Wonderfully put together Andrew: a pleasure to watch. I can remember from my childhood, growing up in Lancaster, many of the 'old' scenes on here. Even now, when I walk through the City, i'm always looking up at the History.
Love the photo of old Spring Garden Street. Family on my Dad's side lived on there from the 1860s.
I'll be coming back to this Video again and again. Many thanks to all involved inputting it together.

This is without doubt the best ˋthen and now´ on TH-cam or anywhere else. Brilliant! I have never lived in Lancaster but have ˋworked´ it, wearing a variety of hats since the 1960‘s and this was a trip down so many memory lanes. Can’t thank you enough.

Echoing all, this is just brilliant! Thank you, Andrew! Lancaster is my home, has been for thirty years and local history is absolutely fascinating - this video is both magic and a real way to anchor our souls in the place itself.

Thanks Bogdan, I produced this for an exhibition at the Maritime museum. I have since added to it and arranged it in area order. It is one of the talks I do for different organisations. As it has grown a lot larger I may split it in two before posting an updated version on here.

I've lived in Lancaster since I was born in 1962. I was born in the living room at 33 Primrose Street. We had an outdoor toilet.
In 1968, my family moved to a semi on Chequers Avenue, with a bathroom!
8:48 Since 2005, I've lived in a rat-infested nightmarish Jigsaw Homes slum on Fenton Street. My parents have both died, and have left me the family semi on Chequers Avenue, so I'll be moving back there, although Jigsaw Homes are currently trying to have me "committed to prison" for complaining about this slum!
2:26 My friend Christine lived in the smallest cottage in the row, at Golgotha Village. She died of a heart attack in 2009.
I remember when St. Nicholas Arcade was built circa 1969. Although, I don't remember St. Nicholas Street at all.

Thanks Lisa, I think our family has Scottish heritage but with a name like Reilly I'm sure there will be an Irish connection. If you are on Facebook I also run a group called Lancaster Past and Present with thousands of historical photos on it. This is the link -
