Ray took it like a champ, almost laughing at the insanity of what just happened. Noone could have expected the weapon to break like this, also taking the wheel with it. That hit was crazy.
it did i think, you can just about see the bit of blade look like it flys almost underneath the right wheel but soon as it goes past it the wheel comes flying off.
To see Bite Force shaping up in 2018 against Hyper Shock which, on paper, stood a chance, only to see it eviscerated after two hits just shows that Bite Force is STILL a top contender!
After looking at the slowcam several times I've realized that Bite Force hit directly to the blade, so the hit made it "bent", but because we're talking about S7 steel it doesn't bents, it just get shattered.
The problem here (besides Bite Force being the champ, Tombstone was the winner of the giant nut in 2016 so the video total is wrong) is that S7 in a weapon blade is good for digging in and taking big chunks outta armor steel but bad cos got that hardness you pay a price in the material being quite brittle and breaking apart as we see here.
This is pretty much a showcase battle of an old generation bot vs a contemporary bot and it really shows why the modern ones prevailed. Big, chunky weapon bot vs a compact, faster bot. Now with the last championship we're probably heading towards complex and unconventional bots.
Well is actually about a good design, Paul Ventimiglia is an awesome designer, is hard for both old and new gen to equal his skills. Old types of robots can be dangerous, just look at Riptide, an eggbeater

Robot Combat has always had a countdown, aside from when a machine goes into an instant elimination zone like the pit in Robot Wars. Tombstone was pretty clearly finished, but they still did the countdown for consistency’s sake; a robot isn’t necessarily knocked out when it stops moving for a few seconds.
now Tombstone has two enemies: Bite Force and Rotator speaking of Rotator: What do you think will happen in the Bite force vs Rotator fight??? if Rotator was able to destroy Ice Wave and Tombstone, could he destroy Bite Force?

I won't mention specifics or TH-cam's censorship algorithm will delete my comment. But it may possibly involve the zealous followers of some deluded nut nailed to a cross. As I said once before, this fight reminded me of the first time the very impressive and hitherto unsinkable Mike Tyson went down in the boxing ring. Worshipful fans (who'd probably already had his face tattooed across their back and renamed their pitbull and/or girlfriend 'Tyson') protested, saying that it didn't count. "No, no, no, Mike only seemed to lose because the other guy hit him in the face and knocked him out, so it doesn't really mean anything and he's still undefeated..." Hmm... 🤔
I genuinely despise those who try and argue "Well you got lucky because the other bot stopped working/broke". And who's fault is it that the bot broke? I've seen people complain about Gruff and Hypershock because "Gruff only won because Hypershock stopped working". That's the point. Gruff cooked Hypershock, drove it into the walls multiple times and it started to smoke. Not luck. Die-hard fans will always find a reason to say why their bot deserved the win when it loses.
If I got it right, the blade has been changed to aluminium, with only the impact areas covered with hardened steel. Interestingly, now the energy stored in the blade´s rotation is even greater, and it is so mostly in the heavy tips. Can´t wait to watch future matches!

It looks like Tombstone took out its own wheel with the detached blade. I can't see any other explanation for how the wheel detached like that.

toombstones blade is way too hard, does damage but super brittle, should use a more ductile steel for the body of it and just harden the tips
