Great job my man! My best friend was killed by a drunk driver coming back from an Underoath Concert 2008. Aaron reached out to me personally and words can't describe how cool that was :) God Bless You, keep pushin'
Thank God. I was reading the comments before I watched and was worried I was going to hate it, but, I loved it and I cried. I liked this version, I was able to sing along with it because Aaron was doing the harmony so I could do the melody.
I don't understand people saying that this is painful or terrible... Aaron was part of this song, a big part of this creation and now he does this with a acoustic guitar and only his voice. I think he does this brilliantly in his own way. This is his version. I love both versions, both this and Underoath's with Aaron Marsh. If you say this is terrible or whatever, you haven't heard nothing or don't have the musical knowledge. This is beautiful!
I miss Aaron. This was the time that he needs my hug and me as brother that will say to him “Hey bro,i love you, Even though i don’t know you,You may be playing drums and singing but we’re the same human being that needs each other in times of uncertainty.
The "Vocalist from another band" is Spencer Chamberlain, and that band is UnderOath. They are one of my all time favorite bands. Aaron Gillespie wrote this song, and every other song off from the album "They're Only Chasing Safety". Him and Spencer Chamberlain sang this together when they were both members of UnderOath. And this is obviously going to be a little different, because he's playing acoustic. Aaron's singing is great, and the original version of this song is absolutely beautiful.
I don't care what anyone says, I think this cover (?) is great. Even his singing was awesome despite what other people believe. His scratchy tone is amazing, and then he can take it down and sing cleanly. He is so loud and I wish I could sing with that much power and control. The small imperfections in his voice are what make it so beautiful and make it stand out from everything else. Also the song was played beautifully, retaining as much passion and power as the original.
Why are you guys dissing the song. It's HIS song. And for those of you saying he shouldn't have left Underoath, it was a good decision on his part. He left because he was the only original member left and he didn't like the direction the band was going, what isn't was starting to stand for. They were moving away from their Christian roots that started it. THAT'S why he joined the band in the first place.
+PainfullyClear Underoath truly began when Spencer joined and Aaron has acknowledged that Theyre Only Chasing Safety is the only album that ever did anything for the band. In my mind, those 6 guys are the original lineup. Aaron told the media that he left for reasons related to his christianity but in retrospect he has said that was false. he was mentally ill and needed to take a step away to concentrate on himself. You should check out his podcast with Shane Told called Lead Singer Syndrome. Aaron reveals alot of truth here. It was a good decision he left though. Underoath was a 110% band and I can only imagine the kind of stress that builds up over the years form that.
Wow I feel alone I guess with this comment I'm about to say... I love this. It's great to see Aaron still playing Underoath songs. This is probably the closest we can get to seeing this song in any form unless Underoath does a reunion tour.
I know this has to be one of Jesus favorite songs of all time. It is such a timeless song, of raw emotions, and sincerity. Just speaks to the heart of Jesus and I know he hears. We are his beloved. "And I swear I know your voice in the crowd" I think this is how Jesus thinks of us regardless where we are in our walk, or how far we've strayed.
Something all of you folks who aren't too stoked on the singing should consider when listening is that Aaron wrote and recorded this song when he was 20 years old, he is 30 now. I don't need to tell y'all what happens to a mans voice as he ages. Especially the voice of a man that has been singing for his entire life.
Not counting the former and present successes in all of his projects, he is still so sure of himself, more so in our Savior. This allows Aaron to be less and less seized by the pressures of a frightening fraction of the world's unending inability to be satisfied, due to their pridefully-heightened sense of false-perfection. Sing with us forever! "You could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else. Forget about self-confidence; it’s useless. Cultivate God-confidence." 1 Corinthians10:11-12
Alright guys. He is still a really great singer. I can tell he didn't warm up before this, so he is straining. Also, he is singing this like there are electric guitars in the background. He didn't change it to fit the acoustic setting. He does a little in the second verse, which is why it sounds good.
Or it's just a different opinion. This is a polarizing arrangement of this song. I think it's fine, but I could totally see why people would hate this.
I stated my opinion and my comment was removed. I just wanted to say that he had so much more passion and emotion in this song when he first wrote it.. I feel like he was trying to give it a different sound, which took away the feeling of how he first wrote the song.
And yet,Aaron and the rest of Underoath are saying that they are no longer a christian band and even went as far to say that they "weren't really that christian to begin with" in a recent interview...It's sad
As an artist records something live for the fans, for whatever reason, with a camera in-face, there's expectantly always some degree of worry in performing up to par, especially with the plethora of critical individuals online looking to voice their opinion and to bash/discredit the names of talented artists. Aaron differs in this, however, being on the receiving end.
Let us non-believers to love this song just as you all do. As for the artist i'm hearing, thank you
Thanks for pouring your heart out for the lord and savior Jesus Chris. Amen brother.
i go to church with him. he cut it last december. i remember he preached a sermon for church and it was short; the week before it was long.
This is a song written by aaron and it has a lot of meaning,
The vocals are raw, powerful and beautiful, awesome job
Aaron Marsh from Copeland sings the majority of this song.
UO didnt write it Aaron Marsh did
TheMarsilver and that's why it's so good.
Already knew I was gonna cry before I even started the video. This hurts in more ways than one.
The words speak volumes. Great tune!!!!
Great job my man! My best friend was killed by a drunk driver coming back from an Underoath Concert 2008. Aaron reached out to me personally and words can't describe how cool that was :)
God Bless You, keep pushin'

Thank God. I was reading the comments before I watched and was worried I was going to hate it, but, I loved it and I cried. I liked this version, I was able to sing along with it because Aaron was doing the harmony so I could do the melody.
Beautiful song! Love the lyrics and your vocals sound amazing.

