    I was never able to quit coffee - even though I did quit smoking - until I went on the carnivore diet.
    Quitting all the junk food is actually EASY on this diet because every meal you take, you actually feel better - this keeps you coming back for more...
    It's truly amazing!

    After doing a 72 hour fast, I realized that in the past when I thought I was hungry, I wasn't actually hungry. Most people get on a regular schedule, or a routine of eating, and the body gets used to it. So, when lunchtime at work rolls around, your brain and your belly expect to get fed. I have done several weekend fasts now and it has helped me disconnect my gut from my brain and the clock.

      100% agree, fasting really helps you get in tune with your true hunger and not just the brains idea of its time to eat because it's whatever time you normally eat.

      I fasted for so many years that I don’t even try to fast my body is just built in not wanting to eat till 3 o’clock and I disagree with her saying about under eating I don’t think anybody’s under eating unless they’re trying to diet . 9 out of 10 times when people think they’re hungry they’re not hungry Their bodies are just used to being a fat lazy slobs.

    Once upon a time, in a small village nestled in a dark forest, there lived a witch with a peculiar plan. She didn’t need cauldrons of potions or curses to control the townspeople-she had something far more cunning in mind. One day, she lured the village children into her gingerbread house, not to fatten them up like the old stories said, but to put them on strict vegan diets.
    At first, the children were enchanted by the colorful plates of salads, beans, and smoothies, and they ate happily, believing they were becoming stronger. But over time, something strange began to happen. The boys grew weak and tired, and the girls experienced terrible cramps, becoming confused about their bodies. The witch cackled in secret, knowing the children’s diets were causing a terrible imbalance-what the village didn’t know was that her vegan spell was stripping away their vital nutrients, robbing them of their strength and stability.
    The lack of essential fats, proteins, and bioavailable nutrients soon led to chaos. The children developed strange symptoms-what the wise elder called "gender dysmenorrhoea." Their bodies couldn’t tell whether they were strong or weak, boy or girl, healthy or frail. They wandered the village in confusion, unable to make sense of what was happening inside them.
    One day, a wandering hunter stumbled upon the scene and saw the pale, confused children. He fed them hearty meals of meat, eggs, and butter. Slowly, they regained their strength, their minds cleared, and balance was restored. The hunter confronted the witch, breaking her spell with the truth that no plant-based trickery could defeat the nourishment of real food.
    As the witch fled into the forest, defeated, the village returned to its roots-nourishing their children with the strength of the earth, and never again trusting the colorful, empty promises of the vegan witch.

    I went carnivore (not full thought about 3 years ago and that took care of my truly horrible gut issues that no doctor had been able to resolve. It felt like a miracle to me and continues to. I'm not super strict; I do eat some veggies sometimes and some fruit, but always away from the meat. I laughed when you said you love eating fatty hamburger because I do too and was lucky enough to find a small local supermarket in my city that sells the fattier ground beef. I just chop onion into fine pieces and add that to the raw burger along with one or two eggs (depending on how much meat) and I am SO happy with it! Like you also, I was born unable to digest milk - although oddly I CAN have a litt\le heavy cream. I'm going to try your tomato sauce idea soon too. Thanks for posting about this xo

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We sound so similar! I am glad to hear that carnivore helped heal your gut issues. Did you have troubles incorporating foods back in after doing carnivore? It's been hard for me and a very slow process, but things are getting better. I wanted to add some things back in and I tend to do well with low carb fruits. I too used to always add onion to my ground beef but have stopped it a couple months ago since I started cooking my beef in the oven! You might want to try this sometime - 350 degrees - cookie sheet pain with foil on it- then you break up the ground beef into pieces and season it. Every 12 minutes you can check on it and move it around. After about 20ish minutes, I break the meat up more with a spatula and it's always done within 30 minutes. The longer you leave it, the more crispy the edges become. It tastes like the crispy edges of a burger you made on the grill. So I've been making it this way for a couple months now and loving it - making 2 lbs at the same time on two pans. That is so interesting you can have some heavy cream! My son used to be lactose intolerant too and he does have some issues with certain types of dairy but does well with heavy cream too!

