I like the black fuel cap for the reasons you mentioned. That body is enjoying the attention best to not detract from it even in the slightest. Thanks for the video.

I am surprised they did not recess it and make a proper body-colored door. It looks like a big black zit the way they left it.

Wow, just wow! So much re-use of original (headliner, hubcaps, shift indicator, guage artwork) with all the patina of use wrapped-up in a tight (no doubt, rattle-free) package! Love your work, thanks for sharing!
Since you asked about the fuel filler cap, the plastic feels slightly out-of-place IMHO. Like something that got added at-need in the 80's. Maybe a cap modelled after the hubcaps (metal, worn chrome) would feel more at home here? Regardless, what an amazing build!

I'm building a 53 Willys Panel. I'm using a 2-door Ford Explorer chassis, others have used chevy S10 chassis, body fits on them perfectly,
no reason to build a custom chassis, a four link? An LS v8? booooring. Plenty of others options for what is honestly a vehicle that isn't going to go fast, sits too high stock, and has horrible aerodynamics.

That version of the Willys wagon (the 2wd Maverick with the chrome side rockets, column shift, and mesh speedo surround) is quite rare. Glad to see so much of it was kept.

My dad purchased a used Willys Overland about 1958 I think it was a 1952, it was a 6 volt battery and he never changed it out it always smelled little of gasoline and horse hair with 3 speed on the column and mom and dad repainted it in a white and light green with brushes. It ran and rattled like a can of spray paint for a number of years until he sold it maybe 1963. I wish I had it, you would have another project. I drove may dads last truck from 1972 until 1976 an old forest service 1958 step side F100, it got me there! Now I have a F150 Lariat stealth 4X4 crew keeping it stock for now but LED Lights are in it future. Thank you for the mammies, I mean memories, That's my story

Willys-Overland Motor Co. was defunct in early 1953 when it was acquired by Kaiser Motors and rebranded as Willys Motors, Inc. until 1962 when the name changed to Kaiser Jeep Corporation. In 1970 it was sold to AMC, and then to Chrysler in the '90s. So this wagon is a Willys, not a Willys-Overland. Big distinction if you're into Jeep history!

Show me just one of these 'Derelicts' that isn't 'Spot-On'. (betcha can't.)
That Sparton stalk is great, especially with the trombone. If you made any extras they need to be put on the Site's Shop page.
Along with the well thought out Speedo.
This vehicle, like it's Derelict brethren, are so well thought out.
This type of mod would be rather cool on an FC170/M677 crew cab.

Great job as always, I don't care for the fix a flat. Things that bother me about some new cars are 1, No full size spare. 2. No spare at all, just fix a flat. 3, Rubber band engines. 4. Technology that makes a car less reliable than the old stuff. (Went to leave on vacation and transponder ring for chip key failed.) While I love the way you tastefully integrate modern technology with the old, it sometimes scares me. I can rig the old stuff and make it home, or change a mechanical fuel pump in a parking lot. Now, when an in tank fuel pump takes a dump, better have a tow truck if no access panel. My dad has 350,000 miles on his '67 Wagoneer he bought new. Never been towed, unlike his newer cars. It did refuse to start recently, he pulled out the failed electronic ignition conversion and threw the points back in that he had in the glove box, not sayin' points are better, just sayin'. I'm planning to upgrade a 1970 Wagoneer to a driveline with fuel injection and overdrive, but going with a 90's setup. No fuel temp sensors, leak detection pumps, transponder rings, plastic intake manifolds....your builds inspire me. I tend to be a purist with my better classics (though I do make minor improvements unless a pristine original), but I love what you do. Thanks for keeping the gauges looking original. I hate seeing hot rods at car shows with modern gauges and ugly tilt steering. I love how you make modern columns and dash accessories look original, even if modified.

I don't suppose since you do some other upgrades that you could put some high back bucket seats in the thing with a little more head and neck support? Even in the older 50s trucks you rebuild the seats are all low back. I personally like a little more head and neck support with bumpy ride trucks and Jeeps but otherwise nice as I've seen.

What is doing all the rattling? You usually spend a lot of time tracking down rattles.

Thank you Mr. Ward for helping to keep the old iron on the road. Don"t worry about the gas cap, it works. Lol.

Very Nice! We had a very nice '62 2 Door Wagon bought used from a Uncle back in 1969. Hurricane straight six. Loved that Willy's.
