I was 19 in '97 and can say that the 80's were the time of high rise noisy athletic pants and the 90's were low rise. They wouldn't be so low that she couldn't wear them on TH-cam, but I think they might be hard to find now so maybe that's why they are high... Everything else on the video looked great and was a great homage the the late 90's. I was all about the minimalist look ha!

One thing I will say that was very different in the 90's was eyebrows. I'm lucky my eyebrows survived at all. Over plucking was very much in style. A "History of Eyebrows" video would be cool.
As a person who dresses almost entirely in 1940s and 50s clothing it's nice to see someone else appreciate the fashions of other eras and I really hope you continue this into a series ❤️
yellow submarine mostly all I can say that would be of immediate use is etsy is God sent especially since you can set your price limit cause real vintage and vintage reproduction can get extremely expensive 😬the rest is mostly thrifting and fake modern things to look vintage. I was 16 in 97 and you basically nailed it. Better than other people ive seen who try to mimic the styles from the decade. Also, the last dress was so spot on. You could also have have added a white baby tee under it and out on some docs and you would have hit the grunge look that I loved so much back then.

I remember the dragon print/Chinese symbol trend continuing into the very early 2000's. I was a freshman in high school in the 1999/2000 school year and it was still a thing then (at least in the area I lived in). I had several of those bead bracelets with the Chinese symbols on them too.

Lara, I giggled so hard at this! In '97 I was 12 and so DESPERATELY wanted everything from the Delia's catalog....I had the maxi cargo skirt, the corduroy pouch/jacket/pants, and to this day I still own my trenchcoat from back then! Love you!
I was 18 in 1997, it was a great time. I was a goth and I wore almost exclusively vintage dresses from the 20's up until the 70's and making plastic skirts and shirts. :) I STILL wear a lot of sheer dresses and plastic/vinyl etc..
They really dont. I dont see any of those butterfly clips around and tehy were HUGE. Butterflys, flowers, hearts...those chokers were EVERWHERE. Platform shoes were EVERYWHERE . Like she said, Chinese stuffs was everywhere. Not of these things are popular right now. You clearly have not lived through the 90's.

Except the shoes. Shoes in the 90s were SOOO comfortable. You could actually walk, work, dance in them - then wear them for your walk of shame home. Somehow the chunky heel and square toe have not really come back around again. granted - they're ugly as shit... but see above re: comfort.

You did really well, but one major issue: no one, and I mean NO ONE wore their pants that high. Hip-huggers! That's how the stomachs were so revealed: not from hiking up tops but from pulling down pants! The middle two outfits would have been far more authentic if you'd placed the waist lower. I think this year many people want to wear vintage fashion or wearing 90's fashion. I agree 90's fashion is great. Jennifer Anniston (Rachel Green) is also my inspiration for my clothes that I wear. Many people also use VHS, Vaporwave, Vintage Cam for their Instagram feed. I love how fashion repeats itself and many people especially in my generation they all seem to love everything about 90's.

In 97, I was 19 years old. I'm so impressed! You pretty much nailed it. My only small critique is that pants would never have been cinched at the ankle (like your cargo pants), but flared ankle might be hard to find today. I definitely had a backpack purse, butterfly clips and the same shoes as the last look. Great job!

So much nostalgia!! I was 13 in 1997 and I wore all of this stuff! The tattoo chokers are way in again. Remember the tear-away athletic pants?? Yeah, a kid's pants ripped right off during a game of mat ball at indoor recess in from of half the school. It was epic. We all LOST IT! And the pants were banned the next day. Why no crazy wide JNCOs????

That's how the stomachs were so revealed: not from hiking up tops but from pulling down pants! The middle two outfits would have been far more authentic if you'd placed the waist lower. I think this year many people want to wear vintage fashion or wearing 90's fashion. I agree 90's fashion is great. Jennifer Anniston (Rachel Green) is also my inspiration for my clothes that I wear. Many people also use VHS, Vaporwave, Vintage Cam for their Instagram feed. I love how fashion repeats itself and many people especially in my generation they all seem to love everything about 90's.

In 97, I was 19 years old. I'm so impressed! You pretty much nailed it. My only small critique is that pants would never have been cinched at the ankle (like your cargo pants), but flared ankle might be hard to find today. I definitely had a backpack purse, butterfly clips and the same shoes as the last look. Great job!
