When you enter the Park they give out brochures that say "Don't run when you see a bear". Some also advise folks to stay off trails after the sun goes down. Then the same parks allow jogging clubs to come in and hold all night "Runs" on the very trails bears are out on. They are doing this same nonesense in the Park near me. When something happens its a big surprise.
So as a runner in the bear's territory just doing his usual bear routine attacks the human for invading his living area is in the wrong to attacking the human?
I don't think he implied that at all. Just the opposite, he seemed to be a little too light-hearted about a guy being attacked by a bear, which could very easily have been a fatal attack.
Black bears are such amazing animals who make exceptionally respectful thoughtful neighbors we have many in our neighborhood in Port Moody, they know to respect our boundaries and we do theirs ie. go around each other on trails or they stay deep in the parks to not cross paths with people. This bear was doing it's daily routine and would have been scared of the person, their diet is 80 percent shrubs, berries, bugs they dig up, if they find a baby fawn they will go for it but mostly foragers. Humans are not on their food list.
Yeah, it's too bad but the bear will most likely be euthanized after this. All because some human did not secure their trash in a proper way, and the runner was mistaken by the bear as an opponent who was getting in the way of a meal. Maybe wildlife should be the first consideration when someone decides to go for a 50 mile run through an area known for bears and other wild animals?
that's my son.. just running.. minding his own biz. This all started because a camper left a bag of trash outside their tent. No trash, no bear with trash in it's mouth running away.
So I’ve always just wondered , why do people just think they are impervious to wildlife attacks? I know I know, they are just running, enjoying nature. That’s what the deer said too.
Behave like prey running , expect you may be viewed as prey, however that was a defensive attack by the bear, not a predatory attack. He was guarding a food source. They usually dont kill bears for defensive attacks.
Seriously didn’t think of wildlife as an issue? Running at night, is crazy dumb. Poor bear wouldn’t have been in trouble in its environment, if the guy wasn’t running at night. So now this bear will most likely be killed so a man can get his goal met. Stupid and wrong.
This was a chance encounter where the runner and the bear were at the same place at the same time. I believe the bear was spooked and defended his food source. Animals behave on instinct. Sometimes we want to anthropomorphize them!
stupid idea to run in the wild. you put yourself at risk don’t blame the bear. too many bears kill because people don’t repect their space and wild nature. leave the bear alone.
Hello, I was wondering, if I can share with you the most important thing. God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. Then He was put into a tomb for 3 days, after that Abba Father raised Jesus to life.He appeared to people, and went back to heaven. We all must sincerely receive Jesus into our life to be God's child. See John 1:12 for this please. Will you today genuinely by faith receive Jesus into your life for salvation?

No one said that?
Don't kill the bear!

..so now the bear is out on parole and has to wear an ankle er.. neck bracelet.
Happens to the best of us
Sort of like swimming in an ocean where sharks are numerous and can and do attack humans.

Play the video again and listen to Mr Rogers. The bear was still under the influence of a traqualizing drug after being collared.

Last thing you think he has to worry about is wildlife in Yosemite? Don't go into the bear's home. What happened? He went into the bear home!
Running in bear country - not a good thing to do in bear country. You will be interpreted as prey.

Poor bear? What a bunch of nutty nuts…
Well, at least it wasn't COCAINE BEAR. 😅

Wow, a two second explanation drug out to 2+ minutes. You sitting there narrating doesn't add value to the information.
Your snide comments do not either
@@jodileigh571 whaaaa
Right?! He seemed almost gleeful that someone was attacked by a bear.
Omg😮

I'm confused! The film shows a long tailed animal going into the woods?!?! Could it have been a cougar and not a bear???
It clearly shows a bear. Get a bigger screen...or glasses...or both.
RUNNING through BEAR country WITHOUT a gun? What did he think was going to happen?
