The flower is called Lupine and is an invasive species in Sweden. Loved the video, welcome to Sweden!
Its the same here in Finland. You're not allowed to have them in your garden anymore. It's annoying that it is invasive, because I love them 😅
Lupine flowers are invasive but can have a net positive effect on the land that they grow on. They can fertilise ground in areas where life is sparse.
@@yanapetiet4581 lol! they made it law so you cannot sow them? in Quebec they grow alot and people love them because the flower last a long time.
@@Francois_Dupont I'm not sure how much into law it is, also if it is, no one is enforcing it, we don't have "garden police" 🤪. But people have told me that you're not allowed to have them in your garden. I understand why people love them, and yes they are indigenous to Canada/America, so that makes sense. But here they can cover such big area's, that there is no space for native species, so there is a risk
@@Francois_Dupontyes same law here in sweden, they take over and actually kill of alot of our normal species of plants. Its a huge eco problem here
I was born in Sweden and I don't think I'll ever get tired of our red houses with white detials.
as a swedish dude. sweden have the nature of godlike stunningness. every time im out in the wilderness. i never get tired of it.
As a fellow Swede, Imma have to agree
@@bisratezra8247 Have you been bitten by a snake or walked into a bear yet? because that aint fun
@@phillatt6277That rarely happens.
@@donteattidepods for sure, but i walked enough in these forests to have had quite a few close calls
Need to take that chance and ask you 😅: What month would you advice to me for visiting sweden? And which city to start with?
I live near the bavarian alps, beautiful landscape and mountains, but I would be so interested in exploring other countries natures 😊
I grew up in the north of Sweden (outside Umeå) and half the things you do in this video I have done hundreds of times and certainly take for granted.
It’s great to see a fresh mindset to everything, this video certainly had me appreciating my hometown and the surrounding areas a lot more than usual!
yeah, i live nort of you, but i agree, we take it for granted and fail to appreciate it
bruh north of sweden aint Umeå, North of sweden is Luleå to Kiruna/riksgränsen
we in kiruna make fun of people living in umeå because you guys are so damn urban like the rest of sweden while we eat raw smoked reindeermeat and camp with tents in -30-40 on a regular basis if you like the nature
@@WeDo1last time I visited Kiruna it was pretty urbanized, about as many pride flags as Stockholm aswell 🤮.
@@WeDo1Kiruna is probably the most depressing city in Sweden. Feels like driving into mordor with all the mining
Its amazing how much Lapland looks like northern Minnesota. Moose, perch, blueberries...even the architecture. So interesting.
and the mosquitoes 😵
Many Swedes emigrated to northern Northern America - very similar flora & fauna to Scandinavia
Well, there’s a reason so many Scandinavians chose to settle in Minnesota. They felt at home there. And the architecture is similar because so many of the settlers in Minnesota were Scandinavian. I mean, even the Minnesota dialect sounds a lot like a Swede speaking English…
America is very beautiful and diverse. I'd like to travel across America sometime. And yeah some places look very similar to Sweden.
America does have some amazing diversity in landscape. Mountains, northern forest, desert, coastline and huge lakes. Everything except rainforest. You would be most welcome!
Absolutely beautiful, honestly felt like I was watching something on the Discovery channel. You're editing skills are superb and your calm and kind voice is pleasant to listen too. Well done, Well done!
Thanks! :)
Never had much interest in visiting Sweden. But this video has made me realise how beautiful, wild and rugged it is. Definitely added to my bucket list!
Make sure to go to northern Sweden, south sweden is just like any other nordic country.
@@bluebird6829 makes total sense. I'm from central Scotland so it sounds very much the same!
Up North in Sweden, we're more laidback ;) Hope to see you around
South sweden/the coasts, is where civilization is in Sweden. The further north you go, the more "Just forests, lakes and rivers" it is. So yeah, if you want to see miles and miles of just wilderness you have to go further north in sweden.
@@noobkaka567north and inland coastal citys like Luleå and Umeå are not far of southern sweden but Härjedalen and up north is the true rural sweden.
9:15 the tent you went into is a Sami yurt tent. The Sami is an indigenous people who live in the north of Sweden (and parts of Norway and Finland). They have some big stretches of land and have an exclusive right to own reindeer since it is a part of their traditional culture. Some people get mad at this for all kinds of reasons but I think it is a good thing to preserve the Sami culture as much as possible.
This was amazing, Alex. As someone who spends a lot of free time traveling Sweden, you captured the essence of Swedish beauty so well. I hope you had an amazing time!
Does anyone else purposely watch the ads for TH-camrs you think deserve it. Great work Alex.
So kind ❤️
Being a premium user gives the creator more money, I heard, and I don't have to watch ads too, so that's a win-win for me.
