- Most favorite alert theme and enemy voice overs in the whole series. This track just has so much tension and urgency in it. IMO the enemy AI was the best in MGS2 aswell. I also included the track from the battle with Olga, at 3:48 , another great instrumental piece ~

the mgs2 soldiers were the most brutal aggressive and tenacious enemies in the series

I just started playing the Tanker after completing MGS 1 with very few alerts. These guys really are.much harder. I just keep getting caught.
Garlukovich soldiers are great. They got a short end of the stick but that's every character in mgs series.

Enemies in this game were so intelligent imo, especially when they would do a clearing of a room.
Still a classic I love playing today.
It's a trick actually, the enemies have a unique search pattern for every single room. It's all scripted, but it's very convincing

It was dynamic. Calm, cool and collected "Encountered the enemy, requesting backup". That's before all hell breaks loose. "ENEMY SIGHTED! I NEED REENFORCMENTS ASAP!" When all the shit has hit the wall
The guard AI is what made this game one of the greatest stealth games in my opinion. When you get caught, you really felt the pressure of everyone searching for you, and hiding in a locker wasn't an absolute guarantee that you'd escape cleanly. The way they would go room to room, plan out their search strategy, stay in formations and give status reports to their HQ was just pure awesomeness to witness.
We need more games of the stealth genre in the same caliber as the MGS series.

Loved how this guy legitimately sounded terrified of the situation. Some armed assailant just tearing his team apart then vanishing into the darkness of the ship's corridors.
These voice overs were amazing. They mention the locations where they last saw you and everything. They panic if one of them gets cut off.

Oh I remember their movement and formation gotta love the AI.
MGS2 Had the most challenging AI compared to any other MGS game. Think about it, the soldiers roll out of corners shooting, rush you with riot shields, shotguns and bullet proof vests... all at the same time, you have very limited ammunition. On top of that, they check ALL lockers, look under surfaces/ lob grenades in if they saw you go in. They throw flashes into rooms before entering too! This was the only MGS game I prayed NOT to get caught in! Thumbs up if you agree!
I remember how groundbreaking was the presentation of this game back in 2001 and the Radio chatter was one of those things that make you said "OMG this is Playstation 2 !! "

This music just makes it feel like there are 5 events happening simultaneously.. all with cataclysmic results if one shit happens wrong. One of the best audios in the series.

Its was an honor playing this game😢🥺
The AI in this game was really good at pressuring the player into finding hiding places. The addition of shutting down transceivers, dragging bodies, and the first person mode allowed for meticulous planning. I really felt like a badass after knocking out all the incoming soldiers one time and then hiding all of them away from any other search teams.

The Cloud district guy voices a main villain in Code Vein.
It seems the Civil War in skyrim caused these guys to travel to different worlds.
Balgruuf did a lot of video game work in the early 2000s, I took a couple 6th gen trips down memory lane last year and heard him in so many games.

when I first played this game I remember being in complete awe at the enemy a.i when searching for you. The way they'd systematically go room by room. it was so impressive
at 0:22, I use to encounter intruders like you, then I took an arrow to the knee.

Watching this video is like a train to the past, it almost feel like the first time i played MGS 2 in the new generation PS2 back in 2001
For those who are Intimidated by the Big Boss Trophy, remember that you can be on caution, but just don't get alert mode at all.
Also this can be a good prank for anyone u wanna prank on,hahah.
I played this video and it buffered so long the alert sound effect made me jump and was instant in panic mode.

I played this game 10 years after it originally came out. Back in 2011, I bought a copy of MGS 2 for the xbox at a pawnshop. It was the first MGS game I beat. I played very little of the original on PS1 back a long time ago now, but I can't wait for the collection so I can play this again along with the other games

Guys this game was from 2001! Incredible how good enemies writing was done!
Harry Gregson-Williams did not do this. He produced the CUTSCENE music from MGS2, 3, and 4. The in-game music for 2 and 3 is done by a Japanese guy called Norihiko Hibino.
