@@unrealharry --Andy Gibb was their youngest brother who had a solo career. Sadly, he died at the age of thirty. Here's a link with more information: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Gibb#Death
If there's one thing that Barry Gibb and his brothers have really left us, its a whole load of songs that are really great to sing along to. Brilliant song writers, brilliant singers, and seemingly very nice guys.
May be the most perfectly crafted song in their impressive catalog. I remember they were persona non grata on Top 40 radio when this song was released due to the disco backlash : but all those DJ’s and music critics have long since been forgotten....and The Bee Gees live on! 55 million views!!
Bee Gees change sound to what's popular in 70s = RAGE Bee Bees change sound to what's popular in 80s - Oh COOL To be fair, I vastly prefer their original 60s sound. And while I hardly hate it, I wish they hadn't changed to disco. But there are a LOT worse genres than disco, and I'd far rather hear disco than most of the modern pop/dubstep/electronica related crap now, any day.
Except the U.S. is not the only place in the world and this song was a huge, huge hit in the U.K. where it was a #1 smash and remained in the #1 position for four weeks in September 1987.. It hit #1 in Ireland Austria, Switzerland, Norway and West Germany (that was pre-unification). It remains one of The Bee Gees most important songs because it represented a milestone in their career when it reached number one. They became the first act in UK chart history to have at least one number 1 single in each of three decades, the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. It’s a brilliant pop record which has managed to sound contemporary almost 35 years after it was initially released in 1987.
Yeah, it seemed to come out of nowhere in 1987 and just blew the charts apart. Went to #1 in the UK very quickly. It was almost weird, because for several years the name Bee Gees had become a bit of a joke (despite them continuing to write amazing hits for other artists), but this changed everything.
I love the fact that at the time this came out, the Bee Gees were considered just about the most unfashionable band in the world because of their association with disco. And then they pulled this fantastic song out of the bag. It was a real 'punch the air' moment even if, like me, you weren't a fan of them before.
The entire time they went thru that, it was still their songs and music playing on the radio, winning awards and hearts of the world. These brothers have done more for music than anyone. The saying with big time singers is,' if you haven't gotten to do a Barry Gibb song yet, you haven't made it yet.'
Yes, it is ironic how they always bounced back after being called has beens. And how wonderful they were in the music business for over 45-50 years reinvented. I have always liked the BeeGees. They were my favorites as a child on through now.
The Bee Gees have compiled some excellent music in their time - You Win Again - is possibly the best one they have made, one way or another, everyone who listens to it on TH-cam or otherwise is going to use the rewind button once it has finished : guaranteed!.
This is pure perfection...the rhythm, the beat, the vocals(main and backing) ...their best song...let alone this was just a comeback song after many years...
The most talented musicians in history. No need for gimmicks. Look at the lyrics and please explain how they harmonise such complex and long lyrics. Unbelievable. Prince, Mozart and a few others are only fit for comparisons. They make the Beetles look like amatuers. A truly class act indeed. Classy and professional. People must appreciate this raw talent and pure musical genius.....
A band for all seasons, and what sets them apart from other bands is their ability to write almost anything from pop, disco, rock, reggae, country and folk music, incredible talent !
@herman... that's why they were called the 'Chameleons' of vocal music. They adapt to the musical environment of the day. When they released the SNF soundtrack, they actually let loose Rock songs that you can dance to!😊 When they released Too Much Heaven - a pop chart-topping celestial airy ballad, as a single - the B side was Rest Your Love On Me - a beautiful country song!😳 You tell me!...
Taught this song to my daughter when she as little. Ten years later we’re in a restaurant with her teenage friends and they played this song. She looks over at me & we start singing the harmony & her friends couldn’t figure out how she knew this song they had never heard. What fun! Thanks Brothers Gibb!
This isn't my generation, but it blows my mind just how much better these old 80s pop songs are compared to today. It doesn't make any sense either. We have vastly superior music production techniques, yet all we seem to be capable of producing is dreary mumble rap music and awful autotuned generic EDM. This song is amazing, and I wish I was born 50 years ago so that this was my future. I've been reading up on 80s history and people back then were complaining about synthesizers and drum machines not being real music. They didn't know they even lived compared to today. Mid 80s was definitely when the synth pop sound was well established, but I'm also a fan of the early 80s, i.e. Depeche mode, Ultravox. My absolute favourite years are 1983 - 1984
Your music has truly got me through the highest and lowest points in my life, I'm not very good with words to express myself, but I can say thank you from the bottom of my heart for being able to listen to yours
@@renaldolukas1599 They sure knew how to reinvent themselves and their late 80s songs and production felt highly contemporary! My favourite Bee Gees era is 1967-1972 but truthfully, I like all their different musical guises!
All four BG had beautiful bodies, faces, voices and…Barry was so faithful to his wife all these years…loves his family. His dad and mom were great examples.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤️
