With this size of the engine, you can easily extract 10-15kw depending on the operating RPM. solely want to have this engine for teaching students to understand a gas turbine operation/ theory as an educational engine. The propeller is not a pusher. But the system of esaustão is with the inverted position. from the viewpoint of the propeller side, the observer can verify that the propeller rotates counterclockwise, identical to a common model airplane, but the wind force does not swing the engineer's shirt.

I was looking exactly for this idea. What's the power and thrust compared to the turbojet alone? Does it run without overheating the turbine? How long would it run safely? Is this setup more fuel efficient than a piston engine? I know, lots of questions, but I'd like to start experimenting myself. Thanks for posting this video!
The core gas generator produces about 8kg of thrust with this configuration with a free power turbine and proper gear reduction you can easily get 25-30kg in static thrust nevertheless, with turbojet alone, you get less static thrust but at a much higher dynamic hence your aircraft will fly faster.

As someone who refueled aircraft for 12 years with 10 in the USAF, I have only have one question, why in the world do you have your fuel container 15" from that motor and exhaust? Not a smart move, spend a buck for a few more feet of hose and move that farther away

Carl Andrews ...Thank you for your concern...However...You will be amazed on once we put a turbojet engine inside the aircraft.The fuel tank is about an inch away from the engine...This is the first test run of this turboprop engine in term of turbine builder there is always some elation and exciting to see their engine running for the first time event hough thousands of engine had been built including me no exception! FYI: This engine was designed as a turboshaft and the output shaft only have 3,000rpm max.We were running the engine at idle rpm the prop clocked at some what lower than 1,000rpm and thrust less than 2kg when it was running. This engine was running with heavy fuel "Diesel" fuel not JP4. If you are the expert then you should know the flash point of this heavy fuel.

My dad always told me not to stand infront of spinning heavy equipment or fast moving objects. I've had a few mistakes where I've used baggy clothes with machinery and have a few close shaves. I've always been aware of the dangers but always considered myself skills enough to not get caught out. I never did but I don't gamble or risk no more it's stupid. Safety comes first as always. If you can't do things safely I don't recommend doing anything since its that easy to have an accident. Took me 27 years to realise that.

Yo guys, that gas turbine is awesome. Yet, please believe me, if you don't start wearing earplugs or hearing protection, you won't be able to hear anything except that engine... *all the time 24/7 as long as you are awake.* Earplugs are cheap.

It looks like it's a test propeller - it has no pitch therefore it doesn't make thrust. Usually test propellers are smaller and have hammer-shaped ends (and some pitch to cool the motor but not the large, rotating blade)
I Am Not Claiming I am an aviation engineer or that I know much at all about these things, but is that propeller supposed to flex like that?? While standing behind it, the prop is spinning clockwise (from Left to Right) and, if I'm not mistaken, the way the prop LOOKS like it's shaped it's running backwards and pushing the air forwards away from the guys and the engine, and making it flex like that.
Corey Shier it is the prop moving faster then the cameras frame rate. The camera can only take so many pictures per second and as result the prop appears to be in two places at once and the reversal is caused by the RPMs hitting a power of the frame rate.
It actually is moving faster than our brain can recollect not just the camera. It's like looking at a car rim when it's speeding up after a certain speed it looks like it's going backwards.

Yes, if you work hard enough you can build it at home, my first turbojet engine was built about 25 years ago and I made it from old car turbocharger parts and most of the component parts are made from stainless steel kitchenware. engine running good and I had some flight with it in my RC jet plane. It was quite a fun project for me to build a turbojet engine by myself though. I still have that engine maybe when I have the time I will make VDO and strip down the engine to show you how the engine component that I made from stainless steel kitchenware looks alike. The intention for this engine is to drive a generator to produce electricity power and will use for instruction media purpose. In the video was at the very preliminary stage engine ran at only idle(prop rpm about 1000rpm) just to prove that my design is ok and to find out whether the engine will get self-sustain running.

Engine was designed for driving an electric gennerator @ 3,000rpm output shaft max. Thrust is not important for this engine here as much as torque. Hope this help.

Very nice and compact, but the prop is on backwards if it's a tractor, or spinning the wrong way it it's a pusher.
All turboprops have the exhaust flowing backwards, to add thrust. This video is all wrong.

Yes, if you work hard enough you can build it at home, my first turbojet engine was built about 25 years ago and I made it from old car turbocharger parts and most of the component parts are made from stainless steel kitchenware. engine running good and I had some flight with it in my RC jet plane. It was quite a fun project for me to build a turbojet engine by myself though. I still have that engine maybe when I have the time I will make VDO and strip down the engine to show you how the engine component that I made from stainless steel kitchenware looks alike. The intention for this engine is to drive a generator to produce electricity power and will use for instruction media purpose. In the video was at the very preliminary stage engine ran at only idle(prop rpm about 1000rpm) just to prove that my design is ok and to find out whether the engine will get self-sustain running.

Wonderful project but i dont understand why arent getting the air thrust generated by the propeller. why theres no air thrust?
Thank for the comment. This video was at the very preliminary test run and engine only at idle RPM. I was so excitting to see my engine self sustaining.! BTW. Engine was designed for driving an electric gennerator @ 3,000rpm output shaft max. Thrust is not important for this engine here as much as torque. Hope this help.
