Oh my goodness. I had to keep closing my mouth as this video progressed and this drawing came to life. Just in awe of your skills in moving this from simple black and white to stunning! I learned SO much and I appreciate you speaking thru your thoughts and plans as you went.

Absolutely beautiful! I just bought that book and the "Birds in the Forest"---I love her whimsical sense of humor! (Colored a page in the latter book--a gnome and some disgruntled ducks, sitting together on a mattress!!) I, too, am having problems with that Artistro White Pen---had to shake it so hard that it splattered me and my set of markers!! I now prefer the Posca. I think that Sarah has a 'better relationship' than I do with Artistro! LOL! Anyway, wonderful and instructive video--I learned a lot! Thanks! Lynn in NYC

Wonderful technique! I did not know you could use colored pencils on top of oil pastels! Loved the explanation in the beginning too!

I just got the mermaids in paradise book and fairies in dreamland is on its way, I ordered a slightly used copy so it’s going to take a little longer than normal but I’m really excited to try this, it’ll be helpful for both books. Thank you so much for sharing your inspiration and how you did this page, it’s super helpful!

I’m a new subscriber and the first video of this type that I have watched….your page turned out fabulous! I’ve never considered oil pastels before, but it definitely gives a “painterly effect”. I also enjoyed your insights considering the book and it’s designs - thanks for providing food for thought 👍

Very Nice. Maybe you could stick a moon at the top of the page. It looks a little bare, but very beautiful. 😀

Did u prime the page first with gesso or a medium before putting down the oil pastel?

I did not prime the page first. This paper is really nice. I do spray with a fixative after.
