Oh wow...you are right it is not for the unsaved...but yes we all reach a spot where is confrible safe..even if we always been a believer until somehow things dont add up like it used to...then yes God call us to deeper level...another step must be taken...and sometimes tragic things comes that snaps us out of that comfort zone...
