      The players are good, they just need to get better at being aware like the 90's eagles, know what to do with the ball before the ball comes. Don't make too many mistakes and I am talking about people like omeruo and balogun.

    Honestly, initially I was skeptical of Eguavoen handling of Super Eagles considering his antecedents, but listening to thus interview, I'm convinced he will do much better than in the past. He sounds like he have learned from his past mistakes. Please let's support him, he is ours, may you be successful in cameroon coach Eguavoen. So Super Eagles!!!

    I'm supporting Augustine all the way to succeed. I've always believed in Nigerian coaches. They always realize that they don't have any other country to run to if they failed, unlike those mediocre foreign coaches the administrators often imposed on Nigeria. Good luck Big Man. A new dawn is here.

    Wish him all the best, and frankly he does sound like a nice person. Unfortunately he has been given an impossible job with no time at all to make the team his own. If he does well at the AFCON, then he must be a magician; if he doesn't Nigerians are going to turn on him. It's not the best of situation to take up such a demanding job. Anyways he knew the risks and accepted it, wish him and the SE all the luck, they'll need it.

    NIGERIA AFCON WINNERS: WHICH TEAM IS THE BEST?
    As the countdown to the Afcon taking place in Cameroon next January is gathering momentum, there is no doubt that majority of soccer loving Nigerians want the Super Eagles to excel, and go as far winning the trophy, the recent change in the coaching crew not withstanding.
    Interestingly, history is on the side of the Super Eagles as Nigeria bagged a bronze medal at each of the Afcon tournament preceeding the victorious outings of 1980 (Bronze in Ethiopia 1978), 1994 (Bronze in Senegal 1992), and 2013 (Bronze in Angola 2010 though failed to qualify for 2012 edition won by Zambia).
    However, the objective of this piece is to look at each of the winning team to pick the best ever.
    My pick anytime, any day will be the Super Eagles 1994 team, which for me remains the most talented team ever in the history of the Super Eagles. Having reached 2 finals (Maroc 88 & Algiers 90) and a semi final at Senegal 92, the Super Eagles, ably led by the late Stephen Keshi and coached by Clemens Westerhof, were the bookmaker's favourite to win at Tunisia 94 and they lived up to the billing, defeating an highly motivated Zambian team led by Kalusha 2-1 in the final.
    Next is the 1980 winning team led by 'Chairman' Christian Chukwu and coached by Late Otto Gloria, a Brazilian. The team comprising of the 'Mathematical' Chief Segun Odegbami, Muda Lawal, Aloysius Ateugbu, etc who were majestic and thrashed all opposition including the highly rated Algerians 3-0 in the final to win the coveted trophy for the first time in Nigeria's history.
    The last team to win the trophy in 2013, led by Joseph Yobo and coached by the late Stephen Keshi, is for me one of the least talented Afcon winners not only for Nigeria but Africa in general. This is with all due respect and not with the intention of dimishing their unique feat. Though boasting few talented players like John Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo, etc, the team was labelled 'Super chickens' due to their lacklustre performance at the group stages but came to life by beating the highly rated Ivoriens (who were the bookmakers' favourite) in the quarter final against all odds. After brushing aside Mali 4-1, in the Semi final, Nigeria's name was written in the sky and it was no surprise when the Super Eagles pip the Burkinabes by a lone goal to win Nigeria's 3rd Afcon title.
    So which is your pick of the 3 teams? And can the current team emulate them to write their names in gold in the anals of history?

    I am sure 100% The super Eagles has the potential to WIN the World cup coz they have world quality players but the problem is their NFF is just very corrupt and they don't have in mind to win.
    Also if you look at Nigerian team players they always complaining of their bonus, including Cameroon and Ghana but I have never heard of that issue with Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Morocco therefore Nigeria should have proper management and organization.

    I won't deceive you NFF, the current Nigeria football Federation have destroyed our football. Was NFF sleeping before now? Where were you NFF after the last world cup and Afcon? You sacked Gernot Rohr very close to Afcon. Sacking Rohr is the best but at the wrong time. However, to make things worst, what is goal keeper trainer Agu still doing with the team? Since he has been in that team, Nigeria has no good keepers to rely on. You NFF brought back Ighalo, Akpeyi, Shehu and John Noble when we have Dessers, Ebuehi, Adeleye and Osagwe and you are expecting Eguavoen to win the tournament, why are we like this? You the interviewer was biased in this interview. You knew exactly what to ask coach Eguavoen but because all of you are working for Amaju and NFF, you can't pass you boundary. Instead of you to ask the gaffer why did he left out Dessers. Is Ighalo better than Dessers? If yes, In what way? Was Ighalo part of the team before Nigeria qualified for the Afcon?
    You failed to asked the coach why Ebuehi wasn't included and why Adeleye wasn't too and he brought back Akpeyi. John Noble have no business in that team. Akpeyi, Ighalo, Shehu and John Noble names shouldn't have bn on that list if truly NFF wanted coach to win the tournament. You can see now that you people are not serving Nigeria but yourselves. Corruption have ruined everything in Nigeria. Too bad.

      @ambigawankpegh9966 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dessers and co are good but African games are different. They are more physical. Odion Ighalo is still our best striker. Dessers cannot score in difficult matches but Ighalo can.

    • @albarka1
      @albarka1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ambigawankpegh9966 If Osaze could play at the 2006 Afcon against African oppositions, nothing can stop Dessers to play in Cameroon. Moreover, you got it all wrong. Dessers is the best we have now not Ighalo. Dessers can score from anywhere on the pitch. If you watch Ighalo in our last match then Dessers is way ahead of him. NFF and the coaches are playing politics game that is why we are seeing Akpeyi, Ighalo and John Noble.

    Pinnick led NFF have been doing really well. Making our National team professional.
    But in terms of the team performance's. Pinnick is a total failure. I suggest the NFF should create a technical department that's independent and only make reports to the NFF.

    We have local football coaches capable of getting the job done. But the NFF must go for foreign coaches. What have those foreign coaches achieved apart from about 3 of them? I just can't understand those directing our football affairs. You are paying colossal sums to foreign coaches. It has been said times and again create an enabling environment for those local coaches to excel. You are paying foreign coaches in dollars but did you not owe Stephen Keshi and other Nigerian coaches that you are paying in naira? Some people just make insane decisions. All they think about is money that will end up I their pockets.
