This is one of my favorite evanescence songs. You know, you're most likely right. Her songs are about relationships. But I like my interpretation better though. To me this song is about battling with depression. But if you really think about it, you can be depressed in a relationship so fair enough. I always told myself that she was singing to her fans who can relate to having depression like "is it so hard for you?" And the "lie" referring to how depression lies to you, the belief that everything is hopeless and there's no value in living your life, is a lie. And it does feel like depression is self inflicted.. I mean, you can't exactly blame someone else for making you depressed. It just happens because of a way of life. But yeah it's actually about a relationship most likely.