    Been wandering around in a bit of confusion between plant-based diet [NOT Vegan] and Carnivore [Merits have been affirmed by Dr K Berry, Dr. S Baker, etc. plus Jordan Peterson and family].
    You have given some salient points that quite resonate with me. Straight carnivore is hard for me - the few veggies you mentioned and the stuffed pepper idea appeals to me. And I agree with you on coffee - for different reasons. Coffee is extolled as some sort of health elixir - and maybe it is for many people. But not me. I might not go totally off it - perhaps a MacD coffee once a week with friends. My substitue go-to will likely be green tea. Three points you mentioned might inform me better: 1] Up/ the meat/egg intake 2] Don't go TOO lean 3] was coffee/black tea also upping my hunger and cravings ?[we know starch carbs do]. Very well presented. Not too long and on point.

      Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment. I appreciate it! I totally understand how difficult it can be for some people to do straight carnivore. There are a bunch of low carb fruits that can be added in - cucumbers, peppers, olives, avocado, etc. that can help. If you can have dairy, I am sure that would help a lot too.

    Maybe I'm an outlier, but hunger has absolutely never been an issue for me during my 1.5 years on the carnivore diet. As long as you don't branch off and start making what I consider to be cheat meals, like "carnivore lasagna", "carnivore pizza, pancakes etc", I can't imagine you'd be constantly hungry for protein dense, animal food.

      @@LifeDIY Ideally, I'd prefer to be somewhere in the middle. Not hungry all of the time, but not completely satiated for the day by after eating 2-3 steaks either 😅 If I swap out meat for carbs, I can typically eat for 3-4 people.
      And I used to do that without gaining weight. I seem to have exceptionally high metabolism. But the carnivore diet made me realize how I had become accustomed to having unpredictable digestion and feeling comparatively crappy from the moment I woke up, to the moment I went to bed. I thought that was normal throughout my 20s.

    Came across your channel and appreciate your balanced feedback. My wife and I tried Adkins in the 90's (4 years), tried keto in 00's (2 years) and have been trying carnivore. Watching and absorbing from all of the popular carnivore channels and have read a book or two. The best part of YT is that there are so many people posting their experiences. The common denominator from an outside observer is that this is so much like adkins and keto and those were a disaster for both of us. We just could not sustain either long term. Same story as many of the carnivores posting on YT. Lose a ton of weight really fast, keep it up for months or even a few years in some cases, and then ultimately hit burnout similar to the other elimination diets.
    I was most curious about carnivore because it seems to eliminate a bit less than the others but in the end, you either end up adding in some variety with an array of carnivore clone foods, dairy, some highly limited carbs or god forbid you succumb to cheat meals which appears to be a disaster for those that have been hardcore carnivore due to the fact that your body has little to no capability to process carbs or sugar anymore, your stomach has expanded to the same capacity as a lion and it packs on water and fat like it's trying to save itself from an imminent disaster.
    Ultimately after some time on carnivore we have both reached the conclusion that we are going to focus on an elimination diet but one that sticks with whole foods, focuses in on still getting a solid amount of protein each day, still maintain some fasting by eating two high protein low carb, low or no sugar meals and just be ok that we are not 1% body fat. Our blood work and numbers are great but I should state they were great prior to starting carnivore primarily because we are active and have been walking 7 miles every day for the last 2 years. Neither of us are on any medications.
    Long story short, I really appreciate channels like this that speak to the realities of strict elimination diets like carnivore and the real challenges people can and most likely will face when embarking on such a journey. I get it. Many of the channels are people with serious weight and associated health challenges. They need to take drastic action to make drastically needed changes and I do think carnivore, at least in the short term is a better option than drugs or surgery. I will keep watching your channel and again, keep posting your balanced feedback and real life experience. My wife and I appreciate it.

    One thing I think people don’t realize is that in OMAD it’s very difficult to get in all your daily protein needs in just that one meal, this will lead to under eating and not getting the nutrients needed and then people end up blaming that carnivore did not work. Plus being hungry or feeling off can be a result of not eating a variety of meats and seafood. While the Lion Diet is perfect for healing and yes some thrive on it long term but it can be very hard on the system not getting the full spectrum of things in other cuts of meat and seafoods.

    • @LifeDIY

      Thanks for sharing this! This is such a good point. I don't know how people do it, honestly. But, some people say they really thrive on one meal a day and enjoy eating that way. It just doesn't work for me. Also, once you lose any weight you're going to lose, a lot of your energy and all your nourishment is coming from that food you're eating. I need to have that more than once a day to function properly. You're right that having a variety can really help.