I grew up on the west cost of Sweden near Gothenburg. When I graduated high school I decided I wanted to move up north so I began studying engineering in Luleå where you landed :). I've been living here for over three years now and I absolutely love it. So glad you decided to visit, hope to see you again here sometime.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful gem with us buddy, gotta love sweden 🥰
As a Stockholmer I really need to visit the north more often. Only travelled as far north as Jämtland so far, but there is so much more beauty to explore even further.
Och som norrlänning som har varit i runt i hela sverige kan jag inte annat än rekommendera. Det är nästan ett helt annat land här uppe :)
I find this simpler life so attractive. A red house with a land with woods somewhere in Norway/Sweden would be magic.
It's not quite so much fun in the Winter - unless you are accustomed to it.
@@saltburner2 Yeah, depends on the person to be honest, me personally I'd just read books and learn, do tedious tasks etc the winter is like a reset season where one can catch up and do things they otherwise couldn't.
Swedish Lapland - Good and healthy life for body, soul and mind 🤓
@@Anonymoose66G you still gotta work dude. Imagine getting out of bed, to be greeted with so much snow it's above your door. You gotta spend the whole morning shoveling your way out of your house, to your car, that will be frozen, so you gotta bring an extention cord and a hair fan and melt the ice on the door handle, all the while your boss is getting mad you're late as fuck and you're so stressed you dont even have time to check ur phone to tell him ur late, forgot to mention it's -20 degrees (celcius) and it's so damn cold you can feel it through your bones.
This is just one bad morning out of a full on year of harsh, harsh harsh winter weather. If you work outside, it will be even worse. Then the darkness is the aspect noone understands who doesnt live here. 7 months of a darkness and lack of light that barely can be understood by outsiders, will leave you feelnig depressed and empty alot of those days.
It's something you never get used to, but every swede has the kinda "here we go again 😩" and get's a bunch of PTSD flashbacks from childhood leaving home for school in complete darkness and when returning, also in complete darkness. lmao.
Maybe I'm exaggereating abit here but after 7 months of this you just won't feel good. trust me bro.
@@siegpasta Yeah i couldnt live up there full time. It would be awsome to have a summer house somewhere up in the north, but in the winters i want none of it haha. It's bad enough where i live in Västerås. just like 5 hours of sun a day when you are at work and very cold mornings and last winter was schizofrenic. It cold be sunny for 1 week and be around 10+ and next week 0 sun and -15 and it went on like that for majority of the winter. Normally it's just cold and dark..
I have an old Volvo like Rolan, and about 8 months ago, I totaled her. I have spent every moment since working on her, and it has shown me just how beautiful those cars are, both externally and internally.
Beautiful product of Sweden
Sweden is soo beautiful
Sure is
Not far from where I grew up. As I get older I realise what a great childhood I had, with all the nature just outside the door.
That place looks incredible. Looks like a holiday id enjoy
Your channel is wonderful, Alex. The subject-matter, as well as the videography, is so nice! I feel like I’m on one of these adventures, along with you. Many thanks!
I got so emotional from this video. I am a swede myself and grew up on the west coast of Sweden. I love going to northern Sweden to relax and live a more primitive life, but I haven't been able to in the last couple of years so this brought me back. Great video Alex!
You sound like a Southerner.
Lucky enough to call myself Swedish and spending a lot of time in these woodlands. Inside the arctic circle in mid July is the most magical experience, and I get to live it for 10 days each summer. Makes the winters worth it.
You did however arrive in an unusually rainy summer...
Bonus fun fact: 17% of Swedens surface is believed to be covered by blueberry bushes.
WOW! Incredible shots and great capturing of emotion through the music love it! ❤
Its been great watching you visit my homecountry, glad you liked it
Definetly one of the best reviews of the type of experiences of the real northern Sweden. Most foreigners that come only go about halfway up and call that northern Sweden, but you went almost all the way north. You should come back in winter for snowmobile and ice fishing.
The red paint is called falu rödfärg and is as you say a by-product from copper mining. It was originally made in Falun where Sweden has had a massive copper mine since about 250 years back.
Copper has been mined since 800 century in Falun and ended 1992. First written document is from 1288.
way more than 250 years....
They still take the pigment from the mine. The falu rödfärg factory is like 100 meters from the mine entrance.
For a person that grew up in lapland, there is so much beauty I take for granted that a lot of people rarely if ever gets to experience. It is a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend visiting the mountains both at summer for the hiking experience and winters for the snowmobile!

what an absolutely stunning Video Alex. Thank you so much letting us been part of it . lot's of love from Scotland 🏴🤙
Cool. I live in Sweden, and have never been there. And regarding blueberries, they are all over Sweden, and I read somewhere that only 5 % of the 250 000 ton of blueberries growing in Swedish forrests are picked every year, so there's alot of improvement possible to that.
