I got chills when Nick Diaz walked out to this song. This walkout was different. It was like a last stand. An old warrior coming out for the last time to participate in War. Nick Diaz will always be my favorite MMA Fighter, seeing him lose was heartbreaking but I know he has been in enough wars to be a certified LEGEND of the sport of MMA. The General of the Army, Nick Diaz. I'm a soldier for life.
This was a pointless last stand for a warrior. He was in terrible shape, mentally and physically. He basically said “fuck it I’ll take some money, screw the fans, screw the fighting.” Pretty sad dude

@@georgeoskorakianitis2830 Pink Cellphone is quite consistent with SNW's overall mood and flow and far more tasteful, more organic than its WP equivalent Teenager. If we're talking disappointments I'd say roughly two thirds of White Pony and Diamond Eyes. Those records had the highest highs but also the most uninspired, cheapest lower tier songs in all of their discography. Oh and honorable mention for This Link Is Dead too - worst lyrics in a Deftones song, ever. This Link Is Dead single-handedly pushes Ohms lower than Gore in my personal chart.

However Opeth will never come in the same ballpark (not even 10%) as Deftones' album sales despite being musically in a league of their own. Deftones is one of the most succesful bands of the past 20 years, certainly not underrated. And RATM/Tool hardly sold more albums than Deftones, while SOAD sold as much as the three other bands combined.

i feel like the meaning behind this is that you find something that you want to see is true or not. go thru all these doors questioning yourself, while others question why you are looking for an answer, when you already know how it’ll end. her giving them objects at every door might mean that she’s giving them hints to what she’s looking for. when she finally gets to the last door a guy passes her and is seen wounded. now she knows how the answer to her question will end, but she still wants to know despite her getting hurt in the end.

I've been having a shittacular week and suddenly Deftones release a music video for one of the best songs on Ohms. Life truely is worth living.
The Mascara shot and the Mustang "White Pony" at the very beginning is such a badass way to set up SO MANY DEFTONES easter eggs throughout this video - so in love with it!!

I've noticed a lot of Deftones music (or at least how I interpret it) has to do with the pitfalls of vanity, narcissism, and misplaced value in trivial traits. Honestly, this music video cinches that theory.
A young woman moves through multiple bars, each more esoteric than the last (a metaphor for climbing social ladders through networking) but in doing so loses parts of herself (Trading with each band member parts of her soul: Admitting her persona is false, giving up something precious to her represented as a golden fly, permitting self harm.)
This culminates in her ultimate goal: reaching the "end", despite the songs warning before she even entered the first bar (How can't you see / This is the end?)
At the end, she meets the witch who whispers something into her ear, which represents introspection gained at the end of her journey. The truth about herself, and how the sacrifice of her soul was her downfall in the end.
Destroying who she was a person (On the outside, just skin and bones
/ Show me, what's left?) to climb an invisible social ladder (It's an illusion / It's all an illusion) to find some glimmer of validation at the end of it, only to be met with the harsh truth of her actions, causing her to run away. (So I'm leaving you tonight

@@kuasadunia notice how she is "initiated" into a VIP room where they have red drinks, having clothed sex, and acting real crazy. A lady she locks eyes with is wearing a checkerboard dress. If you into the mysteries of ancient occult societies, you'd easily catch these things. There's more to this video but that's all I caught. If you've heard of Pizza Gate, this could be a possible interpretation of the video. Especially since Chino has Baphomet on his arm and plenty of references to other mystic stuff.

I have been a fan since "Shut Up and Drive (Far Away)",and I still get the chills each and every time I listen to these guys.Amazing song here,as usual.
Great thing about music, it opens a whole world of theories, interpretations, feelings and relatability. So, one person can interpret the lyrics or images as one thing and another person thinks of something completely different. one thing is universal, though, Deftones are brilliant.
Love that Nick Diaz walked out to this song. Probably reflected how conflicted he was about fighting. Nick Diaz and Deftones are one of my favourite combinations

my favorite thing about deftones music is how they transition between different segments of their songs. some of their bridges sound like they could be a different song entirely but somehow they make it work.

This video edit is brilliant ... it is a linear movie story that flows and matches the song as if the song were a created movie soundtrack. This is a complex story, and this song makes a focused emotional compelling soundtrack that just exactly fits the emotional hooks necessary for the movie story ....

A band that will never let you down, deftones forever
Moral of the story: chasing status requires a lot of sacrifice and only brings you pain and regret. By casting themselves in the video, the band admits they've made that tradeoff to some extent themselves. The use of a POC actress/model is really excellent social commentary and shows a band whose lyrics are both timeless and yet specifically applicable to our current times.

This tune right here proved to me Sergio Vega is worthy of being the replacement for Chi. Not that he wasn't good on the previous albums but here the bass work really amazed me.
I'm 16 and I started listening to deftones I first heard their song change 2 years ago from an Instagram edit but never listened to anything else but I've fallen in love with their music its been getting me through everything right now
