The woodpecker probably heard a hollow sound. Which is what they peck for to find grubs and bugs inside trees. He mistook your trail cam for a hollow area and did what they do haha.

I lived in a three-story house that was made of steel and the fireplace chimney was solid steel and ran from the bottom floor all the way out of the roof. Then a woodpecker discovered it and obviously loved how loud it was. So every morning at about 6 AM everybody in the house would get woken up from this little sucker pecking on the chimney. It would resonate throughout the whole entire house!
😅. A flicker drummed on the roof of our corn crib at dawn. Heavy sheet metal, conical. That resonated so loud, my brother, then a high school junior shot it, then went back to bed!
We have similar case where a woodpecker returns every spring and noises up the neighborhood by pecking the siding. He must like the area, because he goes to a few houses 🏘 for his pecking entertainment.
I have had problems with woodpeckers in the past. I have found that reflective surfaceses help keep them away. You may want to try something like Shurtape DC 181 HVAC tape on parts of the camera and/or the tree to disuade them. Anything with a mirror like surface will probably work.
I’m going to start taking a game camera with me when I go camping. Had some lowlife thief steal my Blackstone griddle from our picnic table a few weeks back. Nothing lower than a thief.
Thanks for showing us the damage and what caused it in this video, instead of asking us to like, subscribe and check out part 2 for the answer. You're a rarity!
I went with black bear since they're usually the ones that destroy Tim Harrell's trail cams. They're like raccoons but with big enough teeth to pierce the sensor.
My apartment building has sustained much damage to its siding from Northern Flickers over the years. The owners went to significant expense to have it resided with a better type of siding. The little monsters haven't returned once they discovered the change.
That’s happened to a couple of mine. I assume they hear the small noises coming from in the camera as it powers up and starts taking photos. And it sounds hollow, and they try and eat whatever is inside.
We reported Woodpeckers in the trees on public property next door, inspectors said no reason for worry. A week later massive tree branch fell 2ft from roof line fell but blocked entry.
Animals got to love them the glare probably looked like a grab to him so he was breaking through that reflection luckily he was smart enough to know once he broke through that there wasn't any worm in it

"And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids!" - Hairy Woodpecker (probably)
😂... unfortunately he still did get away with it.
Ruh Roh!
A definition of being a "pecker wood." Lmao 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Shout out! @Stefanolaniro real ones will get it.

They will drum on objects as a call. The trail cam probably made a nice sound when the woodpecker tapped on it.
Think you’re spot on there Doug

Well its a form of "bug device"
probably first discovered it because it reflected light and caught its eye..
It's so refreshing to see it be an animal and not a human bashing your camera.
A human is an animal.
@@theatomic430 The worst in my experience.
I wasn't expecting this. Quite wholesome actually.

@joycebrewer4150 Is your brother still a pos or did he grow the F up?
I heard that it is a mating thing for prowess. I guess the idea is that the louder their pecking noise, the better the mate.
Love and Hilarious 😂 Thank's ❤
"😡 They keep bugs in this safe I KNOW IT!" 🤣
😅😂
I was assuming it was plinked by an angry poacher.
Same. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was just an angry bird
The camera would have destroyed inside if shot. Clearly it was only the outside piece that was damaged.
Same
Wasn’t thinking poacher, but just a delinquent.
Me too, but on second thought, they would have taken the whole camera worried about sd card evidence.
Sorry the bird broke the camera, but way cool to see the little stinker!
Haha no big deal. Definitely gave me a good laugh!
What r u sorry for?
I totally agree awesome video❤
@@goldman7267the bird breaking the camera of course

I know they’re not cheap but that’s priceless. Keep that footage.
It’s on TH-cam. It’s saved now.
What do you mean? All birds go "cheap".....
Lesson learned, dont keep bugs in your trail cam
Hahaha!
The bird didn’t have consent for you to record them🤣
I know nobody will believe me, but I actually guessed a woodpecker lol
Good guess!!
same🤩
Me too! Especially when I heard the knocking sounds
I guessed just by the looks but i was thinking of the woodpecker thats white red and black
Same here lol

Yes there is…. A thief 6 ft under 🤪
Maybe the Sasquatch have taken to cooking their dinner.
You're supposed to go where there are no picnic tables, in the boonies.

you did camping wrong
"It's a hairy woodpecker", sounds like an insult. 😂😂😂
As soon as I heard the knocking sound, I knew it was a woodpecker! 😆

