Toy Trains & Collectibles, Dale’s Train Station, and sometimes Train Depot (which is nearby Toy Trains & Collectibles) were always my go to train stores. Not to mention my favorites
I was in Virginia Beach this past October visiting family and actually had those three stores in mind. Dale's was on the top of my list being so close to Norfolk Airport...the other two were a bit out of the area. Due to time commitments I never saw any of them. Thanks to you I got a good look at them all. Next time I'll pitch in for gas. 😆 Thanks Dave ! 👍
Thanks for bringing us along on that whirlwind trip Dave! I know Tiny Tim's and the folks there quite well and I'm more than sure they made you most welcome! It's a special place!
Probably one of the best hobby shop Tours I’ve seen on TH-cam. I had my screenshot ready to take a picture of anything I wanted. Very fun. Thanks for sharing.
I find it interesting that the prices of postwar trains have gone down over the past couple of years. Both stores look to have a lot of great stuff to offer. It always makes me excited to see an original Lionel postwar dealer display up for sale.
I feel like prices for common pieces is low but some more collectible pieces is still quite high. Either way there is plenty of affordable stuff out there.
I like The fact your hobby shop tours you show the prices too in the picture the other guys fly through with a video and can't see the prices so thanx awesome videos
A really interesting snapshot of how things are in the model train world, $160 for a modern boxcar V $75 for an MPC era GEEP, all the inspirational and affordable models were older.
I would like to congratulate you on your really great video. I was AV director for a school system in Nj before retiring the Pa. I filmed football games over the years and did many videos for the school covering numerous events. And you have a great method of filming compared to the many amateurs who make You Tube videos. You move slowly so we can read and see what your are showing. Again I want to thank you for the many really great vdeos you have made, Wa to go. RJS.
Hello Dave, I have a couple of the RMT ore cars and your video promted me to check them out. Had the same problem with the trucks. I reached out to RMT and as you said, they replied quickly and assured the problem is being solved with new trucks. I always check out and run my new engines, but my freight cars sit in boxes till I get a running layout. I guess I should unbox everything and test it. I have all my track down, just have to wire it and hook up the control systems. As always Dave, I enjoy the content and hearing your views. Maybe I'll see you at the Spring Thaw in Allentown.
Interesting. Glad rmt responded. Hopefully the trucks won’t take too long. I always say every purchase should come out and be tested, even if it’s going to go back in a box for a long time. Track down, that’s a good step. Connect a lock on and test it out until you get it wired. In the beginning I had wire running all over to different lock ons so I could at least run something. It’s a good motivator!
It was a great trip and these places are easy to stop at, so close to the highway. I did not buy another 2454 but I always have to look at them just in case it’s nice and cheap!
I visited Just Trains once on my way back from Baltimore. They have a lot of stuff. The Legacy NP GP-9 Freight set for $495 seems like fair price for a new Legacy set, even if from 2010. Someone is selling a used one on eBay that isn't fully functional for more then that.
Four great stores, Dave... real budget busting fun! Thanks for the detailed videoing of the selection!
Glad you liked it T4 I had such a great time creating it
Ashland is a great place. Tiny Tim’s is just a fun place with the nicest people.
Agree!
Thanks for sharing 🚂😎👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Wow that Dales train station back room had some great antiques what a fun day thanks for sharing
I could spend hours back in that room alone with all those goodies
Cool stores.
Definitely

All great stores. I didn’t have time to swing by Train Depot, hopefully next time I will.
Looks like you had a fun road trip. Living the train life Dave!
Turned my 7 hour drive into a 13 hour drive but the pit stops were totally worth it!
So much fun walking into a new train store for the first time . Thanks for sharing .
It’s a great feeling indeed

Oh no, Dales is so close to VA Beach. Sorry you missed it.
Enjoyed the vintage tin.
Some really cool pieces

900 miles and a whole lot of trains! Tiny Tim’s is a great place. Hope I can get back there before too long!
Those east coast hobby shops got alot postwar trains. Lovin it maybe one day 🤔
Some of them. The ones that do usually have some great stuff.

Awesome! Thanks so much. Did you see anything you might buy?
@@dagryffynhobby no I didn’t. But I felt like the opportunity was there. So nice to know store name , see the product, and see the price.

Nice tour ! Hope you bought that Reading caboose you were holding. Would look great at the end of your coal train 👍
Thanks. I didn’t and I’m kinda angry about it! Maybe I should go back…

Thanks! I do try to get the prices in the pics when I can. It’s always good to know what things are going for.
It was nice to see you at my favorite trzin store, Toy Trains and Collectibles. I enjoy your videos. Hope to see you agsin.
Nice seeing you there too. It’s a great store. On my list to visit again for sure
They look like awesome stores ! Thanks !
They are great. Each one.

The $160 boxcar should be the hobo car with sounds. Not that makes it affordable!
Won't be surprised if one of the items you purchased at Dale's was a Baby Ruth boxcar. 😀
I wouldn’t be surprised either, but I passed on a 2454.
I have seen Just Trains at the Edison train show and they are by far the best go-to place to meet with them and buy from them.
Now that I’ve been there I remember seeing their sign at shows. I’ll have to make more of an effort to see their stuff
@@dagryffynhobby u should, they do make great deals for a train u want to getm i got 2 trains for 600 when they retail more than that

Thank you so much. I really do try to make the videos watchable so I really appreciate the feedback. Thanks so much for watching.
Outstanding!!!👍👍👍
Thank you!
Tiny Tim’s is right by my house. Like an hour away Dave.
Same here, I'm about a half-hour away, maybe 45 minutes tops.
You are both lucky on that. Wish I could get there more often or at least for longer than an hour or so as a rest stop on a long trip

Hey Dave, those stores look great, next time I head south on 95 I will check them out. Did you buy another 2454? LOL.

It’s really a great place. I’ll be going back for sure
Cause if I like the price then I know it's worth my time and the store owners time to call about the product
If this is all O, you should let people know
Everything I do is O. But I hear you, on a video like this I could indicate that focus. Thanks for the feedback