    "Monotonous" was how I felt when I was on the Atkins diet. The first thing I missed was my curries, and I cook a mean one, even if I do say so myself. ;) A nutritional /calorie counting App helped me lose weight, and eat healthier. For example, I used to eat somewhere between three to five bowls a night of mixed nuts a night...I soon learnt with the App, that I was using up to about three days worth of calories! I cut that down to one and the weight fell off me. Calorie counting often gets a bad rap, but the App educated me a lot.

      Yeah that is understandable, Joe. I remember Atkins and people constantly eating those Atkins chocolate bars and snacks - that cause horrible stomach issues. How long did you do Atkins for? That's awesome you like to make curries. I used to make them all the time as they were my son's favorite. I made one a couple months ago, after not making it in years. I love the flavors. I also totally understand eating bags and bags of nuts. I've done the same in the past. That's the only thing I need to be careful with when buying because I still eat way too many. If you ever want some good pistachios - the Setton Farms organic pistachios on Amazon are the BEST. That's good the app helped you figure out what's going on with your diet. I know a lot of people use apps for that and find it helpful. Sorry the egg video clip was not my own :). But, I recently bought some truffle salt. Have you ever tried that? I honestly don't like it yet, but my son loves it and puts it on everything.

      @LifeDIY  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I totally agree! It's nice to hear from someone else who has experienced this. I think many of us our in the habit of drinking coffee in the morning and if you've done keto before, many people are also in the habit of trying to get their fats into that one drink (instead of eating). It seems logical that if your body is truly very hungry, you shouldn't avoid that by giving it coffee (increasing stress hormones) and throwing in some cream. So, I didn't realize that it was masking the real hunger I already had and just amplifying that later when the coffee would ware off. I think people should just eat when they are truly hungry.

I receive comments all the time with people dealing with the same issue, even when eating quite a lot and eating plenty of fats. My doctor did a lot of testing and I am very low insulin (2.8), the lowest c-peptide possible and leptin was out of the reference range low. I agree with you that carnivore is an elimination diet and that's why after a time period, you can start incorporating foods back in. If you aren't careful and you stay in carnivore for too long (when your intention was to do an elimination diet) it can become very difficult to eat and digest things easily like you used to. This has happened to me. It's a very slow process to add things back in.

      @gingebrien2408 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LifeDIY I have been a carnivore advocate as a physician for 5 years. Your complaint is the first I’ve come across, “I’m starving.” In my medical practice the people who practice portion control naturally have the most difficulty switching to a Carnivore strict diet. One should eat until they are pleasantly stuffed. Meaning, that you just can’t put another piece in your mouth. Those with deep seated portion control have a mental switch they have a hard time to go beyond for success. The second group are those that believe eating is an amusement park of dopamine fixes and don’t understand the term elimination diet. I except that you say you were starving. From your talk I could not elicit why. You are correct that carnivore diet on its face is not ketogenic & most make the initial mistake of going low to zero carb and high protein. This will make you sick and keep your insulin high & on the sugar roller coaster. It should be high fat moderate protein. This is something that as one eats intuitively corrects or I explain after they get with the program. Note an average steak is two proteins to one fat give or take. Thus one needs to add more fat to their diet to get the ratio right. I prefer a two or three to one ratio of fat to protein. Higher fat is definitely better for women. If your stools are hard or difficult it is because you’re not eating enough fat. One does not need Fiber ( sugar) to move their bowels & one does not need to drink 8 glasses a day to keep hydrated. In fact over drinking will cause electrolyte deficiency. Read “Water Logged,” by Dr. Tim Noakes. Anyways thanks for the reply you taught me something that I truly never heard of in someone doing a Carnivore Diet. The proper human diet as Dr. Berry would say. 😁Dr. Ginge

      @@LifeDIY oops . Hold the press. Low C-peptide equates to low insulin . The C-peptide has to be cleaved in order to have an active insulin molecule. So in a fat adapted individual this is not concerning. What was your glucose level & did you have ketones?

