It's my prayer that KRA to intergrate with banks and ministry of land.
Why do I say this. I know of a person, who is in real estate. Now it's 5yrs down the line,he has not received his money.
Where is the loop hole KRA and the banks. KCB and the lawyer played poker game with their money, the first 3yrs. They he'd to go to court for intervention. It was painful period to get their money.
Finally after the owner who was selling the land, received the money to his account, another drama started. For him to access the money he has to get clearance from KRA. It took him more than a month to access his, money so that he can pay this person who is in real estate.
This was last year March. His money was paid to his account in Co-op bank, that is where he has seen all the colours in this world. Excuse after excuse. The bank was using kra as an excuse. They even he'd to involve KBA. But where they don't respect the organisation. They he'd to go back in court again. It intervened the money was transferred to KCB under the supervision of the court. But still they can't access his money, why ? KRA has to give access payment link. ,It has now a month for KRA to give out that link. KRA IT department doing delay tactics with the file excuse the system is down. form there to audit department.from there,to commissioner, from there to the DG to give a go ahead. Why can't KRA just automate their system surely. Yet we expect to have a GDP of 28%? How if business people money is held in banks because of kra and banks playing with clients money? May God help us. We don't find ourselves, running our businesses like Somaliland. Where they have no banks but operate by the roadside.

it is easier to generate revenue by building industries and creating jobs rather than taxing poor people. If you really want to go the tax way, target the rich families who have siphoned money from Kenya since independence like the Moi and Kenyatta families. For ordinary Kenyans, get them jobs they've paid their fair share and you can't bilk any more taxes from them. At the end of the day, cartels you fighting today are deep rooted and unless you frogmarch people onto a public square for execution, stopping cartels at kra and virtually everywhere else in Kenya is a pipe dream.
