    I was choosing between the Q8 pro and SP36 pro. I watched some videos stating that there is barely a difference when it comes to light output between the 2. So I went with the SP36 pro instead. Now I just saw this video and it confirms my choice! I like the good mix of throw and flood that the 36 pro offers. Great video by the way!

      Yes, the 36pro is more of a balanced beam profile and plenty bright enough - The thing with the 36pro that put people off is the smooth reflector (helps with the throw) which causes those 'rings'

    This is the comparison I needed, already own an SP36 Pro and was wondering wether to look into a Q8 but I think it not going to be enough of an upgrade for me. I work in security so the extra throw is more usable for me and the spill is still plenty for the closer range stuff.

    • @flashlightsuk1422

      I agree, I think the Q8 will appeal to those wanting the extra power with a 'clean' (if thats the right word) beam profile. If you're not bothered by those 'rings' on the 36 and already have a 36 I can't see a need for the Q8

      I own both. The SP36pro gets super hot real quick. Q8pro handlles heat better. Otherwise both are unique, Q8 is a beast! 36pro baby beast!

    Thanks a bunch for this direct comparison! Both seem to have their own strengths - one for closer range, the other for distance. It´s a bit anti intuitive that a ramp ceiling (non turbo) in the Q8 Pro is available via advanced settings, in the SP36 Pro via simple settings (in mine anyway).
    I´m doing a lot of urban exploration, and I see a use case for both. The Q8 Pro might have 2 additional advantages: It can charge a Smartphone, and the brightness at close range might help in a self defense scenario.

    • @voixdelabime
      @voixdelabime 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think both Q8 and SP36 can be considered as self defence non-lethal weapons. No one can stand that light at close quarters without closing their eyes, or otherwise risking going temporarily blind or even suffering permanent eye damage. Plus, you can inflict a serious blow with such a heavy object in your hand. But better never being in a situation where you must use it.

    I’ve got mine mounted on the front of a high powered e-scooter so it cops heaps of wind as you’re riding at 30-40kmph which helps to cool it down. But I’m disappointed at how much it ramps down even though it’s being cooled by the wind.

    Great videos but you really need to stop put one beam inside the other. it just adds to the brightness of the beams together what you need to do is point one up into the sky away from testing the beam that you shine onto the subject. just saying it would give a better vision of the beam range. and brightness.
    s plus the spread

    Sofirn are currently discounting the Q8 Pro by 45% so I grabbed one in 5000k for £35 including batteries which cost about £20 alone so basically getting the light for about £15 delivered. Of course I absolutely don't need it but how can you let an offer like that go by? I couldn't.

    I'm looking for a Soda Can style flashlight that has fairly far throw on Medium/high settings. I was looking at the Wurkos TS30, and I like the throw on it, but I want a bigger battery pack which is why I'm looking at Soda Can style lights. I want it to throw about 400m, maintain 1000+ Lumens for like 2.5-3 hrs.

    Partially based on your review and beam comparison I got the Q8 Pro a few weeks ago and am so far very satisfied with it. The characteristics are immediately apparent: A softer, much more spread out light beam compared to other flashlights. For my main purpose, urbexing, it´s actually better, because a wider beam improves spatial orientation in narrow, confined spaces, which is important if those environments are structurally compromised.
    The only downside: So far I haven´t been able to use this torch to it´s full potential, because in general these modern flashlights are so bright it´s easy to spot a person even through a dusty, grimy window from the outside in broad daylight. While urbexing, you don´t want to call undue attention upon yourself, which is why I´m cranking the Q8 Pro up only as much as necessary. However, less light and a wider beam is preferable to me than a brighter, but narrow spotlight.
    Now I´m curious what Sofirn´s next step will be in the high-lumen department.....!

      Blf has bettel color and smooth beam.

    Interesting comparison, thank you! I'm looking to pick up a Q8 Pro and I have a SP36 5000k LH351D, I suppose in that case the Q8 Pro will throw further and I'm sure I'l like the clean beam much more than the SP36... I can get distracted by its flower pattern and I also feel like the SP36 is also sometimes not spreading the light "wide" enough, close to your feet and stuff. I'm tinking I'll miss the light "quality" (CRI) of the SP36 though, but then again the powerbank functionality and Anduril 2 seem quite handy to me!

    • @flashlightsuk1422
      @flashlightsuk1422  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The uneven spread of the 36 series could be considered a downside for some - I don't mind it - I like the extra distance, and yes the high CRI on that model is a feaure to be considered. I guess a point may be that Sofirn really are offering a vast choice and variation on their lights to suit personal preference. I really wouldn't like to use the term 'better' in regard to one of their lights over another - just different and the difference between the SP36 5000k versus the Q8 may justify having both. The 36pro and Q8 pro are alot closer to each other to perhaps justying picking one over the other?
