Thanks for the deck review and for introducing me to Basquiat and his art. I appreciated that you included the extra images at the end showing the artist and some of his works.
Fellow Class of '86 guy right here! I ended up moving to New York City and my first job was at the Met Museum. I traveled around in art circles a bit and certainly got to know Basquiat's work. His mentor was Andy Warhol, although they both had passed away before I moved to NYC. So glad you mentioned the Basquiat cameo in the Blondie song, "Rapture. The "scene" from around 1975-1985 saw a lot of crossover between art and music. David Byrne of Talking Heads fame was an art student, for instance. I think the rise of MTV made music more of a visual medium, so it makes sense you might find an artist in a music video. Basquiat - and also Keith Haring - went a long way to making street art legitimate; what many of us would call graffiti began to be looked upon as a potential art form. Come to think of it, Keith Haring would make an ideal subject for a deck of cards. Playing cards, after all, can be thought of as a visual medium. Thanks for sharing this review and bringing Basquiat to everyone's attention!
Basquiat was since I can remember my nr. 1 fav artist!! so when those came out i imeaditly had to get them. Im very happy with the quality and design 😁
Hi David. Great review! Excellent Homage to a fine artist whose life was taken way too soon by the sad experience of drugs. Thank you for all you do David! Your friend, David

Always been a fan of his work. So sad that he passed way too young.