I was born in 1999, and I am Korean. Although different language and time, I can feel this music. 1970~80s music is amazing! And I love Bee Gees so much.... It's too sad that I cannot see Maurice and Robin anymore... Also Andy... I'm so envious of people who were alive in 1970~80s....
I was born in 1949 and lived all though the 1960's/70's/80's/90's/00's and yes the Bee Gees - Made some brilliant music - Here - Here I say to your comments - So pleased you like also - you live all that way for UK and we can share the comments about the music we love .. Best wishes for the UK my friend ...
I can't resist adding this....there are many one hit wonders, and some 25 hit wonders, but to put together a compilation of hits that the Bee Gees did over 5 decades, constantly adapting to changes in the music industry, to break the anti- disco barrier, takes intense insight, genius, and magical songwriting, singing, and phenomenal God given skills to set them apart, way apart, from the field. The sheer mastery of their craft is analogous to Secretariat with the triple crown in 1973, especially the Belmont stakes... God's handiwork in action.... heavenly!!!
Sir Barry Gibb.... His contribution to the music industry over 50 plus years is outstanding. It will be an emotional day for him when gets his Knighthood. As his brothers won't be there....
Aprendí a escucharlos siendo más grande, hoy son mis favoritos, canciones que las escucho una y otra vez. Lamento no haberlos visto cuando estuvieron en Buenos Aires
Just had this as the music as we walked mum into the crem for her funeral. She loved the bee gees and to be fair we couldn't have staying alive! She was 92, and loved this. Rip mum xx
Your mother lived a long life. I just turned 70 and the music from that time period was so good. I play this everyday . 92, what a long life she had, I send grandma hugs to you. I’m a grandma and I think your mum sounds like a wonderful lady. 😊
I once got close with and fell in love with a widow. Despite how much she claimed to love me, I knew that she wasn’t done grieving and I’d never amount to or be good enough for her to replace her dead husband and father of her kids, no matter how much she told me this wasn’t the case. I had too much of my own trauma to believe her. This song reminds me of when I accepted the painful reality. I still think of her and wish I didn’t meet the right person at the wrong time.
Going to basketball games as a 7 year old, older brother 9, dad mid 30s and still playing basketball games somewhat pro level. He was in the national team and playing for Fribourg Olympic, top team for decades in Switzerland. They played this during warm up pre-games. Everytime i randomly hear this on radio it warps me back in time. Love how music ( and smells) can transport you into memories instantly. Fresh cut grass in the summer, or how the air smells on a hot summer day when the rain starts...
This is a fantastic song in the way that couples need to get along. We don't fight. You win again. That is such a perfect thought for loved ones to work things out. Love it!
Haha, me too right now, trying not to sing too loud with earphones on 🤣 The 80's is my happy time, life was so different and happy then, my close little family altogether. Enjoy 😊
I was raised with and they became a part of our lives...our generation is devistated at Maurice and Robins passing it's like a piece of our life is gone as well. thankfully we have you tube now so we can revisit them...such a part of you we were and are
People used to say the same about the sixties pokeman3652 it's called life. Never appreciated this band when they were having hits, now just on a journey of discovery
This was played on the radio while I was driving this morning.... Instantly my mood was lifted...Thank you Bee Gees.Still up there with being one of the best songs ever.
This song takes me to another dimension. It thumps through my brain and fills my loins leaving me just addicted and pressing the repeat button. Music is the best drug ever.
Criminal that this wasn't promoted well in the States - should have been a big hit there like everywhere else. Barry Gibb is up there with Paul McCartney and Jeff Lynne...
What can I say?? I'm an Aussie, and proud of it. The BeeGee's were /are unbelievable...... Love them. And I'll be following them forever xxxx Thanks for the brilliant music guys!!!!
I'm glad you're proud of being an "Aussie" but a trying to work out why you put it underneath this song. Is it because the Bee Gees are British and you're in the British Commonwealth.
@@chriscanyon4910 It's because the Bee Gees emigrated from the UK to Australia when they were very young. They took on the name Bee Gees in Australia and performed in live venues and on every possible Australian TV programme. They only left Australia about 10 years later because there was nothing in a developing music country that they hadn't done. They had their first No. 1 hit in Australia - Spicks and Specks. They had settled in Redcliffe Queensland before moving to Sydney. If you google, you'll find a statue of them when they were very young in Redcliffe. Standing with the statue at the unveiling is Barry Gibb.
Have been the hugest Bee Gees fan since their first appearance on Australian television back in 1960... I have always adored the lads and from the age of eight I saw their future of making it huge across the globe, to have witnessed it take shape over those years has been something I would not have missed.... Sadly we have lost Andy, Maurice and Robin far to soon but their music lives on as their legacy of what they felt so patiently about, music and entertaining their fans over the years.... Barry is now the only one of the lads still living and to this day carries on the Bee Gees tradition of entertaining fans across the globe.... Thank you Barry for giving so much to your fans who appreciate your dedication, most of all your love to those who have meant so much to you, your brothers.... I WANT TO WISH BARRY A VERY HAPPY 70TH BIRTHDAY TODAY.... ALL THE VERY BEST AND MAY YOU KEEP GOING STRONG AND FOR A LOT OF YEARS TO COME.... LOVE YOU... REST IN ETERNAL PEACE ANDY, MAURICE AND ROBIN !!!! REMEMBERED FOREVER.

