A perfect amalgam of oratory and dance! Being a dancer myself I would love to do something similar to your work , maam.

Thanks Swati. I’m blessed that I got my training in theatre when in a day school in London (for two years as an adolescent). I also got voice lessons from my piano teacher’s friend. And THEN I did English Literature for my BA & write my own scripts. You should do this in your own language.

Its quite sad that your work hasnt gotten the recognition it deserves , ma'am ! I
On a side note I think it would be so much more atmospheric if you could try switch the camisole for a bandeau top or a piece of rectangular cloth tied together in a knot at the back ( the kind that we see in period dramas and mythological serials ).

DEar Swati, this danced story was part of an evening called TAPASYA: Ascetic power & Tales of the Ganges. We were 4 pople in a small theatgre ewith hardly any time to change, so IO had us all wear saris and then only change the colour of the top. Since it had to go over th sari I could not use a leotard. Also this was in New York City where we don’t have the sensibilities of people in India. sorry it it offended you. \

PS. When Dr Sunil Kothari showed some photographs of this production during a talk he gave round the country, he told me that inCalcutta a lot of people had felt the camisole inappropriate. IN Ahmedabad, where the film of the production was show, on the other hand people loved it!
