    one of the most important things i forgot to mention is that you *_CAN NOT_* transfer to a city/province if your *_current contract date ends after the starting contract date of the location you want to move to._* make sure to ask your EPIK coordinator beforehand if this will be an issue for you!!!!

    Also, since you’re already in Korea, was it easier to ask for the specific city you wanted to be in and get it or was it by chance as it usually is with EPIK?

    • @heyitsanne
      @heyitsanne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      nope, everything is by chance as usual

    Hi Anne, I’m in the same boat now. And I’m thinking about moving to another area and leaving my school 🥺 but I’m not going to be here much longer and I want to try put a new area before I decide to leave Korea. I’ve been here for 3 years now. And I’ve been hesitant to really to EPIK I don’t want to lose the current salary and benefits i have with my current contract. Basically I don’t want to go back. Did you have this problem? I’m in gyeonggi-do and would love to move to a new province.

    • @heyitsanne
      @heyitsanne  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's super nerve-wracking to re-apply knowing that you may not get the location you ask for, and potentially losing your current position at your school 😭 i didn't mind the salary change because moving from sejong to seoul put me at the exact same salary that i was at. but the biggest piece of advice i have is that if you know you want to be placed in only one place (example, seoul), make sure you check your contract date and the location you want to move to. you *_CAN NOT_* transfer to a city/province if your *_current contract date ends after the starting contract date of the location you want to move to._* i would definitely shoot EPIK an email or a phone call if possible and ask them first! i know this was more of a problem for people in gyeonggi wanting to move to other locations (not seoul) because seoul and gyeonggi start their main intake AFTER the rest of korea. so their only choice was seoul. i hope that made some sense😅😅

    Is there a limit to how many years you can teach in Korea ?

    hearing the costs is blowing my mind, thinking back to how expensive it was getting my documents in my home country that first time 😅 i have a question, how did you manage the relations with your co teachers after deciding to transfer? i’m really worried about making things awkward in the office, especially since the application is so early in the year.

    • @heyitsanne
      @heyitsanne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      i know! it’s so much cheaper 😂 i was pretty open about it with my co-teacher for a while and wanted to make her aware that i would be leaving. once i told all of my teachers, we were all sad of course, but i think it was better for me to tell them months before rather than last minute. and they were always checking in and reassuring me during the whole process which was so nice 🥰

    Anne. I’ll need korean won for about 30 days of living. Where do I get my won when I land? Coming aug 2021

    • @heyitsanne
      @heyitsanne  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can exchange money in the airport once you arrive. there are several banks to choose from. their rates are similar to what you would find in an exchange booth in the city. if you aren’t coming from the us or the uk i would possibly suggest converting your country’s currency to USD then won when you land (optional and not completely necessary)

      @@heyitsanne if landing after 5pm can I use an atm at incheon airport?

    • @heyitsanne
      @heyitsanne  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i believe so, but i am not sure. it’s been a while since i’ve been at incheon airport 😅

    Did you already have Letters of Recommendation from your current school when you submitted your application on 1st August?

    • @heyitsanne
      @heyitsanne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i can’t remember exactly but i don’t think i did. i cant remember if it was needed to apply but epik changes the application slightly every intake

    So since you say your time in Korea is ending soon what’s next for you? I know you love teaching and that’s what you got your degree and so do you plan to go back and get your masters so that you can like teach stateside or what’s next for Anne?