That woodpecker is going through its villain arc.
He said " Hmmmm what is this thingy majiger here " 🤣🤣🤣🤣 the look on the birds face got me
As soon as I saw that busted plastic, I knew it was a cheeky little woodpecker.
And you want a medal?
The answer is always Sasquatch
i blame Canada
For some reason I was really expecting it to be a random person vandalizing it. 😂😂
That woodpecker could start an asmr channel
"Me walking the dog, not gonna be that"
Nice try....you were only caught TWICE! XD
I was honestly thinking it was going to be a human..... A woodpecker never crossed my mind. What a hooligan!
Woodpecker: " Aha, You see me? Now you don't see me."
That’s happened to a couple of mine. I assume they hear the small noises coming from in the camera as it powers up and starts taking photos. And it sounds hollow, and they try and eat whatever is inside.
Woodpecker at the end was dropping a nice beat
My first thought: Woodpecker
My final thought: Ahhh, a woodpecker.
Heard one pecking on a metal gable vent. I thought someone was banging on it with a hammer. Those birds are no joke.
Thank you for making me laugh today!.... I'm still laughing..... Yep I'm still laughing 😂... I suppose he was beating around the bush..
Little guy just wanted to say hi to us all!
As soon as I heard it, I thought, "Stinkin bird pecked his way through"
I knew it was a wood pecker. Very fond of that sound. Our old house had ceader paneling and a wood pecker loved I was always filling the holes.😊
Oh that Wraskily Woodpecker !!! "sings the Woody Woodpecker song!"
Hahaha
Lol! Woodpeckers think that the small electric pulses of cameras are insects like ants under bark. They seem to routinely attack doorbell cameras too.
the moment i heard that rhythmic tapping i was like 'gotta be woodpecker'. poor guy's just lookin for a snack!
Woodpecker is doing due diligence- forest patrols!!😂
Dam woodpecker got me. 😂😂😂
that is too cute 🥰
“You rascal!” Wholesome response 😂
I find it funny that as soon as I heard the sound I was like "is that a woodpecker" 😭😂
Bird: Oh hey what's this new thing? Will new thing have bugs?? LETS SEE
So disappointing. I can't believe birds still can just get away with this. The world is truly a cruel place.
For I second I was going to say ‘ it’s the legendary dodo bird ‘ 😂😂😂
No surprise that a woodpecker would leave a hole in it. I didn't think a squirrel would do that. Now a human would have probably done more damage.
We reported Woodpeckers in the trees on public property next door, inspectors said no reason for worry. A week later massive tree branch fell 2ft from roof line fell but blocked entry.
Woodpecker, Make sure you don't use any polarized plastics.
LOL, we have a woodpecker that is determined to put a hole in the Metal Light pole at our back yard. They are a determined species.
Woodpecker.."hhHEY HEY!! YOU CANT RECORD ME!..I WANT TO SPEAK TO YOUR MANAGER NOW SIR!"
Dude looked both sides of the road before commiting a hate crime😂
hahaha he called it a rascal. i dont know why but that always makes me chuckle when someone does that.
Woodpeck…hello nemesis. Attacked my hunting blind.
I haven't seen what it is yet but that looks like something a woodpecker would do
"Hey! Hey! You got any bugs inside that?!"
Red squirrels are endangered, leave alone!
We just had that happen to one of our cameras like a week ago! I couldn’t believe a woodpecker would do it.
I was half expecting a jumpscare
Lawyers reaction 😂
I immediately said woodpecker especially after hearing that noise
Sasquatch was my guess. They hate being spied on and can detect them from beyond the range of the camera.
The moral to the story is "never assume".
The woodpecker should have no expectation of privacy when he’s out in a public place like that.
So glad that it was a Woodpecker, not a vandal.
Animals got to love them the glare probably looked like a grab to him so he was breaking through that reflection luckily he was smart enough to know once he broke through that there wasn't any worm in it
He's your new IT department, he got a call that there was a bug in your camera 🤣
😂 "You rascal." (👁v👁) im sorry he broke your camera, but that is funny.

They do this kind of stuff. I've been feeding a woodpecker for a while with insect houses set-up
The wood peaker doesn't want to be flimed XD
That last clip is about to be a meme
I was expecting a more nefarious vandal than a silly little bird
The speed of the bird made it look photoshopped in
Sounded like a woodpecker. And it was!
They tear up our pwer poles too.
Woody the Woodpecker was always a camera hound in those Warner Brother's cartoons.
Yup, I've had woodpeckers bust up my cam too...

Im happy it wasn't a person. As town develops closer to us we see more people roaming on our property
Spotted a reflection, huh? How much protection could that area be given without detraction from its functio?. Is that another lens hidden inside?
Scared the crap out of me seeing that blurry figured walking towards the trail cam, till he said, "oh that's me checking the camera."
