- Tin cry, an odd phenomenon where the crystals in metal under mechanical stress twin and emit a noise. I was cutting up tin stick the other day and thought it may make an interesting video.
So here it is, talking tin!
This also occurs in zinc, as you'll see in this video, solid mercury, cadmium, indium and several other metals. I just used tin and zinc in this experiment but I can do another clip with more different metals if anyone wants to see them, just comment and ask.
I did not know that Toby. Mind you, when I worked in a non-ferrous metal factory in my younger days, there were way too many other noises! It would have needed to be a screech at alien levels!
Yes they are noisy places to work!
