This song, this album... this whole comeback... is for SONEs (their fanbase). With the comeback, they also have a show out where they hang out together, play games, do challenges... just like the olden days. For fans who have shown them love for 15 years... it is extremely nostalgic and emotional to see them all (minus 1) together again.
With every variety shows they do, it truly show the world why they were one of the most successful group in Kpop. It is that they can sing, dance, or look pretty; those are pretty much requirements for this industry. The reason why fans love them so much is because they each stand out in their own ways; their personalities and individuality are so different and so bright.
There are currently so many girl groups out there. Most kpop idol looking similar and sounding similar... SNSD's comeback is a refreshing reminder of how awesome they are, not only as kpop stars, but as human beings.

First,a group of soloists, musical artists, actresses, djs, hosts, businesswomen, endorsers, ambasadresses, chefs, authors, etc. to have all these successful individuals in one group is beyond incredible.
Secondly,I'm literally crying watching the MV. Been a sone since 2011 and I’m so happy to see them together again. And also the line distribution and vocals, my god! And you can also notice on the video their individual career. Happy 15th Anniversary to the Queens and the k-pop legendary Girl Group!
【Btw:The story is kinda like ITNW where each member is doing their thing except in this they are all working their ass off like the real artist they are in real life (singer Taeyeon, DJ HYO, actress Yoona, jetsetting Fany, musical actress Seohyun, modelling Yul, superstar Sunny and Soo). But of course they still come together as SNSD, as one!】

So, during the 5 years hiatus, they've been focusing on their solo career and that's what the mv trying to show. This cb was about them coming back from doing succesful solo careers as a group to celebrate the group's 15th anniversary.
Taeyeon and Hyo (her main job is a pro DJ now and both of you reacted to her song "Deep" too) are soloists. Sunny's doing variety shows. Tiffany Young's focusing on her musical career (she starred in Chicago Korea last year as Roxie Hart) and about to make her kdrama debut this year. Yoona, Sooyoung, Seohyun and Yuri (she's a pro chef too) are focusing on their acting careers. Yoona and Sooyoung have their dramas airing right now. Seohyun's just ended last week and Yuri's will air on the 24th. Some of their projects available on Netflix and Disney+.

Girls' Generation's "Forever 1" is their first comeback as a full group in 5 years and it's in celebration of the group's 15th anniversary. The full group last made a comeback in 2017 with their songs "Holiday" and "All Night" right before 3 of the members decided not to renew their contract with SM Entertainment -- Tiffany, Sooyoung, and Seohyun. However, all 3 said they didn't leave SNSD and they would come back again as a full group someday. That is why in 2018 the group formed a sub-unit Oh!GG with the 5 members who are still with SM -- Taeyeon, Yoona, Yuri, Sunny and Hyoyeon -- and released the song and MV "Lil' Touch." "Forever 1" is a fulfillment of the promise that they would be back and that they would still continue to be a close-knit group no matter where life took them.
"Forever 1" is about how even though they all have been focusing on developing their solo careers and they are all doing their own things now, spread out all over the world, they will forever be one as a group and they will still come back together to celebrate with their fans, etc. Which is why in the MV they show each member participating in solo activities -- such as several of the members performing as solo artists and models for clothing companies or products, or Yoona on the set as she films a drama, etc. You see Tiffany on a plane as she flys back to Korea because she is Korean-American and she has been working outside of Korea during her hiatus, and you see her choosing colors and making fabric choices, etc. because she has created her own brand and is working in the fashion industry, she has released solo albums, and written a book, etc. However, in the end, they all come together again as SNSD as they perform "Forever 1."
This is also a celebration of all the things SNSD has accomplished over the years, which includes the fact that they were named "the nation's girl group" by the South Korean government way back in 2007 when they debuted and they still hold that title today. Pretty much every song SNSD releases is consider a Kpop "national anthem," so you're not wrong, "Forever 1" will most likely become one as well.
They are the girl group, that most other girl groups who came after them are modeled after and they are the girl group that everyone looks up to and respects for their contributions to the Kpop industry. They are Super Junior's sister group and they have a similar group dynamic and style as SuJu.

When I was listening to the album, I wasn't really vibing with the songs at first...but it turns out they put all the good songs for old people (disco/R&B) all in the back half of the album!
Loving all these 2nd gen groups doing reunions of various degrees this year, but JYP, where's my Wonder Girls reunion??? (Something aside from their little one-on-one things they've been doing.)
EXID officially announced they're doing a 10th anniversary webcast on the 13th, and they were photographed at a recording studio, so I'm expecting them to drop a new song alongside the show.