There will only be one UnderOATH
Bring back this aaron Gillespie
I like it, you can feel his heart...God bless you guys.
Years later and I still love this version
I miss Aaron.
This was the time that he needs my hug and me as brother that will say to him “Hey bro,i love you, Even though i don’t know you,You may be playing drums and singing but we’re the same human being that needs each other in times of uncertainty.
the irony of these songs and where the band is at now
I didn't keep up with the band... it's been a decade! where are they? :(
@@adankarr1308 they are not Christian anymore!!! Lol
his voice makes me cry a little because I know these lyrics are truth coming out of his mouth.... :')
I love the sound of new strings

My favorite UnderOath song. This is awesome!
BEAUTIFUL!
holy crap. the emotion in this is just. wow. amazing.
So raw. Love the lyrics(:
My favorite Underoath´s song
Beautiful.
Such a sweet voice so full of passion.
The end is insane. Emotion and talent to the max.
this song gives me the chills.

9 years since this song was made, and it still lives as well as impact people.

so sad that underoath was going to the wrong direction... He did what he had to do and because of that, I am a big fan of this band. God bless ya
victormania2008 the last good album I listen from they was the Changing times, oooh man good times!
+PainfullyClear Underoath truly began when Spencer joined and Aaron has acknowledged that Theyre Only Chasing Safety is the only album that ever did anything for the band. The vocalist of Copeland (also named Aaron) recorded the original song, Aaron Gillespie and Spencer sang on the later part though =)
This is good. Im ready to come home.
This was so awesome. Love that he's playing it because uo never did.
pretty much my favorite UO song of all time. love it!
Legit gave me chills.
Fuck yes Aaron
In the original, it is Aaron Marsh of Copeland who sang lead here, and Aaron was backing him. And of course the screaming part is Spencer
Very cool! miss you underoath =/
omg my heart!!!! I love Aaron
holy shit aaron has become elvis. and it is the best fucking thing ive ever heard :D
i love This!
Awesome
Great cover!!
Yes, Aaron Marsh is featured in the original version of this song.

Feeling nostalgic so hard right now.
Beautiful song, man. You are just diferente, maybe wild He he. But is needed to be sensible to see that. You're nice!

Too good
Love it
THIS IS AARON GILLESPIE NOW? Wow he looks good!!
Wow just. Wow
I'm ready to come home...
Although he changed vocals, it still has the powerful, nice sounding meaning.
He looks good with that cut. Love this song. still such an inspiration. I miss UO though.
Killed it.

People, people....this is not technically a cover. This is Aaron playing one of former band's songs. This is pretty much his as well.
I don't know how he can sing the chorus without tearing up.
yes it is
Holy fucking shit. Incredible.
Actually, Aaron Marsh from Copeland sang parts of it as well
What i loved most of this song was the melody in vocals, now it kinda sounds like the guy from Drake & Josh trying to do some blues groove :(
Yes, it is a cover from Underoath. The music. The music belongs to UO, not The Almost.
was thinking he'd do a SMEMONA HEE HOO yell at one point lol
Anthony Cosadal kamedeyahah!! 😂😂😂
Please pray for Aaron
No,he sings the original song,Aaron and Spencer.
Amen
Pretty silly question mate. Got off this video a month ago.
Why are people ripping into this? Great job man.
Or it's just a different opinion. This is a polarizing arrangement of this song. I think it's fine, but I could totally see why people would hate this.

hermoso
holy crap
He cut it like 4 years ago.
What tuning is he in? it sounds like DADGAG and maybe open C?
Well, you're wrong.
I've definitely seen photos of him with short hair before 4 months ago.
💜💜💜
Anyone have any idea what tuning he's in? It looks like drop D / drop C, but I'm not sure
It's called DADGAD open tuning :)
Russel Aitkenhead That tuning sounds amazing! ive never used it tho.... must be pretty scarce.
Its surprisingly used quite a bit in metal and emo vibes. This is used for most of the Dashboard Confessional songs and City & Colour stuff. Very cool
Thats weird! I play 'the girl' by city and coulor' but the version i know is standard tuning. Ill have to look into it more!
OKAY im sorry this was fucking AWESOMEFUL go aaron lol
Sharter189 lolololol you dingus
Ben Jarrett hahahha you can't like it was quite terribad
He's just saying he wishes Aaron stayed with Underoath. I think he's entitled to say that.
so i went ahead and sang the higher harmonies over the chorus :P
If ur listening I'll hear ur voiceout loud
And yet,Aaron and the rest of Underoath are saying that they are no longer a christian band and even went as far to say that they "weren't really that christian to begin with" in a recent interview...It's sad
Anyone know the tuning?? Sounds open
WHY DID HE CUT HIS WONDERFUL HAIR?!?!?!
Mae,one more thing before I sign off, can the real aaronrgillespie post me him self this time please, thank you, bye. Mae :)
I respect his creative twist on this but I'll take the original version. I still love me some Underoath.

temazo !!
are you not a fan of underoath/the almost?
Not to mention Arron Marsh from Copeland sang half of it :D
Matt L He sang 90% of it actually. And wrote it.
is this on drop d tuning?
Christian Southern rock
mackelmore?
Aaron can sing the mic they used just couldn't catch the sound of both his voice and guitar at the same time