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gingebrien2408 Thanks! Interesting... I do believe I am very fat adapted and almost always in ketosis, even if I try to get out - I get back in it super fast. I tried getting out of it recently because I wanted to know if it would help my sleep, but I was still in ketosis. I test this stuff regularly, because I am dealing with sleep issues since doing carnivore and I am trying everything to fix it (waking up at 3 AM). Today I tested my glucose at 3:30 AM (woke up at 2:30) and it was 82. The ketones are often 1.5-1.9 ...though lower at times if adding in carbs here and there. Sometimes my morning glucose is a lot higher and when I had labs done with my doctor, it was around 95 (it used to be lower than that). Even if I have carbs somtimes, it often has no impact and I stay in ketosis. Although certain carbs have a massive effect - ie: potatoes - that cause high glucose and then it seems to stay elevated for days after. I've done some experiments and that has happened a handful of times. All other times, the ketones stay pretty high even if I have some carbs added in (just depends on on what the item is that I am eating). Also when it comes to hunger issues, I used to have severe problems with it. I am now totally fine during the day, but when I wake up at 3 AM, I am sometimes (like today) deeply starving - truly very hungry. I've heard it's not good to eat right before bed, so I try to stop a few hours before sleeping. Sorry for the long comment but any input or advice or opinions you have are greatly appreciated. I actually have an appointment with a functional doctor in an hour, but so far her only recommendation was to add in some carbs.

    No one starves on Carnivore as per the click bait,
    I was worried when I started but found the usual post meal snack time crunches missing, and the carb cravings. Every carb converts to sugar is my mantra.
    I will always revert back to sardines to smack carb cravings on the head, and try to replicate the protein fat ratio of any thing i eat at 7 to 16.
    Eventually my body tuned in to the fact that it did not need spec8fic times to eat, or the same amount, ie sedentary days vs physical days.
    For a excellent sleep i take grass fed beef collagen prior to bed.
    Although my body weight dropped over 35 pounds it seems to of settled about 10 pounds above the governments recommended ideal bmi body weight, not sarcopenic like a vegan, not striated like a pre contest bodybuilder, no love handles over my belt but still have some fat around them

I don't wanna hate or shame and I am sure that this diet works for some, but overall I'm pretty confident saying that a balanced diet can do you even more good and science says so too. Just stay away from sugar and processed food and aim at eating only lean proteins, veggies ("eat the rainbow"), healthy fats (eg olive oil) and some whole grains/legumes (quinoa, lentils ecc). cheers

      I understand your perspective. So, thank you for your honest comment. I'll share some of my perspective on it.
      It's a lot more complicated than this. Many people don't trust any recommendations on health anymore due to some things that happened in 2019, and due to incorrect guidance and recommendations given to us for decades. Remember the food pyramid? There was a time when we were told that eating wonder bread 10+ slices a day was a way to lose weight and get your nutrients. We've been fed a lot of lies for many years and it's all driven by profit.
      Even recommending that people eat a lot of fruits and veggies is becoming controversial because our fruits and veggies are sprayed heavily with pesticides which have a lot of negative health consequences. I plan to have a garden next summer so I can grow some of my own foods. Otherwise I try to buy organic whenever possible. You never know what you're getting though.
      We live in a society that is very unhealthy. Many people are dealing with chronic health conditions, so some of them are trying this as an elimination diet. I was curious about it myself and wanted to see what the experience would be, in doing this as an elimination diet. It taught me a lot and I have gained some healthier habits from it.
      I don't believe that everyone needs to do this.
      You can have incredible health results from small changes. I think people can massively benefit from cutting out things like gluten and cutting down on sugar & other inflammatory foods and toxic seed oils.
      Unfortunately a lot of people are obese due to food addiction issues. I never knew much about this until learning more from this carnivore community online. It seems to be a major issue for a lot of people. I think that for those people, carnivore is ideal. In a perfect world, they'd learn healthier ways to cope and could later add foods back in... and hopefully that happens. For some people, this has saved their life and health. Check out Bill Nott from Alaska - he was 700 lbs and lost hundreds and is doing much better one year later. Sometimes people just need a radical change in their life to reset and get themselves on track with healthier habits.

