hang in there, it comes in spurts and will surprise you. didnt have the internet 50+ years ago, and no teacher, so it was the woods with a few of the harps I had and just play. Then all of sudden, I sounded pretty decent one day. Had to stop but still hunger for the sound. Stay with it, you will be glad you did.
Love what you wrote there Robert, sounds a lot like what I experienced too 50 years ago... the woods, in a cabin I built and blowing my harp. I too felt I I began to sound comfortably decent but at some point I started to slack off but inspired by what you have said, I think, is gonna motivate me to pull out some of those dusty harps from my bag and get to work on blowing them again. Thanks for the inspiration.
@nitwit2008 My understanding is that if you play the harmonica in the key of the song its straight harp. This Am song she is playing a D harp which is cross harp. The only reason it works is because Its a Perfect Fourth (A one B two C three D four). An Am song could harmonize with A, C, D, or even E. B and G wouldnt work so good tho usually
