Even after 40 Years Rafi is unsurpassable. No matter who sings with Rafi Sahab but another can't surpass Rafi Sahab. Although lataji singing is equally commendable but still I felt Rafi sahab plotted as titlist.

This song has a very very special place in the history of Hindi film music and in the life of Lata herself, and her sister Asha. This is the ONLY song in the entire combined careers of the two sisters in which Lata comes very close to sounding like Asha. In the Aalaap part of the song that restarts after the long pause @4:07, her voice makes even a proud connoisseur like me pause and think, is this Asha? That characteristically pleasant "Mangeshkar Gharana" voice is evident here very prominently. The reverse has happened many times. Asha coming very close to Lata has happened multiple times. Very rarely a romantic duet in Hindi film music has come close to this masterpiece! I can, in fact, think of only two other songs that come close - one is Asha's Abhi Na Jao Chhodke with Rafi (Film: Hum Dono), and Lata's Phir Chhidi Raat with Talat Aziz (Film: Bazaar)
