Tim a note that we have always done from day dot on the farm is leave the trailer if you can for a couple of days before you want to move the pigs with the trailer let them get use to it with a sprinkle of straw on the bottom and it makes it so much easier just be nice and calm around them and we’ve had no issues at all!
Yeah we always do that with them before any leave for the abattoir. 👍 Unfortunately it was crazy wet the few days before so would have been a right mess getting in and out.(plus trailer was full of furniture!) 😬
It is the grain in the chicken feed that swells up and blocks their digestive system. A small amount should be all right but keep an eye out for them for a couple of days. Hope this helps. 😊🐑
With all your undercover spaces is there somewhere you could park the truck that would shield it from frost outside or protect it inside? It's so time-consuming to clear ice every day. Simple car covers are really cheap.
Do you not think there is now an argument, at least in the short term during the Big Build, to reduce the variety of livestock you have on the farm? Your time is going to be limited, and having to feed and care for sheep, pigs, chickens, goats , etc. may not be the best use of your time, without knowing the economics/viability of each.

Do the pigs and sheep realise that you are trying to build a house when they are giving you the runaround? 😂
Nope 😂
might be naive to ask, but have the pigs turned all that soil over?? or did you turn it over before with tractor etc?
All pigs so far, the contractor will come and prep it properly for the new seed in April but they made a good start!
Wow! As a city boy i knew pigs furrowed for things but didn't know they could practically plough a field!!
