"Fireheart first meets Scourge when hunting for herbs on the fringes of Twolegplace. When Scourge later falls ill, he remembers the strange forest cat who said he had herbs to cure sickness - so he has Fireheart taken to see him. Fireheart is at first unnerved by the small leader of BloodClan, but seeing him sick and pathetic makes his heart melt. The two strike up an unlikely friendship.
Later Fireheart would have to rely on that friendship, when he, Bluestar, and Ravensong flee ThunderClan and Tigerstar. Scourge grants them sanctuary in BloodClan. But being in close proximity to Scourge in his role as leader of BloodClan, reveals a side to his friend that Fireheart was not fully aware of... and one he cannot condone."
This is my secret santa gift for my dear friend Imber, who has helped me so much this year and been just an amazing friend :) I am absolutely in love with their Warriors AU "Fire Lilies", where Fireheart becomes a medicine cat, which I also did the animatic God Help the Outcasts for. This video takes place around the same time period (which is honestly a VERY small slice of the full story, I just happen to like that slice a lot lol.) I wanted to explore Fireheart and Scourge's friendship. They have a complicated relationship, as they stand at polar opposite ends of ideals, and yet see the other as their brother... Fireheart is Scourge's first glimpse into a life that ISN'T choked in blood and violence, and for the first time he starts to think things could be...different. Unfortunately he doesn't figure it out before he drives Fireheart away. (It's a vast simplification of how things ACTUALLY go down in the AU, but it makes for a good video.)
I had been replaying this song and imagining this animatic for weeks before I was assigned Imber as my Secret Santee, and I just HAD to take the opportunity to speedrun a holiday animatic heh! Imber I hope you like it!!

I think this is one of the best things I've seen lately in terms of characterization for Scourge because it remembers that Scourge has a dichotomy of both being cold and quick to punish with violence, but also someone who is genuinely loyal to those he views on his side and willing to be diplomatic. He's not some pure psychopathic killer, otherwise he would have killed his siblings rather than actually giving them food and letting them be on their way. We know that he did defend Bloodclan against attacks from other cats too. So seeing him here as someone who remembers debts owed to Fireheart and can be pleasant to someone on his side while also being exceedingly harsh with someone who crosses him, I think it perfectly sums up his characterization.

I love that last shot where Scourge is off-center on the fence. You'd expect him to be evenly in the middle for aesthetic purposes. And yet, the staging drives home the feeling that there's something missing. Someone was meant to be by his side, and the full-view makes it seem like the world is too big for him now. He's out of place, literally.
My gosh your storyboard skills are off the charts!! I LOOOVE the shape language of Fire being round and Scourge being sharp shapes of the designs used in this!! and the emotion!! you're SO good at storytelling

THIS IS SO AWESOME! Last Fire Lilies storyboard I was confused to how Scourge let the trio into BloodClan because it was so out of character, but this makes so much sense! I love the idea that Scourge just wants a friend and that he isn’t completely emotionless!
Just saying that it doesnt really matter if something is out of character in an au lol, thats the whole point of aus
@@actuallybingbing yeah I guess, but I much perfer aus that keep characters very similar to the original story because then it feels like it’s a part of the original story!
My heart cries seeing Scourge getting upset with Fireheart leaving, seeing that emotion on Scourge is so interesting!! Love the idea of the AU, and you do it such great justice with these animatics!
This is very well made! Especially how Scourge and Fireheart’s designs clash showing their differences. Poor Scourge though, he just found out it was wrong when it was too late.

Oh my gosh this is one of the best storyboards i’ve seen. i love the difference in the way Fireheart and Scourge look, scourge being sharp and Fireheart being more round snd plushie like almost. You can tell whats happening and its so sad yet almost beautiful. You are SO good at this!
I absolutely love the terrifying bloody murderous face changing to a warm smile. Love the shape differences between them and I assume Fireheart is a medicine cat in this? There are SO many ways their brotherly relationship could have been developed and I LOVE this

Scourge is just a traumatized kitten needing someone to see his struggle at heart, and I love au's like these that show that side.
I love this honestly, the shapes of their body makes such diference, Fire being rounder and Scourge with sharp edges, the emotion, everything. you never fail to tell the stories and etc.

Just noticed how Fireheart has a cute lil heart nose while Scourge has a slit in a vaguely similar shape (to convey its a nose) but its in no way heart shaped. Honestly the shape language here is insane and it lives rent free in my head. Congrats to the both of you for this accomplishment!

This AU is beautiful! I love how they’re friendship forms! It’s a very interesting and heartfelt AU! I also liked how you made Fireheart a medicine cat!
Idk if this is a design choice or something meant but I'm going to say it anyways: I love the way scourge doesn't have eyebrows. until like the very end when fireheart leaves. it shows how emotionless he is until his closest friend leaves him and I love it. fireheart and the others have eyebrows and it expresses them and shows the way they feel. whereas with scourge you don't have a clue sometimes because he looks so cold and expressionless. then at the end, he's hit with fireheart leaving him and he looks broken. so well done I love this
Good catch! Scourge not having eyebrows is an integral part of LenisLynx's design for him - it definitely makes him feel so much more enigmatic and emotionless. ^^
THAT SCOURGE GETS SOMEWHAT BETTER AND THEY MAKE UP ILL CRY OTHERWISE

Normally with AU storyboards and animations I struggle to understand what's going on a bit. Not here - everything was perfectly clear (and heartwarming AND heartbreaking). Not to mention how much I adore your character designs!!!! Skinny pointy Scourge and round friend-shaped Firestar are suuuuuch good contrasts I'm drooling

hey uh, can u explain some of the lore? please? i can tell fireheart is a medicine cat, and scourge, just want a bit more background, like do some characters die but others don't? just kinda confused (i'm watching this on loop, i like it)
@@alex_the_animator6033 the fanfic that this video is based on is currently being written by LenisLynx, so I dont have all the details. But the gist of it IS that Fireheart becomes a medicine cat instead of a warrior. The events in this video, are Fireheart befriending Scourge after helping him when he was sick (they first met when Fireheart went herb hunting in Twolegplace.) Later, Tigerstar becomes leader of ThunderClan after convincing the Clan that Bluestar was too old and needed to retire, which she was mad about. But then Tigerstar tried to manipulate Fireheart into poisoning Bluestar. This caused Fireheart, Bluestar and Ravensong (au Ravenpaw) to flee ThunderClan, and seek asylum in BloodClan. Its fine for awhile, but Scourge reveals his bloodthirsty dictator nature, and that combined with other events forces Fireheart to flee once more.
There's so much interesting stuff that happens in this AU that I only know little bits of, so I'm very excited for the fic to get written!