God doesn’t exist. You’ve been lied to your entire life and the sooner you banish that lie from your life the sooner you’ll be free to think for yourself.
There are certain singers and songwriters that come along every once in a while that are simply never duplicated or matched. IMO, the Bee Gees are one of the group.
Great Lord! That's music. Wonderful lyrics, amazing amalgamated voices, unique feelings. This is what music should be about. Thanks God I was a teenager in the 80's! I didn't miss the best time with my energies intact. Live forever Bee Gees!
I don't remember hearing this song years ago, but I LOVE it, and can't get enough of it. The BeeGees had more talent, vocal gifts and songwriting skills than many who were even more popular than them. It's so tragic that Maurice and Robin passed away so young. We've lost countless songs that they would have written and recorded. But, God bless Barry, who remains so gifted and still writing great songs. Long live Barry Gibb, and please God, keep him healthy and safe. We love him.
Just a kind of reminder : but, let's not forget about Andy Gibb, please. He was much younger than Robin or Maurice when he died. Such a great and talented family they were - and, still are, to this day. I will always love them and how they "displayed" or "performed" their many music genres. They'll always hold a special place in my heart !!! 🥰❣️😻❣️😍
@@geerterri Though I know Andy didn't sing that song, it doesn't mean he wouldn't have eventually sang it with them when Barry, Maurice, and, Robin were to have Andy join their group and tour with them. Unsure if you know how they had asked (or were going to ask) Andy to join them as one of the Bee Gees. But, Andy died a few weeks before he was to start touring with them. I forget exactly how many weeks it was, but, they said that in an interview I saw. 😉

