As Germans are adults with 18 and allowed to drink at 16 parents just aren't involved as much in general.
I cannot imagine how my first roommate’s parents would have responded if my parents had been like ”we’re TH-camrs.” Then again it was 2010 and I was in Montana 😂. I so wish I could have been there to witness that.
Love! Love!! LOVE!!! Cilla's "suit up"!!!! As she puts on her mask!! Best wishes to Isaiah in University! Love this family and their vlogs! Hugs n love to ALL! Abbie is rocking that mask! Love to see her enjoying new things and broadening her experiences.
Our kids started calling yellow cars “skittles” and we race to touch the car ceiling and shout “skittle”. They started doing a few years ago and it stuck! Enjoyed the vlog! Safe travels!
I literally went to Sugar Creek gem mining and Wilderness run about a week ago for my birthday! I wish the timing were different. I would’ve loved to meet y’all! ♥️
“That looks just like a bear. Turns out it was a bear” gonna miss these top notch quotes from Isaiah
Love Ms. Cilla's reaction to the deers!! She would love where we live! They are in our yard eating off and under the apple trees every morning!!
The best one liners from that kid!!
He started a channel!!! Alllll the Isaiah quotes
Emma Rayne I know!!! It’s crazy. Have you watched them stream he has great one liners on there it’s hilarious.
Juletta Thiessen yes!! I love the live streams. Totally feels your hanging out with them 😄 I’m in college and SO wish I went to Isaiahs school 🤣 not to be creepy lol..I just think being his friend would be full of fun !!!
I’m so freaking proud of Abbie wearing her mask! Most typical ADULTS act like it’s torture 😂 Go Abbie 🙌🏻
She has been progressing greatly with wearing the mask. Great on her ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
jazmin vanderhorst I know! It makes me so proud 💜
She has extreme progress with the mask I am super proud of her
@@Canirapeyouanally I believe every one should need a mask
Jay Cutler usually it’s only exempt for 5 and under, so someone not knowing that Abbie is autistic would expect her to be wearing one
Cilla saying “you scared them” reminds me of the vine where the guy sneezes and the lady yells at him for scaring the deer 😂 “RON” “what I’m not allowed to sneeze??”
I remember that!
😂😂
I was thinking the exact same thing!
I love watching your family videos
In England most people move to different parts of the country to go to uni but you share like a flat/house so you have your own bedroom and bathroom but share kitchen and living room
Gizzy's Travels I have never heard of student dorms in the UK, I’m so intrigued.
My brother was in student dorms at Birmingham Uni for his first year then moved to a student rented house with his mates for the next 2-3 years.
@@LoveKillsSlowlyMP Agreed, I lived in a flat on campus for my first year with 17 other people but it wasn't a 'dorm' as we all had our own bedrooms
McKayla P it tends to be called Student Halls instead of Dorms.
@@anamckennaochoa2299 Oh right, so not dorms as in Dormitories then? She's not sharing a room with someone?
So excited for Isaiah. I left my home to go to college in a different state. Didn’t know anyone. He will meet so many people so quickly, y’all have nothing to worry about. Enjoy every minute of it!!

Oh lord Isaiah please be careful don’t get eaten by a bear 🤣

I moved to Ireland from Germany for College - I'm home for Christmas and Summer but I'm not planning to move back home after I'm finished - it was though in the beginning but it's the best thing ever now :) Home is always there but I like my independence as well. Have fun at college Isaiah!
I know I'm late to this. But your excitement seeing the deer was so cute. I'm so excited for you guys to come up to Banff one day. You'll love it!
Isaiah is the cutest and one of the funniest young men! He will go far on just his personality not too mentioned everything else he has going! ❤💛❤💛❤💛❤💛
Enjoy Isiah...these are gonna be some great times for you with many memory making moments...💖
Me when I see a deer while driving: “DONT JUMP IN FRONT OF MY CAR FRIENDS” Y’all: “awww lets take pictures”
Whatsername97 I would definitely take a picture if I saw a deer driving😂😂😂😂😂 I know what you mean, just having a little fun😁
M Slix lol! I didn’t even notice that
Yea, they spook easily and will jump in front of your car. When I first learned to drive I hit a fawn.
Neil K Walk oh no 😢 that’s my biggest fear. They come out of nowhere sometimes
Same here!!
Glad you liked your roommate and fam going to miss you Isaiah 😢😢😢we are getting closer to seeing you go spread your wings and fly the nest
Your convo about choosing roommates were hilarious! I worked in Residence Life and it is a long process to do room and roommate selection.
Highly recommend van life! We bought an old school bus that we are converting into a "RV". Its super fun!
Welcome to the beautiful mountains! I can’t imagine living anywhere without them.
I live in Phoenix....no deer in my yard. I would probably sit there and take 100 pictures if I saw one LOL
I’m so glad Isaiah and his roommate got along well! And I loved how smiley Ab was today ❤️
This is possibly my favorite vlog ever. Happy to see y’all happy 💕
My best friends (I'm 55) are still my former college roommates and friends from then. You will cherish them.
Idk what it is but Cilla talks to Abbie in a different ( sweeter) voice. It's consistant too. I know she loves her children but moms daughters are always a special place.
Love western North Carolina in every season~so beautiful. Maybe Isaiah will snowboard in the winter❄️💕
Pretty sure Abbie was laughing at her mom while looking at the deer. " "Oh my goodness, ya'll are so pretty"!! Multiple times
yes! That's exactly i thought she had that look on her face like MOM you're so funny getting excited over these deer so cute!
Abbie looks so relaxed & is really doing so well.
Awesome keeping her mask on...👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
In the UK, you are in what is called halls for the 1st year but you have your own room, sometimes your own bathroom but you share a kitchen and living area.
This vlog made me smile and laugh so much. You guys are such a great family!!
What a fun filled day. Boone looks beautiful. Abbie seems to be coping well.
I live about 30 to 40 minutes away from Boone and I’m honestly fan girling right now!
I have one more year until my oldest does college and I can't take it your blogs make me cry
Man, I don’t even know exactly where you guys are in the USA but all the buildings loom so pretty! He’s lucky to be going to College there.
Glad your roommate seems nice. My first year roommate wasn’t great, but you find a way make it work. I hope you enjoy first year Isaiah!!
I cannot imagine how my first roommate’s parents would have responded if my parents had been like ”we’re TH-camrs.” Then again it was 2010 and I was in Montana 😂. I so wish I could have been there to witness that.
I know people have said it already but Abbie is doing so awesome with her mask on!!
Love! Love!!
If you moved 8 hours away for university in the UK you would be in a different country 😂
@@Rippenhengst some families are closer than others I guess
Steph Starrett exactly. My family didn’t miss me at all. I wish I had been this close with my parents
I live in Australia and moved a 42hr drive away for uni 😂
Just out of curiosity How did the roommate and his parents react to Abbie?
