- I lined the leaves and added soil to the second raft. The seeds have germinated after a period of soaking. I started sowing them on floating rafts.

Do you have any tips? if the rice that grows on those paddies won't get too heavy?, I think I need to do something so I don't sink or fall
I think you should Just stabilize this , take some bamboo to water and stand that boat on that
Maybe you can just add more bamboo around the frame to make it more buoyant?
You could make supports fromdried wood logs. If you can make lacquer, that should make the supports last longer. But I'd check if lacquer would harm the water quality first before applying it. Plain wood is probably just safer.
Put tree bark underneath bro..it may help..thank me later..hehe
Maybe you could put some wood frames from the floor of the pond to lift the heavy parts of the raft

Hi. I love your idea of the floating rice bed. I pray it works. It might be as pretty as what you have now but when I was a kid my family would use empty barrels under the raft to help it stay up. I have also seen some use empty milk or juice jugs tied to the raft to help it float. You would probably need alot of milk jugs if that's what you use.

I really like your idea about grown rice using hydroponics (floating rice paddies). In answer to your question about "doing something so they don't sink", I would wait and see, if they look like they are starting to sink, add more bamboo under the rafts at either end, so you do not risk damaging the roots that should grow through the raft. If you tied bamboo in big bundle and kept them ready, just in case, if not needed, then you will have some more fire wood! So win, win! :) Your rocking the new shirt look man! Just some clarification from someone in the know: hydroponics doesn't use soil. This is aquaponics since there is soil and the use of high nutrient fish water from the aquaculture (fish farm)

But I think the guy well might understood what the hell I was trying to say to him, seeing as I was typing my answer to his question, but it seems I was instead taking a test on the correct word for growing plants in water! Who would have thunked it!

I would not stick my nose into two other people chat and correct what they were talking about between them selves, even if I knew what was being said was wrong, that would just be rude! But I guess it is the way things are now a days. I'm just from a different century, with different values.

his pools are serene..as the way he handles fish..gentle and kind.
This might work short term. I think you will have to build concrete piers and then form up some troughs that sit above or near the water. this way you can flood the water in to them. Mostly around the edge. A year or 2 and these bamboo ones will be rotted out.
The same should be done for your main water line. Start collecting rocks and make concrete piers for a new and better water way.
For the water deck, maybe it's time to upgrade it to a brick foundation filled with dirt and then make some clay tiles for the decking instead of having to rebuild it every couple of months because the bamboo or wood rots out. You could leave a gap between the decking tiles so the water would drain in between them and then flow into the pond. You could do the same thing for the bamboo shower tower as well and then you'd just have to replace the bamboo spigots when they rot out. Sure it won't be as pretty as the bamboo ones, but it'll save you so much time on repairs.
it's more safe too, imagine if the wood breaks with him standing onto it...

@@luiz3620 That's what I was thinking as well, we've seen how quickly the bamboo and wood can rot there.
@@cursedxistence it would work but the reason we use bamboo's because we meant to float freely in any pond and lake and the water level doesn't stay. It could get higher or lower than what the normal level of pond by the day time and weather change.

Une suggestion peut-être pour garder le bois dans le temps. Le brûler légèrement pour qu'une croûte se forme, puis brosser. Le bois brûlé laisse une couche de "gras" qui le rend plus imperméable à l'eau.
Vous pourrez le garder ainsi plus longtemps.

Hey, so there is this thing called vermicomposting which is basically composting, but with worms. The soil produced is very rich in fertile nutrients. It van also be used to breed worms which have a few uses I can think of for your situation. As fish food, fish bait, and as soil regulators for your floating rice fields

Going outside and building anything takes alot of time. My parents have a 20 feet by 20 feet garden in their backyard and they spend anywhere from 2-5 hrs a day in the back. That's just gardening.

You can grow anything on rafts like that. For that bigger raft I would go, 4 bamboo pontoons each having 8 bamboo bundles (have to be big ones and tightened wery hard). That should give +3000kg weight limit

I think hills and Terrace for rice, neither way the rafts or digging is huge effort.
Or build a extra wall across the pond, drain one side and use for rice planting, and water rice from pond.

if you find a way to make some kind of oil you will be able to make your wood more durable. you just have put one or two coat of oil on the piece of wood.