Although we r not English speaking country
But I was also lucky like you...
If there's one thing that Barry Gibb and his brothers have really left us, its a whole load of songs that are really great to sing along to. Brilliant song writers, brilliant singers, and seemingly very nice guys.
4 decades of songs
May be the most perfectly crafted song in their impressive catalog. I remember they were persona non grata on Top 40 radio when this song was released due to the disco backlash : but all those DJ’s and music critics have long since been forgotten....and The Bee Gees live on! 55 million views!!
Bee Gees change sound to what's popular in 70s = RAGE
Bee Bees change sound to what's popular in 80s - Oh COOL
To be fair, I vastly prefer their original 60s sound.
A brilliant song indeed and my personal favorite of them.
Fu ch the haters. Long live the BEE GEES!!!!
It's crazy I am still a Bee Gees fan in 2024!!!
The saying with big time singers is,'
if you haven't gotten to do a Barry Gibb song yet, you haven't made it yet.'

Yes, it is ironic how they always bounced back after being called has beens. And how wonderful they were in the music business for over 45-50 years reinvented. I have always liked the BeeGees. They were my favorites as a child on through now.
Yup! Incremental it being played on the Juke box, over and over, all of a sudden they were 'in' again! Great band, all of their songs.. 👍👍👍🎧🎧🎧
*The year is currently 2022 and this song is still an absolute classic*
This song should be devoted to Man City

This would be in the top 20 Songs of the bee Gees, but you just cannot name one favorite song, they are all so wonderful!
2024 and still a winner with me
Better than what people produce on this days
The Bee Gees have compiled some excellent music in their time - You Win Again - is possibly the best one they have made, one way or another, everyone who listens to it on TH-cam or otherwise is going to use the rewind button once it has finished : guaranteed!.
Don't forget stayin alive that was a complete hit
You are so right. Amazing
yeah..exactly dude..
my absolute favourite always pressing the rewind button !!!
👍
This is pure perfection...the rhythm, the beat, the vocals(main and backing) ...their best song...let alone this was just a comeback song after many years...

Comeback after comeback! They kept reinventing. Up untill 1997. God bless
@@jeroengoubet never went away
the best of them, by far....
Pure DNA at it's BEST...
This is what 'pop music' was meant to be all about - magnificent music from one of the most underrated groups of all time - imo
I wore out my vinyl copy of this song. Thank goodness for You Tube. Thank you whoever downloaded it.
+Ebla Ali Prince?? lol ; they make the Beatles look like amateurs?? excellent trolling, man.

A band for all seasons, and what sets them apart from other bands is their ability to write almost anything from pop, disco, rock, reggae, country and folk music, incredible talent !
herman hobbit
And the volume of songs that were hits over many decades
@herman... that's why they were called the 'Chameleons' of vocal music. They adapt to the musical environment of the day. When they released the SNF soundtrack, they actually let loose Rock songs that you can dance to!😊
When they released Too Much Heaven - a pop chart-topping celestial airy ballad, as a single - the B side was Rest Your Love On Me - a beautiful country song!😳 You tell me!...
🥰
Taught this song to my daughter when she as little. Ten years later we’re in a restaurant with her teenage friends and they played this song. She looks over at me & we start singing the harmony & her friends couldn’t figure out how she knew this song they had never heard. What fun! Thanks Brothers Gibb!
lovely,i know what you mean and you feel this moment cause i have kids too, D.R.,peace from germany
@Ben Davison tf bro why u asking that
This isn't my generation, but it blows my mind just how much better these old 80s pop songs are compared to today. My absolute favourite years are 1983 - 1984
2021 is in 6 months. The world is different. But their music is not. Nothing can beat the good times. Who is with me?
I'm with you rock on
U cool
True indeed! Greetings from Uganda. Their music was a global phenom.

Your music has truly got me through the highest and lowest points in my life, I'm not very good with words to express myself, but I can say thank you from the bottom of my heart for being able to listen to yours
Probably one of the best bee gees songs of all time
It's not one of favourite Bee Gees songs either. Although a fine song, they had so many other gems that surpass You Win Again.
Each to his own wht made this so good to me was it was Brilliant song an it wasn't their usual style
@@renaldolukas1599 They sure knew how to reinvent themselves and their late 80s songs and production felt highly contemporary! My favourite Bee Gees era is 1967-1972 but truthfully, I like all their different musical guises!

