Thank you so much! I was rushed to the emergency room because I was having chest pain and shortness of breath. They did all kinds of heart tests and said my heart was strong. thank God! Then they did an endoscopy and said that I have a hiatal hernia and just to take prilosec every morning. I was so glad I wasn't having a heart attack. Thank you for explaining all the symptoms of a hiatal hernia including heart attack symptoms. Good job! God bless you!

Hi Angela I'm glad to hear itnwasnt your heart. I have been experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain for six months and all my doctors said my heart and lungs are just fine and that is just anxiety. But I know it's something inside my body. I'm going to ask my doctor to do an endoscopy to see if I have a hernia.

I've experienced all these same symptoms on a daily basis for almost 2 years now (since having Covid) the heart palpitations are wicked. It's like I can't breathe for a split second. Every test I have done comes back normal. They told me it was solely anxiety. I went on a dozen different medications, began treating my anxiety, even changed careers to a much less stressful job and still experiencing the same symptoms every single day. This is horrible. It's so depressing.

I am where you was two years ago. If it was anxiety, the pain, lump feeling would be higher up in your throut. Like when one has just lost a loved one. I should tell you I have FMS. So the first thing the doctor has gone is tell me to eat small meals and drink the water later. Sometimes I can not drink. Water gets stuck. I have things for the acide and powder to thicken water, It's called 'Thick And Easy' .....

One treatment for a hernia is getting a neck adjustment. C3, C4, C5, keeps the diaphragm alive! The phrenic nerve controls the diaphragm and runs down C3, C4, and C5. An unadjusted neck can put pressure on the phrenic nerve causing the diaphragm to open and allow the stomach to slide up. Most likely the neck is subluxated and an adjustment and manual pulling down of the stomach will help. I know this works from personal experience. Not all chiropractors will know this for some reason.

I have not been able to exert myself much physically in the 12 years since my diagnosis. I get very short of breath, and sick to my stomach if I do anything high in exertion. I have not been able to run, or work out without getting sick. It causes a horrible pain in my abdomen, right where it seems the hernia would be. This was zero issue for me, before I felt a pain/tear in my abdomen Easter weekend 2010. My life has never been the same. Highly considering surgery at this point! No bro hitak hernia can't be cured with medication I have Hital hernia too and depending on your symtom and size of your hernia and type they will say try lifestyle modification and then taking ppis medication which I don't recommend for long term due the many side effects if the symtom can be controlled with diet and lifestyle change they will never suggest the surgery bcs of side effects and risks as well as the expertise of surgeon which are key I have also heard that the fundoplication which are the most effective surgery occur that after many years that the symtom recur i recommend you go for lifestyle and diet change and do not take ppis for over a year and instead occasionally or daily take antacids like gaviscon or famotidine which are safe but can be expensive
