  • Earlier this week, the Texas governor had a lot of tough talk for CenterPoint Energy.
    “CenterPoint has completely dropped the ball with regard to getting power back on,” Gov. Greg Abbott said during his first news conference.

    last time he did the "tough" talk, they paid him a million to look the other way. several outages have occurred since then. guess he wants another check.

      You were here. What did you do? Did you offer to help those in need? Did you offer to drive those without AC to a cooling shelter? Do you donate money to shelters or organizations that help those need? Of course not. No matter who is in office you have to learn to help others.
      I am sure you have power or maybe you never lost power, many didn't. So what did you you besides it in a nice AC cooled home drinking a nice cool drink while others suffered and YOU DID NOTHING.

    This is a state level failure. Texas should have been regulating the hell out of centerpoint after the freeze making sure they are continuously cutting limbs and upgrading the system. In my neighborhood they come every 5 years and they only cut small branches nothing large. they also dont take care of branches above the lines only directly on the line be more proactive and tell crews to be more imaginative when trimming when the wind speeds are 80+ everything is going flying. this is just wishful thinking but id like them take care of lines going into houses. this was cat 1 storm what happens when the next one is a 5 or last longer then a day our power grid will be wiped away. From my understanding houston is a pretty important city for the us if texas wont step up to protect it then maybe houston request the feds to protect our grid

    Deregulation does not work, period. Houston Lighting & Power, the old power co. before dereg, used to have trucks up and down neighborhood streets with linemen maintaining power lines or tree crews maintaining overgrown vegetation near power lines. It is the responsibility of power co. to regularly maintain vegetation (power lines are where they make money!) instead of "outsourcing for free" to regular citizens.

    • @dps6198
      @dps6198 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Of course deregulation doesn't work and it didn't' work during regulation. The power companies are NOT responsible for keeping trees trimmed and away from power lines. The city who planted many of those trees along city streets and the citizens who let their trees grow on the easement where power poles and lines are situation. When storms winds break branches and fell trees they will disrupt power.

    Abbott just talking trash for the cameras. He's at Centerpoint right now negotiating his new price. At the 0.20 mark, he started stuttering when he said if Centerpoint doesn't comply to his request, they are going to re-evaluate. He's either lying or he has a speech impediment. I'm gonna choose the 1st one.

      This has zero to do with Biden. Do your research on exactly why TX has this shotty system to begin with. They didn’t want to deal with government interference. This is the result of no oversight. Let the politicians and corrupt corps who make politicians rich and run things like a business. Their bottom line is profits, taxpayers be damned.