Stimmt. Ich auf jeden Fall.
My friend, I was born in 1972 and I can tell you, having lived through both decades those were wonderful times to be alive.
🐝🐝🐝Gees forever W have got good music 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍
This has to be the catchiest chorus of any song I've ever heard. Once it gets in your head good luck getting it out.

Just had this as the music as we walked mum into the crem for her funeral. She loved the bee gees and to be fair we couldn't have staying alive!
She was 92, and loved this.
Rip mum xx
Sorry about your mum, but can't help admitting that this comment made me laugh!
Sorry for your loss...she had great taste. RIP
Your mother lived a long life. I just turned 70 and the music from that time period was so good. I play this everyday . 92, what a long life she had, I send grandma hugs to you. I’m a grandma and I think your mum sounds like a wonderful lady. 😊
And can there be more music like this please? People these days think we don't want music like this anymore but yes we do
I once got close with and fell in love with a widow.
Awwh bless you. I love this song but brings back painful memories also.
Always remember you win.x

Love it!
Love this song and I'm happily foot tapping along until 2:41 and then the song just shifts in to that higher gear and sounds even more awesome.
Haha, me too right now, trying not to sing too loud with earphones on 🤣 The 80's is my happy time, life was so different and happy then, my close little family altogether. Enjoy 😊
I wish I lived in the 80s for this kind of music, instead of the crap we have now
Heck yea that would be cool. From a Pokemon trainer to another.
We could have music as good as this now if we make it. That is your challenge, pokemon trainer, grab an instrument and start composing.
I was raised with and they became a part of our lives...our generation is devistated at Maurice and Robins passing it's like a piece of our life is gone as well. thankfully we have you tube now so we can revisit them...such a part of you we were and are

***** Today's 'popular' music is mostly, _objectively_, complete garbage.
This was played on the radio while I was driving this morning.... Instantly my mood was lifted...Thank you Bee Gees.Still up there with being one of the best songs ever.
The Bee Gees we’re one of the major forces in music. When they were not having hits of their own they were writing hits for someone else. Amazing. 👍👍
I bought this when it first came out n still love it. Its definitely in my top 10 favourite songs. Great song from a great band. R.I.P Robin n Maurice

This song takes me to another dimension. It thumps through my brain and fills my loins leaving me just addicted and pressing the repeat button. Music is the best drug ever.
What a great song. Thank you [Bee Gees] for your thoughtful songwriting and unmatched harmony. This is the best of the best.
Along with "tragedy" this is my favourite Bee Gees' song...and to think that it was a just a comeback single after a break of several years...man...
Criminal that this wasn't promoted well in the States - should have been a big hit there like everywhere else. Barry Gibb is up there with Paul McCartney and Jeff Lynne...
Stax Moon he’s above them
As a songwriter, possibly, As a singer definitely not. Horrid adenoidal squeals.
Not Barry Robin was the better one of the 3. As a songwriter singer and good looking.Hell of lot better than McCartney.
Better than Paul McCartney! 💁🏼♀️
I agree! Fantastic music. I wonder what Sir Paul and Sir Barry could do?
What can I say??

hi from Adelaide

It was for years our absolute favourite: A woman wins alone because of her abilities. ❤
LOVE YOU...

There are certain singers and songwriters that come along every once in a while that are simply never duplicated or matched. IMO, the Bee Gees are one of the group.

Sadly, two of these talented guys have passed away. Time is precious.
I don't remember hearing this song years ago, but I LOVE it, and can't get enough of it. The BeeGees had more talent, vocal gifts and songwriting skills than many who were even more popular than them. It's so tragic that Maurice and Robin passed away so young. Just a kind of reminder : but, let's not forget about Andy Gibb, please. He was much younger than Robin or Maurice when he died.
