Bananas vs. Florida Sand: Why They Didn’t Work for Us

- In this video, we made the tough decision to remove two of our four banana mats from the food forest. While bananas thrive in wetter conditions, our Florida sugar sand just doesn’t hold enough moisture to support them well. We’ve had great success growing bananas in the wetlands of Golden B Farm, but in our sandy garden, they struggled.
Instead of forcing plants to grow where they don’t thrive, we’re embracing what works best! We’re excited to welcome Burgess Caimito and Arue Canistel to the food forest. Follow along as we make the switch and talk about why it’s important to grow what grows best in your unique garden!

Hey Kc ! I’ve had success with bananas. ❤ last year I harvested 9 racks of bananas, it would have been 10 but Milton took it down.
Isn't there a canal at the back of your property?
@ yes ! That’s helping me a lot and I planted bananas at the edges and they are growing really fast and healthy. I only feed them fruit peels and other organic matter.
@ btw Kc , do you have P-22 mango ?
