Roy has the T.Surin/Seline passive, where damage is capped. Don't sleep on lifesteal set Roy, friends.

Completely sleep on Lifesteal Roy. Tempest Surin gets stealth, push & cleanse when she’s hit - meaning she can take a turn to heal up. Spirit Eye has a counterattack with an in-built Lifesteal & immortality.
Roy has the “can’t take more than 51% of his health in one attack” part - sure - but instead of having something that helps him survive after taking one hit, he’s got an in-built downside, where he gets fucked up by Ice units. He’s a shit version of Tempest Surin & she’s not even meta-relevant anymore.
He was just debut cursed, after that he did really good

I wouldn't say that General Roy Mustang is an OP character in the original anime. He was a fierce protector of his squadron and his countrymen. Unlike Edward, he cannot perform alchemy without a sigil so his gloves are his main weaknesses and trump cards. Without them, he's just another state alchemist. His physical attributes are pretty average for a soldier. You just can't compete with fire/explosion type alchemists because oxygen is so readily available. I'm sad they didn't want to include Izumi or any of the Armstrong siblings. They fought Sloth barehanded, Sloth being the fastest and physically strongest of the Sins.
Couldn't have said it better myself, hopefully that flame alchemy gets passed down instead of destroyed like Riza wants it to.
