Also, my volleys tend to fly deep or pop up when I keep my racquet face as open as you are showing... my racquet is strung with full poly. Could that be a reason? Am I gripping too hard? Other ideas for me are welcomed. I will try again tomorrow...

No, I don't turn sideways. I try to turn 45 degrees with feet and 45 degrees with torso. For fast pace doubles volleys at net, there is often no time to turn the feet and I just turn the torso!
Very thorough explanation and masterful presentation for teaching the volley. Thanks for posting. On the forehand volley, I often do not have time to bring the back foot around AND split step after contact, and instead, have my back foot come around as my reset for the next volley.
Agree 120% on improving Coaching quality in USA. Unfortunately , anybody can coach ! Bummer! Parents are not requiring certification &experience&results when hiring a coach for their children. Thanks Jeff! great job!
My problem of practicing alone is that I cannot feel any power in the volley. I either push the ball or swing it and make it worse. Do you have a volley drill for the wall?
The "add footwork" part of the video shows something nobody ever does with his feet+body. There is practically no time to have the dominant leg in front BEFORE the stroke.
There's so many great pointers here and it's concise . No waffle love it.

Gracias 🇪🇸 Jeff !!
excellent
Great lesson..It’s fun to know how to practice alone..Thanks..
You're welcome! Happy to help.
Great lesson. The volley is a surgical tool not a sledgehammer which is why I need to improve stopping the racquet after contact.
Thank you!
Great video Jeff. What is your target for this volley drill? The cross-court service line?

Thanks Julian. I like to aim just past the service line.

Brilliant
What do you think about weak continental grip on volleys toward forehand side of grip
Very practical and great video! Was wondering, when you hit the ball, is it only the forearm moving? Or the upperarm?

So the backhand volley unless wide should not be hit in a sideways position where you’re shoulder is facing the net?