      @@LifeDIY I agree with you on many points, especially about the benefits of an elimination diet and how going carnivore can be better than a diet heavy in simple carbohydrates. It’s a powerful way to reset the body and can certainly help people discover what works best for them. However, I would recommend focusing on organic, grass-fed meat for those who choose the carnivore path to ensure they’re consuming higher-quality, nutrient-dense foods.
      That being said, I also believe that nutrition and health are incredibly personal, and it’s unrealistic to expect a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Each person’s body reacts differently, and finding the right balance is key. I completely understand the loss of trust in peer-reviewed science, especially given the mistakes of the past, but I still believe that most nutritionists and experts are striving to improve and correct these errors. In that context, it’s hard for me to believe that a balanced diet rich in whole, organic foods could ever be harmful.
      As for weight loss, if the carnivore diet works for some, I’m genuinely happy for them. It’s important to support any approach that helps people regain control over their health, and for some, carnivore may indeed be that radical change they need to get back on track.
      Thank you for the nice exchange of opinions and the great content.

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      100% agree that nutrition is super personal and there is absolutely no one-size fits all. I could not agree more. I think many influencers talking about carnivore often make it seem like it is a one-size fits all, cure all for everything. I hear the same with veganism.
      I wish we could have more balance. And, I wish our food quality was better. I do think it's ideal if you can get local high quality meat and better produce too. I personally really like to incorporate more foods in like you mentioned in the other comment, but it's a slow process for me.
      I hope you're right about experts striving to get accurate information out there. It's quite tough when there are so many influencing factors with the studies. And, some studies are just poorly done. But, I still try to have an open mind.
      I also agree about supporting people with their health. :) Than you also for sharing your honest thoughts. :) It is refreshing.

      With all due respect, the science that you refer to hasn't done the world any favors 😅 Not only are actual biochemists in disagreement regarding what's being confidently claimed to the public regarding nutritional optimality, but both cancer and heart issues have never been more relevant despite the rise of vegetarianism and veganism over the past few decades.
      Both cancer and heart disease were incredibly rare during the early 1900s and beyond. And we now live in a time where "eating the rainbow" is not only the most accessible it's ever been, Instagram friendly, and socially promoted, but also a relatively modern phenomenon in human history that I really can't tell if it leads to the long-term health outcomes that it's being promoted for.
      I live in Scandinavia, and I think we have a lot of good things going for us in terms of health and lifestyle that aren't necessarily related to our diets, but our dietary guidelines are heavily plant based. I've never been vegan, but I ate almost exclusively plant based during my 20s (I recently turned 36), and despite some trivial health issues, I thought I felt pretty good.
      I don't want to indulge in dietary tribe wars on the internet, but if the carnivore diet has taught me anything, it's that people get complacent with what they eat, and when they experience issues with their mood, energy levels or minor health issues, like dry eyes or less than optimal sleep that may be related to what they eat, they convince themselves that it's normal or age related. And that's the mindset that I would've still had if I had continued to eat plant based.

    • @DillaryHuff
      @DillaryHuff 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@LifeDIY I definitely agree with both of you regarding the common suggestion in the hardcore dietary tribes that "one size fits all", it's not true. We're all genetically different, and one way of eating that has profoundly positive impact on one person, could be detrimental to the health of another. That said, that statement also contradicts CF8476's previous suggestion that one should eat balanced, the color of the rainbow, various vegetables, nuts and seeds.
      I used to eat like that, albeit, with some processed foods sprinkled into the diet. It seemed like a good idea when I was just going with the flow and doing what I thought was "best for everyone's health". I've never struggled with weight or had any notable health issues in my life, other than dry and irritated eyes and a mild allergy to birch.
      Excluding vegetables and limiting my intake of dairy taught me that I feel a lot better when I don't consume it on regular basis. And I wish that wasn't the case. I never ate plant based in order to take an ethical stance.
      There is a significant dopamine-inducing effect related to the aesthetic quality of plant foods, and there's plenty of carbs in it as well, so I enjoyed eating that way on a very self-indulging, superficial level.
      But it wasn't until I impulsively decided to see if I could get rid of my allergy by doing the carnivore diet for 1-2 months, that I discovered how incredibly impactful food really is on our overall health.
      I'm never going to claim that a certain way of eating works for everyone, but I do think everyone may benefit from doing an elimination diet once in their lifetime. Unfortunately, it's not very convenient to do so, as the impact of a diet change may not fully kick in until a month of sustained change. Short-term effects of a diet can also be quite misleading, and I think that applies to both veganism and carnivore- ways of eating. A wise woman once said "ain't no one got time for dat" 😅
