I got better as this exercise went on. But I can't hear the notes in a triad. My piano teacher says I need to work on this, and your videos show me the way. Merci beaucoup.
Try to pick out the tonic, or the one of the first chord. If it stays in place, it's I-IV-I. If it dips down a little and goes back up again, then it's I-V-I. It's really all a matter of picking out do-ti-do (I-V-I) vs. do-do-do (I-IV-I)

If you hear a common tone between the chords, it's I-IV-I.
Awesome strategy!!