There is a swedish song that is called : du ska inte sova bort sommarnatten which litterally means you shouldn't speep away the summer night. And it continues with instead you should be walking under the leafy birchtrees with me holding hands. And as songs goes its one of my favourite songs we learnt in school.
Its ALWAYS , the people that makes a place or moment memorable
🤗
I also believe that their blueberries can be found in upland UK also. I think they are 'blaeberries' (scottish) or whimberry / whinberry (welsh / north england). We have a glut in late July, early August in south Wales. Grow in similar places - non deeply vegitated banks / close too heather sometimes. Much darker than shop 'blueberries'. Crumble them / eat them with venison / make a wine out of them seems to be most popular thing to do!
That was a coincidence. I just drove through Lapland from Narvik to get back to Norway again. A two day drive in the rain. Was a very bleak experience. Felt almost dystopian, driving through all the small towns and villages, with boarded up houses and businesses 😢 🌧
Great to see that you have been on another adventure! 😊
Love so much from sweden!! 🇸🇪❤️🇬🇧
Im happy u came to my country!!
Thank you for taking us along. Just beautifully done! All the food, the saunas, the warm people and the beautiful Mother Nature, makes this my dream trip.
Your'e welcome ;)
Great video, Sweden is on my list to visit and explore. Looks so beautiful and peaceful. Keep the videos coming…what about Finland or Iceland next 🤷🏼♂️😊
From watching you with your brother fishing in the early days of Carl and Alex, and watching you now is amazing. Your videos are amazing and beautiful to watch. You are so inspirational and a joy to watch. Thankyou. Amazing work 👏 🙌
Now this was absolutely gorgeous. Your so humble. I enjoyed every moment caught on your videos. Meeting and enjoying the first days their with the local people and enjoying food Light even thou it being late in the night Did it keep you off guard or did you have a alarm to keep pace of your day. That was so much fun. Especially watching the wild life their, and also staying with a professional fisherman and learning how to perserve fish. Sweden so beautiful. Thank you . Cheers
Thank you for this beautiful video, makes
Me miss home
So
Much more . My husband thought that sauna and beer and the wilderness were the most relaxing aspects of our trip back in 2018 when I first too him to my home country (Estonia) .
Simple relaxing life I need this so much

Great video Alex! ❤ Thanks for sharing.
Hear me out… I see the future… a little restaurant where you grow what you can, source quality foods you can’t grow and serve dishes you’ve picked up from around Europe with that laid back Swedish atmosphere
Wow what beautiful scenery.

Thanks for your sharing Alex, I am learning English with your video, wonderful!
The flowers are lupin we have heaps in NZ.
What an absolute STELLAR Video. You have such an adventurist soul!
Everyone in my family watched it on the Big Screen which made you life size basically. Everyone here were fixed to the screen, all 35 minutes. We can't figure out how you stumble on such great places to venture to.
[1] The Lupines were so gorgeous in the field. I would have loved to have had some of those Swedish variety of seeds.
[2] Good to see you driving on the Left side of the vehicle, which of course is the Right side (correct side). lol
[3] PIA and Henry's Cabin was so fantastic. So many family members or friends could fit in there. What a great adventure place. We bookmarked it and it's on the option list for family getaways.
[4] I think I mentioned this before, but I grow Organic Barley, Hops, Rye, and Malt for Micro-Breweries. In exchange for reasonable prices, they bring various kinds of beers and other alcohols as gifts for the quality of my grains. it's really nice of them to share with us.
[5] Good thing you didn't approach the Moose,, they are very aggressive. My older brother got chased by one and he barely got away from it, by jumping a fence.
THANK YOU again for such an Inspirational, and very adventurous video.
We all, in our family, can't wait for your next videos.
Glad to see you enjoyed the stay in our beautiful country, im born and raised in Northen Sweden and still living there! 🎉 🇸🇪

Wow! Ive been watching your videos for some time and Its nice that you came and visited Sweden, or more importantly, Norrland! :D
Im born and raised here and I will never leave.
I love watching your videos cause it seems like your living life the way you want and enjoying ever last bit. It’s truly inspiring :D
This video is great! I can’t wait to grow up and explore the lands of my home country, Sweden.
Amazing video. Some of the best and most relaxing holidays I've had were in Finnish Lapland.
It kinda looked like you climbed Luppioberget, wich feels crazy as if you did you were litteraly vacationing at my childhood home. Luppio is right next to Liehittäjä and ive climbed that mountain so many times. Övertorneo is an amazing place
I also went to Luppioberget a lot when I was visiting my grandparents in Övertorneå as a kid. Or we went to Avasaksa on the finnish side. Great views of the river valley from both sides! :)
@Keiseru Nowadays, I actually prefer Aavasaksanvaara after they built all those cabins on top of Luppio. It felt so different and exploited than when I was younger.
Your life is so amazing!! I found myself wishing I was with you on these adventures! Thank you so so much for sharing with us 😊
